  • Bird flu (avian influenza) is a pathogen of increasing concern. Join Julia Frith, DNP, RN, CIC, as she discusses the influenza virus, its subtypes, pathogenicity, and transmission. She reports on the recent cases of humans infected with avian flu, including presenting symptoms. Dr. Frith also reviews infection prevention and control guidelines of such patients in healthcare facilities, as well as actions that can be taken by those who interact with animals to reduce the risk of transmission.
