So, if I don’t have the valvetronic servo. Could I use a test light or oscilloscope to verify it works on the test bench?

Nope, you need the servo motor, this is a 3 phase motor and 5 position sensors built in it. All needs to be connected in order to function and for the DME to perform the movement.
