Noticed when your cup holder door is open...on the hinge side...there looks like a small recessed area at the bottom. I've seen ambient tube lighting about 1/8" in diameter available in various colors. If placed there it would be hidden from view whenever the lid is open. Not sure how much light they put out, but masking portions with tape like you did would give the desired amount of brightness. Like the idea/concept.
Instead of covering the ambient overhead light, "focus" it by leaving a small hole for the light to only be cast exactly where you want it. No wiring, no disassembly of console, nothing ugly stuck to the inside of the cupholder taking up space. I did this in another car. Also you can replace the overhead led if you want even more control of where the light goes. Having the cupholder lit from above has more utility and ergonomics than from below.
Very nice addition. I certainly do like your thorough way of presenting the information. I have red LEDs around the engine compartment along the sides. However, they are connected in with the white led in the luggage area behind the engine. I would like to reconnect them so they stay on when I want them to. Like at a show or even while driving at night. They really do show the engine bay very sell. Do you know if there is a terminal behind the waterfall that can be used as a source for 12 volts to power the LEDs. Of course I would also add a switch. Not quite sure yet how to get the wires from the cabin back into the engine bay. Any thoughts??? Thank you for this video it is very well done.
Great video as always. I’m not sure it’s worth all that hard work, but thanks for showing us how!
Another great upload. Mad respect for all the detail and work you put in your videos. I wish I had half the skill.. haha
Thank you sir
