To provide a counterfactual: I have had flaky grip in the Pro division on several occasions on both push and pull, even with fairly grippy shoes (Endorphin Pro 3 and the RC Elite V1). Both happened on what I like to call "bad sled days", which amount to maybe 20-25% of the races I've been in. It is a public secret that the sleds can feel very different on different days (or even different lanes on the same day some times) depending on carpet and venue conditions (temperature, humidity). My not very thorough analysis of the data also seems to imply that the differential is more pronounced the heavier the sleds are (so the Men's Pro sleds have the highest odds of disaster). If a shoe is even moderately grippy you'll most likely still get away with it, but if not, it could end a Pro race. The MS Sky+ is my favorite road super shoe, but I've never dared to race a Hyrox in it for that reason.
By and large I agree though, as long as you hit that 95% percentile of "sled will move" any shoe will do, and that means you probably want a fast super shoe. And if you're racing Open weights, unless you have a _very_ low body weight, just stop worrying and put on your fastest running racers. FWIW lunges are indeed a bit trickier on high stack shoes, but anecdotally I find a bouncy foam actually lengthens my burpee broad jumps. It's kind of a wash on average.
Unrelated: I actually went through your course last year and liked it. There were some good takeaways even for somebody with quite a bit of running experience. So here, take this testimonial and my sincere thanks 🙃.

👍Grip for Pro weights sled pull rather than push is crucial. Too little and you're in big trouble.

Very happy with my Puma Deviate Nitro 2’s last weekend in Bordeaux. Less happy with my own performance 😂

Hi, would you recommend the deviate nitro elite 2 (or deviate nitro 2)? Weight 88 kg, average pace in hyrox 4'30”/km! Or do you have any other better advice? Thank you in advance
