Great video - I have my first Hyrox coming up in Stutggart at the end of Sept! I am currently doing 2 outdoor runs (1 x Easy, 1 x Long), 2 strength sessions and 2 Hyrox based sessions which include running speed work (35-40km running per week). My taper would look something like 1 x strength session, 1 x easy run and 1 shorter hyrox race pace session at 50% volume ish? - Thanks in advance!
Hey Barney that sounds really good I wouldn’t be able to give you any more advice without more context, but you’ve got a good balance there good luck in Stuttgart
The week of your race you don’t NEED to do any strength training, you CAN do a few sets of a squat or deadlift if it makes you feel good. Hyrox workouts that are good are some 1km repeats with 60s rest at your intended race pace. And using the sleds, rowers and skiers because they don’t create as much muscle damage as lunges and wall balls
excellent-- have nyc comin up and this video hit at the right time
Perfect, good luck
Very good advice on tapering. Well put together
Thank you 🙏

Great video mate. Is a 2 week taper necessary, or do you think you can still adapt 2 weeks out, and just taper properly in the final week out?
Thank you. You can still adapt 2 weeks out but you’re likely to do better reducing the volume and increasing the intensity.
What strength or hyrox workouts , if any that you suggest in the week of your race ?

What about deload week before the race? Or is the taper week the same?
Yes deload during training blocks taper before racing
