This song hits me in the core, it still does today at 49 what it did when I was 18, what RATT sounded like when I was 14 and heard Out of The Cellar for the first time, it just fucking blew my mind away, I played that tape until it was unplayable on my walkman, totally worn out. But this song is something that stands out from everything else this, my favorite band did back in the day because Pearcy hadn't come up with a song with both his regular and singer voice. God! I wish I could go back in time and re-live the 80s, I was so fucking lucky to live them to the fullest. Every now and then I still wear my RATT shirt with all the pride that I got to enjoy this music when it was still played on the radio and MTV, and I always run into someone that looks at me and says "awesome band, I went to see them in concert in...." Great memories, no car, no house, no clothes, or watch can give me the emotions that this music does, memories, the best we can get out of life, and I've got plenty of them.
Back then just about every hair metal band performed their share of power ballads. RATT was no exception and THIS ballad is unquestionably my fave of theirs.
@lucas mercury ..you couldn't of said it better..I just recently started listening to my collection of 80's music I had to put it away for a long while ..too many of the songs were to hard for me to listen to ..Take Care
This is a song no matter how many times you play it you can't stop listening to it I play this song over a thousand times you can't never get enough time you play it over and over again and it keeps getting better and better
In my humble opinion Ratt detonator is the best Ratt album to date!! Start to finish the album is amazing and it's a shame that this was the last original Ratt album...But I still love the band they hold a special place in my heart for them!! 🤘🤘😃
Shane rose! Love you for your loving comment about my favorite album detonator by my most favorite band ratt... Completely melodic album from head to toe.....
Some criticize Pearcy's voice, but for me the feeling that he puts into each note is impressive, in this song it seems that there were two vocalists, for me the best.
THE LOST BOYS 1984.😎😎😎 Brings me back to the best times of 80’s & 90’s....... when music meant something. Unlike the CRAP of today. Cheers 🍺🍺🍺 Everyone out there.
Saw Ratt and Billy Squire in 1984, but we were all there to see Ratt. Love Billy Squire though. This song may be Ratt's best and that is saying a LOT. One of my favorite bands from the 80s and feel fortunate to have lived thru them.
For some reason I was never really into Ratt but I always loved this song. It's probably in my Top 10 songs of all time, alongside White Lion's Broken Heart for example...
Love you 😘💕 David! I really Love broken heart and givin'yourself away indeed..... My top 10 ballads are......... No.1:: givin'yourself away No.2:: Broken heart No.3:: still loving you No.5:: too late for love No.6:: Nobody's fool No.7:: love Bites No.8:: I won't forget you No.9:: Is this Love No.10:: Annie by loud n' nasty 🤢
When OUT OF THE CELLAR came out....OMG..!!!!!!! THIS IS WHAT ROCK MUSIC WAS MEANT TO BE.An article in CIRCUS MAGAZINE about a song by RATT once said , "IF YOU POURED WATER ON THOSE WORDS ....IT WOULD MAKE GRAVY..!!!! " OH MY MY...!!!! Was and will always be my LOVE for this band. The guitar is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. WARREN ...WOW.
I think they wrote this song about me.... must have had a premonition about a couple decades in the future. But I've ALWAYS been a huge fan! This is such a relevant song. 😔💔
I'm 57 still a roker best music in our life time and they'll never be any better than in our era. That's Rock-N-Roll.☆☆☆☆☆☆ Can I get a hell yell???????
Awesome song that i played back after this album came out, when i was totally crazy over a girl. Wow!! My heart was in a shambles back then. This song fit perfectly to my situation. Long live RATT!!
I'm a little young to have been around when RATT and similar bands were in their heyday. I first heard this song on the now-extinct Slacker Radio app on a channel full of the best 80's/early 90's glam metal. This and "Shame" have been my favorite RATT songs ever since. The whole Detonator album holds special significance to me cuz my now-fiance and I listened to it on the way to our first date..!
The most distinctive, talented and hardworking musicians ratt joint ventured with Desmond child created the greatest album of 90,s detonator and it's the most precious and hidden gem in the Treasure Island of the detonator
At the time wasn't a big fan of ratt but just discovered this gem now I can't stop listening to it, epic melodies and nailed guitar break. This is the shit and still relevant after all these years it's timeless
Damian! Me too..... This song is the most beautiful part of my life I have been listening this song since my childhood when this Great album came out in 1990 August 21st. Anyway love and respect from Pakistan huge fan of ratt like you
This describes ME back in the day it used to make me cry cuz I didn't know I was "giving myself away" my Higher Power knew this..this song is a gift from God to me now when I hear it I can smile because I dont have to hide anything anymore from anyone. I am clean and sober today since 02/20/2006 I first heard this song when I was 14 in 1990 I felt like someone was singing about my life "I see through the part that you play" still hits me because I did pretend to be someone else I did claim I didn't give a shit deep down inside I really DID give a shit...that's why I was constantly drunk or high all the time cuz it helped me not to give a shit...this song used to be too painful for me to listen to now it feels more like a good friend saying "see? I always knew who you were and ARE" Now TODAY can be that "joyful spirit" my name means & give THAT joy away instead....thank you God
Una banda que se hizo grande sin hit radial como otras que por una balada se hicieron famosos, esperaron el último disco de su primera etapa para regalarnos esta imperecedera canción,!
This was their last hit song, I wish we could go back to when the world 🌎 was normal.
❤❤❤
One of their best songs. Doesnt get the Air play it deserves. Rock On RATT.

Saw Ratt and Billy Squire in 1984, but we were all there to see Ratt. Love Billy Squire though. This song may be Ratt's best and that is saying a LOT. One of my favorite bands from the 80s and feel fortunate to have lived thru them.

Some of the cord progressions remind me a little of Whitesnakes song called The Deeper the Love. I believe it's called.
