I am happy to be one of the first 'Home Fries' to welcome you to this rabbit hole. i am certain you will be positively blown away! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy......
Thanks for reacting. For something more contemporary from Home Free, try “Playing with Fire”. From their many Christmas songs, “Do You Hear What I Hear” and “O Holy Night” are really nice. And for Christmas fun “Cold Hard Ca$h”.
Just subscribed for more Home Free reactions. They are the best! Between official videos, audience member videos they have a lot to react to. They can make you dance, cry and fall out of your seat laughing. A huge variety of music , covers and their own originals. . Enjoy the adventure!
I will always love this video, but in all honesty, I prefer the energy of the live version they performed on the Sing Off TV competition 10 years ago! Home Free is my favorite vocal band, and Tim is my pick of the basses running rampant on RUclips, and he is in good company. I'm also giving a loud shout-out here to Austin's perfect tenor -- WOW, his voice is beautiful. Meanwhile I love it that Avi appears to be really enjoying the company around that bonfire -- he is an amazing talent! Your reaction is right on point. Keep following HF, and you can only be surprised.
This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion.
Home Free is amazing and they have about 15 albums out. Some of it Christmas and some originals too. They are just so good. They are known for their amazing harmonies. Avi has a beautiful voice too. Try Helplessly Hoping, One Man Band, Die a Happy Man.
Yes, welcome to (or back to as the case may be) Home Free, all acapella, no instruments at all. Masters of all musical genres. They won the 4th season of the Sing Off in 2013. Their covers are upgrades, their medleys are brilliant, their collaborations with the original artists are inspirational, and their original songs are masterpieces. Within this 5 man vocal band you have 5 tenors, 5 beat boxers, and 2 bass-baritones. All of them can sing lead and they choose depending on whose voice best fits the song. They can do just about anything and they continue to grow and improve, yet they remain so humble. When they have featured guest artist, they support and allow their featured artists to shine. Several of them have their own channels and do some solo work. And just for fun Rob and Austin sing Opera. What else can I say? Their catalogue of work is quite large and continues to grow. You are in for an exciting journey and the Home Fries will be there for you all the way.
You should react to some of Avi Kaplan's original solo music. After leaving Pentatonix in September 2017, he developed a solo career that he was allowed to finally premier in March 2019. His first release was "Change on the Rise", now at about 12 million views, and featured in some TV and podcast shows. When you check it out, keep in mind that he does all the vocals and sounds (other than some organ and tambourine in the bridge). I also recommend you check out this original song, "When I'm a Fool", that was recorded live at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles in Summer 2022, with some of LA's best studio musicians. Then, for contrast, "All Is Well" the 7 Layers Sessions version filmed in a church in Utrecht, Netherlands while he was on his second European tour last year. Just him, his guitar, and the natural acoustics and reverb of the church.
Home Free has a lot of excellent Christmas music! They have 4 or 5 Christmas albums. They do another Johnny Cash song : Folsom Prison Blues as well as other classic country songs like Crazy. Home Free does an amazing version of Unchained Melody. If you want some retro old rock, they cover Listen To The Music, Helplessly Hoping, Love Train and Brothers In Arms. They have a soul song : When A Man Loves A Woman.
Home Free has wonderful Christmas creations. Highly recommend their renditions of "Do You Hear What I Hear" and "O Holy Night". And they had an amazing collaboration with Kenny Rogers shortly before he died, "Children, Go Where I Send Thee". And with Alabama, "Christmas In Dixie". Also, come new year, check out their rendition of "Auld Lang Syne". They even make that simple tune sound spectacular.
This is a great video but I still prefer the version our Home Free fellas sang for their third performance on the 4th season of The Sing Off. It just showcases their strengths even better than this one--in my humble opinion. ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ (This one does indeed feature Avi Kaplan--another exceptional bass--who has been mentored in bass excellence by Home Free's Tim Foust (as has VoicePlay's Geoff Castellucci)). And you're correct--Home Free has fabulous Christmas songs out there, both covers and originals. Their covers of "Oh Holy Night", "Do You Hear What I Hear", and "Mary Did You Know" are peerless (imho), and their originals like "Snow Globe", "Full of Cheer" (a sequel to "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget"), and "Cold Hard Cash" never cease to put a smile on my face. They, of course, have many great performamces to offer in the meantime. 😊 Some of my favorites are "Working for a Living", "Good 'Ol Country Harmony", "Land of the Free", "Remember This", "Elvira" (with the Oak Ridge Boys), "Undivided", "Ain't Goin' Down 'Til the Sun Comes Up" (which is not on YT--it's on their official Facebook page), "Listen to the Music", "Understand", and "Road Sweet Road" 😍!
