i love how thorough but simple your explanations are and you seem really nice! thanks for showing the brushes thats helpful :o i've been wanting more traditional looking brushes on the ipad
Your excitement over these new brushes helps validate my own geekiness over great new tools. Thanks for demonstrating them. Love watching these speed paintings, by the way! Amazing work that inspires me to break out my own iPad and begin creating more.
Your excitement over these brushes got me to buy them haha, I now have all of his packs! Thank you for showing us these Laura! And also being a bubbly artist to follow :)
this is a really cool speed paint + brushes video you have made. the painting of the neighborhood is really well done and very good attention to detail. The music choice is also really cool and really relaxing to listen to during the speed paint. Really nice job!!! keep it up!
Loved your video as always! Are you planning on doing tips and tricks/tutorial type vid for Procreate like the ones you did for Photoshop? I'd love to see that!!
"that feeling when you find your favorite brush.." I CAN RELATE!!! It's like when Netflix announces a 2 session of your favorite tv show 😂, also you should paint your hydro flask!
Hi Laura! I love your work and you've inspired me to start drawing again (way over due haha) so thank you for that! I was wondering if instead of a speed paint you could do a slower step by step of your process? Like how you start, why/how you do certain things and maybe show like an over the shoulder type view of you drawing not just the screen during the drawing? Just an idea! Hope all is well. Oh and Mable is adorableeeee! ☺️
Hi Laura, Thanks for the recommendation. These brushes are awesome! I'm in the middle of doing a figure for my table top rpg game and they've added allot of texture to the armour I'm paining. I'm trying to get my art to the level that I might be able to get a job or at least maybe something along side my day job. Think I've come on allot over the last few months, thanks for being an inspiration to me too see something that I might be able to achieve one day.
Hi Laura! You're one of my favorite artists! I was wondering if you would consider making a video (or just giving us tips) on drawing perspective? I've noticed you do such a good job with perspective in your background paintings, and I'm curious if you have any tips! Thank you!
@lulusketches I know it's been years but how did you erase into the leaves at @12:19 ? My background paintings don't have a good look to them they're too textured so I'm trying to learn how to render them.
just the recorder on the ipad! and procreate records brush strokes, so some of these clips are from procreate and some are from recording my screen! :)
Hi Laura, I'm so happy you got into feature animation! What would you say is the difference between a feature animation portfolio and a TV animation portfolio?
Oh my gosh!!! This is crazy. I came on your channel tonight thinking, “ I’d love to see if Laura has Procreate brush recommendations.” Completely random. I opened RUclips, and immediately saw a video you published today on that topic. You and Mabel and this lovely coincidence made my day thank you again 😌✨✏️
I love your videos and I'm learning a lot from them. My art class hasn't come yet so I'm using the holiday to draw more. And learning from your tutorials 😍😍they are amazing 👏🏻😉
I love iiiitt! Your video convinced me to buy these brushes actually! Is it possible to share which brushes from the Retro Maxpack you used for this illustration? :)
sure! I sketched with vis dev sketch, and painted mostly with Gouache Natural Flat, Gouache Flow, Gouache Flow Rough Detail, Blocky Bold, and Sponge Thick!
Thanks for this recommendation! Oh my lanta are the brushes amazing. I got the Essential and the Painter’s MaxPacks because I could not do $25 atm. But I’m hoping to get them when I have more money!
The first thing I bought when I got my new iPad was Max’s Gouache brush set, I just couldn’t wrap my kind how a digital brush could feel soooo creamy, still can’t tbh😊 I really want to get this brush set just for the fun of it, but I know having new toys won’t make me a better artist, just a shit ton of work on my part. Question: it looked like besides the brush’s natural (?) opacity you used 100% opacity throughout the design, would you recommend using 100% opacity brushes to strengthen color picking and creating more vibrant illustrations?
I squealed🤦🏻♀️ I literally squealed while watching you use these brushes 🤣🤣 I thought I’d gotten better at freaking out about art stuff but I was SO wrong😂😂 I’ll put this on my Christmas list... or maybe now that I finally got a part time job I can try I just started college for engineering and I just really still want to be into my art even if it’s just mostly digital now 💕
Hi Laura I was curious what is your process when making a background, do you do color first or just I think it would be interesting for you to make a video on that
this video is sponsored! but Max told me I could say whatever I wanted about the brushes, just to give my honest opinion. and my honest opinion is that I heavily recommend them haha
i'm gonna have to show these brushes to my art professor, he's a plein-air painter and i'm interested to hear his thoughts about it! excited to try them myself as well, i find i like my digital art a little better when it's got some texture :)
I thought the glaze was supposed to be more transparent than the natural counterpart but to me it looks really opaque... I thought it was a problem with the naming but maybe I'm just stupid haha
"I'm a feature visual development artist..." Yass, love that new title!!!! Congrats
hi Laura just wanted to say ur my favourite artist ever and my day is better whenever u upload !!!
This reminds me of the rainbow sponge lady video XD so excited about textures and mixes, love it

YAAAAAAY iPad for the WIN!!!!
The painting and the brushes are soo cool! What was the canvas size you used for the painting?
I love spending my lunch breaks drawing my own pieces with Laura playing in the background!
what did you use to record the screen, just regular screen recorder? also looks amazing as always
just the recorder on the ipad! and procreate records brush strokes, so some of these clips are from procreate and some are from recording my screen! :)
