I had a piece of melanoma removed from my ear, so now I have five Tilley hats. My white smash up one was a lifesaver in Spain. I just wish I had started wearing them years ago. Great videos, new subscriber here.
I wear mine because I had a spot of skin cancer on my nose. It was not fun when I had to get it removed and repaired. I hide from the sun as much as possible. The tilley hat helps a lot. The LTM6 is my favorite.
Another thing about the Tilley Hats that have the double head strap system that I really like, which is different when wearing a hat without this feature, is the wind keeps messing with it, tugging at it, and you tend to tense your facial and neck muscles to try and compensate for that...but with the this sort of very secure double strap system you can relax those muscles and it makes for a more comfortable, and less worrisome experience in the wind. It might sound like a silly thing to mention, but if your outdoors all day in the wind with such a hat, in contrast to hats without any sort of chin straps(s), you relax the way you hold your head and neck and that really is nice and you enjoy your experiences more.
I have a LMT5, had it for years, best summer travel hat ever. Keeps its shape no matter how often it gets scrunched up. Just about to get a waxed cotton Outback TWC7 and know it’ll be the only wet weather hat I’ll ever need.
I have 3 Tilleys, one of which I bought 18-20 years ago. My favorite is the Wanderer and it goes every where with me. Going to buy a Henschel next. I use to feel silly wearing mine all the time but not anymore.
ColeKam thanks for watching! Yeah at first it felt a bit weird but then it's like the hat become a part of you! It's a different experience with the hat! :)

Hey I have a question about the T3 and the size. Have a head circumference of 61.5cm, the Tilly T3 in size 73/4 (61.5cm) does not fit as tightly and well. The hat should sit very loosely, I tried 7 7/8 and this fit loosely but it also looks bigger, which size would you recommend? With the 61.5cm I can put both fingers between the forehead and the hat if I pull it slightly forward. With the bigger one it is only possible to pull, on your side I am also recommended 61.5 for 61.5 handling. A matter of taste? Thanks in advance

The "stupid" are those who doggedly follow what ever fashion thing is happening in an attempt to get others approval. Like wearing a baseball cap backwards losing the utility of the bill blocking the sun, so why wear a cap at all? That is stupid. Like others writing here I wear a broad brimmed hat, a Tilley, as I also had cancer removed from my face and learned my lesson. I now love wearing the hat. @@tjm3900 After some investigating, it looks like Tilley has decided to make most of their iconic Airflo hats as well as some other new young"trendy" hats (the Nomad, the Hyeto, some other hats that are trying to appeal to younger people) in China. You can still get an Airflo "mash-up" hat that's made with recycled yarn, they actually look really nice, and they're still made in Canada. Sucks for me as the iconic LTM5 might have been a purchase I would have considered in the future, now I'll have to really think on that. Luckily a bunch of their other hats are still made on Gervais Ave in North York... I have the T3 Wanderer and the TTW2 Tec-Wool winter hat, they're both still made in Canada. Really unfortunate and kind of a bummer. Funny, if you literally google "Tilley made in china" there's a Globe & Mail article/interview with Alex Tilley where he states his negative opinion on overseas manufacturing. I mean, I'm bummed out that they're not 100% made in Canada anymore but if a life-long Tilley wearer were to compare a Canadian-made Airflo and a Chinese-made Airflo and not be able to tell the difference, there's still that? Here's the list of Canadian-made products: www.tilley.com/ca_en/made-in-canada.html
TFlorida1 Not washing the hat is kind of dumb, plus it’s pretty disgusting to not wash a hat after owning/wearing it for a few years. All that sweat and dirt accumulated in your hat just reduces the longevity of the hat. As the Tillley website states, if you don’t wash it the hat won’t last as long. I own a Tilley LTM6 hat and wear it for my work outside in Florida. I’ve had it for 5 years and wash it quickly by hand often and hang it to dry. The hat works great and it is worth the money. Before buying this hat I’d be buying a new hat every year due to wear and tear. Tilley hats are worth the price and are exceptionally well made.
Hey, I guess you’re right! I think that I just want my hat to look like I’m using it and not like it’s brand new! Sure it will last longer if you wash it! I do tend to rinse it every now and again in rivers and lakes! Enjoy your hat friend! Thanks for watching!
You do know that Tilley sold out to corporate greed, don't you? How about buying a Christmas present for the jobless Canadians whose lives were destroyed?
Hey Bill, yeah I heard about it! this video and this hat was made long before that though, I understand your anger and disappointment, I've seen the same with a lot of Swedish brands over the years too.

No, they are still made in Canada.
Great hat !
You know it!
They float! And they have a bit of padding for when I hit my head.
Helps me swim!
Do you think I should wear it to a wedding ?
Is it okay that I don't like the couple ? :)
+hypnosiscenter nyc wear it if you like! Don't know why you would go to a wedding if you don't like the couple.. :)
That hat is expensive but it is money well spent.
agreed!
The geezer hat has its usages for sure. Maybe when I’m 80 I’ll wear it
If you make it to 80.

Not washing the hat is kind of dumb, plus it’s pretty disgusting to not wash a hat after owning/wearing it for a few years.
I wash my 6 year old Tilly hat often. It looks worn in, smells clean, and is in great shape without any rips or stiching coming undone.
I’ll give it a try! :)
.I found washing it even for the first time actually takes away the " new hat look " and adds to its character straight away.
Duly noted! How did you wash it?
If you hike at all with a wide-brim hat, you will need the chin cord.
With this one I can do it with our without, it stays on. At least for me!
You look like the undertaker
Feel like him sometimes too! :)
Got mine from the thrift store for $1.99👌
Good deal! :)
You do know that Tilley sold out to corporate greed, don't you? How about buying a Christmas present for the jobless Canadians whose lives were destroyed?
Hey Bill, yeah I heard about it! this video and this hat was made long before that though, I understand your anger and disappointment, I've seen the same with a lot of Swedish brands over the years too.
a happy camper, haha, sure
: )
