    I have that same Fly helmet, which I purchased through MxLocker, and I will say the air flow is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. It’s unreal. Such a light helmet. Emig is right, you can’t see any of the helmet when it’s on which takes a ride or two to get used to. Very strange feeling initially

    I am sold on the fly helmets. I purchased one after someone I knew had a traumatic brain injury and went on the hunt for the safest helmet. He got invited out to the facility and was shown how fly was innovative and one of the safest, if not the safest on the market. After hearing that and wearing one myself and loving it I will never go back to a different brand.

      @@NeopaintballofficialThat's terrible. Maybe it could have been worse in another helmet though. Did you have any prior head injuries? That's also a factor.

      I bought my first fly helmet when I was 9 (first time riding) I have bought many different brand helmets but for some reason I always return to the exact one I bought 15 years ago it is by far the most comfortable It has taken massive beatings and probably shouldn’t be in service but the interior and exterior have no visual damage to the structural integrity. New helmet is on its way went with the fly formula CP can’t wait I’m sure it’s going to be just as good

      @neopaintballofficial I’m sorry to hear that. It must have had to be a pretty bad accident. helmets aren’t meant to be a end all be all to accidents just more protection before the inevitable like a seatbelt anything over 70MPH your toast anyways

    I really like the rating scale used here and the analysis. I've tried the Bell, I wear it when I'm not riding around other people because I can hear the bike bike better. It is fairly loud and comfy. Fox helmets are a nice balance of all these features, especially at the price point. I'd put Arai higher in every category except weight, and that's why I mostly wear a VX-Pro4 to this day.

I've had mine for awhile now and luckily haven't had to really use it yet. For me the light weight is a huge deal, no kore neck pain from hard landings.

At times when I take a spill I sometimes feel like it might come off but I love the helmet I would still wear it. I recently switch to the alpine M10 and it fits my head perfectly, no movement and it’s a well breathing helmet and I love it. It comes down to preferences.

    I have 3 FLY Formula Carbons. Nothing like them. Absolutely a phenomenal helmet. Don't let cheek pads be the determining factor of a helmet. You can get different thickness pads. Especially for FLY.

  • @ogoshikimura5621
    @ogoshikimura5621 4 месяца назад

    Having tried some of these recently myself, I feel like if the Shoei fits you perfect, the Alpinstars just can't. They are so differently shaped that you would need to size up or down at one of them. However, The Shoei is so comfortable you could wear it as a all day Touring ADV Helmet. And that is something I have never sen before on a dirt helmet. (Maybe Arai to a degree) But I guess the Fly and Bell will have the best Airflow and that is so important when you need to stay focused on the trails.

    Could you please let us know if any of these helmets have speaker cutouts? i ride in small groups, and we all run cardo packtalk communication systems in our helmets. it would be extremely helpful if helmet manufacturers could integrate the ability for customers to add speakers if so desired.
    i spoke with a sales manager at a local motorcycle shop where i was shopping for a dirt bike helmet and the manager said a lot of people ask to have cardo or another communication system installed into their new helmets.
    its kind of contradictory for helmet manufacturers to say they are making the helmets as safe as possible, and then not providing the ability for riders to add a communication system into the helmet when that is also an important safety feature (communication).
    teachers of how to ride actually taught us to get a communication system to improve safety when riding together, and also encouraging, not riding alone.
    all helmets should offer the ability to easily add a communication system (helmet speakers, such as jbl which ship with cardo packtalk pro, edge, and others)
    this is extremely important.

    JEFF While Shoei helmets are considered high quality, they may not always have the best noise reduction compared to other brands like Schuberth because of a design focus on prioritizing ventilation and aerodynamic performance over absolute quietness, meaning their vents and shell shape are optimized for airflow rather than solely minimizing wind noise; however, newer Shoei models like the RF-1400 are actively working to improve noise reduction through refined aerodynamics and liner design.

    I am not a fan of MIPS or any other rotational absorption. A round helmet would not grab the ground like the modern ridges can today, and you can probably go a bit oversize, and wear a stocking cap to allow more rotational give. Personally, I think a round shell would work better than "MIPS in a helmet with ridges that can grab the ground".

      @@stevemoores510 it’s your brain not mine so by all means wear it. All I’m saying is it’s a very aggressive shell with no tech behind it. Think of a modern car and an old steel truck. Your body will absorb less energy in a car that has proper crumple zones. I’ve seen the data brotha, time and place for a stiff shell, mx speeds aren’t motogp speeds that need it that stiff. Also a monolithic eps system doesn’t allow your head to shear from the helmet again transferring more force to YOU. This is why things like mips meds and ods exist

    I have FLY and EVS and HJC. They are all good. The 6D technology is great but expensive. Outta budget for this racer.

    Not tested - "tried on" is more like it. They aren't slippers - you have to break helmets to test them properly.

    Back when I raced I wouldn't buy a helmet if it wasn't (DOT) and (SNELL) approved. I felt like the more the helmet was tested the better it was.

    • @stevesmith756
      @stevesmith756 6 месяцев назад +1

      Snell is an outdated testing standard that was developed for car racing. Too stiff for motorcycle racing. Because of the stiffness it causes concussions. ECE 22.06 is the best rating for motorcycles

    If you wash your pads all the time, get a few balaclava instead. I only ride with them now. No matter how much I sweat, my helmet always smells new.

    16:06 How do you not mention that the alpine star, you can adjust the height the helmet sits on your head .
    It has adjustment points to raise or lower how the helmet sits on your head.
    I always had an issue with helmets pushing goggles down on my nose, and Alpinestars is best helmet I've ever worn,
    Not mentioning those adjustments is a huge disservice to the helmet.
    TO ME this is game changing feature for me to dial in exactly where it sits on my head, and how goggles sit in the opening. when Jeff complained about how close it is, that plastic piece comes off for that reason.
    U want your goggles to fit tight so sand don't go in.
    I run prospects wich are the largest goggle. With no issues
    How can you not mention those adjustments on the A stars helmet

    But we have to go by the BS & sales brochures of the helmet sellers and no one does crash test(s) reviews which is the #1 purpose of a helmet.
    We only find out how good it is at protecting our head when we crash our head into something like the ground, the bike, a tree,..

    Other than being made by communism in china, (like all these helmets probably are), I really like my F3 KLIM carbon pro, carbon fiber helmet. It fits great on me, has a quick strap (no D loops, and can be fastened with one hand with a little practice), and is super light. It is not DOT approved, (Euro ECE approved), but I am not going to be hit by a truck. The DOT helmets are about 1 lb heavier. I think that includes all of these. Great look, great ventilation, great fit, and a really good price (about 5 bills). It is just too bad that we are building the communists military, as we hand our free enterprise to communism and go broke ourselves with limited and dwindling opportunity.
    communism taught us to hate profit, because it does not want us to make any.
