Another awesome video Andre, thanks for posting. I came to the same conclusion as you - ADV style, carbon, lightweight, internal visor!! The LS2 is only beaten in lightness by the Klim Krios Pro, which is twice the price. Its quieter than the Schuberth E3, which is twice the price. It has more features than the Arai XD4, which is twice the price! You get a lot for your money with the LS2 Explorer Carbon, and I mean A LOT!!! And, being CE22.06 certified, means it is a safe as helmets can be! The LS2 Carbon Explorer will be replacing my well-aged Arai XD3 as soon as it arrives.
I’ve been using it for a couple of years now (and still do) though I’ve had a recurring problem with the internal sun visor mechanism. I ride with goggles and the visor open from time to time which I guess allows dust into the mechanism. The first time the switch got stiffer and then couldn’t drop the sun visor. It went back to Sportsbikeshop where it was repaired under warranty and returned. The switch still works but it’s getting stiff again so now I find myself having to pull the internal sun visor down the last bit. Not perfect, but for the price, I still think it’s the best there is.
Thanks for the video. Bought my first adv lid, the LS2 Explorer Carbon a few days ago. Normally wear an AGV K5S. So this is a lot different to a conventional full face helmet. I won’t be fitting cameras to it, just my Cardo Packtalk Edge comms unit. I went for a 3 hour ride today. Helmet suffers a bit from wind buffeting, more so than the AGV. I can only put it dow n to the peak. But the peak was brilliant as a sun visor. Low afternoon winter sun here is a pain.
I’m still using it as my go-to dual sport helmet. For long tours with some motorways, it is a bit noisy, but with earplugs it’s ok. I do still use my schuberth from time to time too, but for the price I’m still really pleased with the LS2.
I've a LS2 subverter the quality and finish of it, is on par with most more expensive helmets. I am on the market for a new Adventure helmet and this one is on my radar. Thanks for posting great video.
I’ve been impressed with it so far, for the price. After a dusty summer last year, the mechanism for the sun visor did start sticking but that was quickly fixed under warranty. And I’m still using it now!
If you are wearing goggles can you shut the shield down ? If your riding in the dirt and you get to the road I want to block the wind at highway speeds . I don't want to have to stop and take off the goggle I want to just be able to shut the shield down .
In the helmet bag, that is Not an inflatable neck support, it is a inflatable helmet Donut. You rest your helmet on it upside down so it's stable to work on or let it dry out without scratching your helmet.
Not sure about that… the LS2 comes with a visor and pin lock and the internal sun visor. It definitely feels more like a road helmet that you could use on a trail. The LS2 Thunder Carbon road helmet is also pretty light at 1400g, so I guess it’s composition rather than use? My Schuberth E1 is a similar helmet to the LS2 but is a flip up, and is rather heavy.
Great review, Andre, for two quality products. I have an LS2 helmet. I figured it was a budget brand, as I only paid $99US for it. I like it a lot, but it is pretty ‘basic’. I’m going to look for that carbon fiber LS2, and definitely the WannaBes GoPro mount. Wishing you well.
They do have some cheaper options, but with the carbon fibre, Bluetooth, pin lock and sun visor, (and price!) I guess the explorer carbon is perhaps competing at a higher level. A few folks have mentioned they have different LS2’s (I think Pioneer was mentioned?) and feedback overall seems to be positive.
Hi Andre I have the cheaper version ls2 pioneer and I'm really impressed with the fit and comfort and it's acu gold badged too and only £70 on ebay at the moment 👍
Just a friendly heads up pal..[as i`m looking at buying one of these]]..it`s not an inflatable neck support but an inflatable service pad for you to work on your helmet..etc..
I have had in the last 6 years 1. Tourtech ADV - helmet ⛑ Expensive, light ( BUT noisy poorly made in my opinion, had pin lock 🔒 and no drop down visor ) . It basically fell to bits . 2. Airoh Commander- expensive, but well made and light , a bit noisy ( didn’t like the sharp section at rear of base - to sit say a neck brace on ) in a crash 💥 that part hit a log on the trails and I ended up getting brain 🧠 surgery, helmet was 6 weeks old ) 3. Klim Kros - VERY light , noisy and visor isn’t the best at sealing ( BUT it’s a great 👍 light helmet ⛑, I use it now as my snotty off road ridding helmet. 4. Arai XD4 I finally bit the bullet and brought one ☝️, a bit heavier then my other helmets were BUT a Japanese quality made helmet that is very well balanced “ best helmet I have ever owned . And quite.I use it for my ADV and road riding helmet ⛑ now .
I’ve heard lots of great things about the Arai. Unfortunately I don’t have an Arai shaped head, and no matter how many I try, they never fit quite right. Sounds like you’re working your way through several options. I’ve done Airoh > Schuberth > LS2. I’m sure there will be more in the future. I’m not particularly brand loyal 🤣
@@PeakMotorcycles Yes they say you either have a Shoei head or a Arai head 😂😂. Have you Shoei Hornet on ??? . Iv just recovered from a broken wrist injury when I was out Enduro riding , I’m from Australia . I have started using the UK made Know urban 2 pro for ALL my riding- I have put level 2 armour in the shoulders. For my ADV pants I wear John Doo Cargo AAA rated pants and Forma ADV boots . @@bmwrider2859 as you can tell, I’m sort of making this up as I go. It was a lockdown project/experiment that sort of got out of hand, and now I’m doing videos on things that I’m having to learn as I go. Quite often I get things wrong, and I don’t mind at all when folks set me right. It’s my first LS2 and so far so good. (Prior helmets have been one Simpson, one Airoh, one Shark and three Schuberths). Ride safe! (Or safe enough!)
It’s ok, but there is some buffeting. I wear moulded earplugs and on my GS (with a wing on the screen) it’s ok, even at 70 and 80mph. Noisier than my Schuberth E1 but acceptable. On the CRF300 Rally there is more wind noise and on a naked bike it is not my helmet of choice.
Yup, I know that now but it wasn’t really possible to go back and change the video. A few other nice folks mentioned it too. It is a great travel pillow and handy for piles too 🤣🤣🤣
I know, a few people have corrected me 🤣. Sizing is fine for my head shape. I wear a 61cm, same as my Schuberth. Wear and tear has been mostly ok, though after a dusty summer the internal sun visor wasn’t as smooth any more and I sent it back for a warranty repair/replacement. @@PeakMotorcycles Thanks, so that's an xl you have there? do you know your head measurement, and would you say you are intermediate oval shaped head? sorry for all the questions. Good to know the fixed the sticky sunvisor under warranty.
It’s ok at up to 50mph, a bit noisy above that, but I guess that’s a ventilation/noise trade off. I wore it for my trip to the ABR Ireland rally last year on my 1250GS. It worked well in rain and even for motorway riding but it is noisier than my Schuberth S2 Pro.
@Peak Motorcycles copy that, cheers mate, i had a airoh commander and it was very quiet, but like a fool i sold it as i wasn't going to buy another bike, but guess what, i did, so im looking for a new one and refuse to pay arai and shoei prices, cheers mate, take care

Bad bits are that it’s quite fiddly to get the charging port open and I’m still struggling to push the buttons. Maybe it’s easier with summer gloves but the location of the controls seems a bit awkward vs my Sena 30k which I have side mounted on other helmets.