Just found your channel, love you genuine reaction. 🥰 My wife and I saw Home Free in concert last December. They are just as good, if not better live. They have 2 Christmas albums, and several others. The album Dive Bar Saints is all original songs.
If you really liked Tim Foust's deep voice a good song to listen to is him and Peter Hollins duo of Misty Mountains from the Hobbit movie. Tim has his own channel on RUclips along with some of the other members having one also.
They have over 200 videos out. You really can't go wrong reacting to ANY of them. I've seen them live twice. If you get a chance, go see them. You will have a great time.
Suggestion: when you wear a top with writing on it, be sure to mirror the camera recording your image. If you don’t, the writing looks backwards. You like Avi? Check out Home Free’s Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. Avi photo bombs the shoot. When he walks past the camera, watch Tim’s face.
Home Free does an amazing version of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, which is a very lighthearted song about Christmas, without being a "Christmas Song" (If you can refer to a hit and run sleighing as :"lighthearted")
If you love bass, Home Free is for you. For Christmas, Check out O Holy Night. For one of Tim's (bass) best performances see Brothers in Arms. But EVERYONE else in this group is at the same level of artistry Tim. While I love PTX, Home Free is by far my personal favorite. If you listen to more of them you will find that's because they apeak to your heart.
Home Free are a great group and Tim Foust is a great bass - you have plenty of comments to that effect here so I would like to give a shout out to Avi Kaplan. Although he was with Pentatonix when this was recorded, he's been solo since 2017. Please consider reacting to his work. Most reactors start with 'Change on the Rise' - it is fantastic and his voice is beautiful!
You should try Avi's solo music. He was the bass for Pentatonix but on his own now and doing extremely well. Change on the Rise has deep bass. Also tey Im Only Getting Started b/w video. All is Well 7 layer sessions in a church with great acoustics.
Liz, if you want Tim Foust (Home Free's base singer) to rattle your bones, give a listen to "Misty Mountains". This is Peter Hollens, ft Tim doing this song from the Hobbit. Just 2 guys, 120 layers, and covering 5 octaves......OMG!!!
Do You Hear What I Hear, Mary Did You Know, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, Cold Hard Cash For Christmas & Full Of Cheer should get you started on your HF Christmas journey !!
If you want more bass Tim Foust, Home Free bass, also has some solo videos. Then there is Geoff Castellucci from Voiceplay. He has many solo videos too. And if you want to deep dive into the bass world there is The Bass Gang. I think you will have a lot of fun looking into all of them. Best wishes!😊
Since you enjoy deep voices, give Geoff Castellucci of Voice Play a listen. Since Halloween is approaching I'd recommend; Ghost Riders in the Sky, Monster Mash, Headless Horseman, and Voice Plays Oogie Boogie song from Nightmare before Christmas.
This group is Amazing! Some more Home Free suggestions; Spiritual: How Great Thou Art. R & B: End of the Road. Romantic: When a Man Loves a Woman 5 Part Harmony (No beat boxing): Brothers in Arms. Motown (sorta): Blue Ain't Your Color. Country: Hillbilly Bone. Funny Medley: Butt's Remix and Country Fried Pop Medley. Christmas: Mary Did You Know. Beat Boxing: Adam Rupp's Drum Solo. Collaboration: American Pie and Elvira. Patriotic: Tavelin Soldier, God Bless the U.S.A, and Land of the Free. Other Great Songs: In the Blood, My Church, Amazed, Blue Ain't Your Color, Folsom Prison Blues, and Fishin’ in the Dark / Down in the Boondocks.
New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas that excel in all music genres. They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, American Pie featuring Don McLean, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints, The Driver, Crazy and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone and Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother and Stargazer Lilies trilogy: Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies and Mr. ...Their latest releases are Might As Well Be Me, Playing With Fire and Remember My Name. To switch it up..try Two Country Singers try singing Opera. Adam Chance just wrote the theme song to Ubisoft's new Pirate themed video game, Skull and Bones and Home Free performs it. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!
My first time with your channel. Glad I hung in there. I nearly left because of the annoying background music while you talk. Now I know that I need to fast forward at the start till the song starts and leave as soon as it's over
Home Free's arrangement and performance of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is a must listen from their Christmas repertoire. Blows me away every time.
I concur.
Absolutely fabulous. I listen to it all year round.
Auld Lang Syne is another one they do just so well.
Extraordinarily creative arrangement delivered with phenomenal vocals, of course.
How Great Thou Art is spectacular!
I am happy to be one of the first 'Home Fries' to welcome you to this rabbit hole. i am certain you will be positively blown away! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy......
Your reaction to Avi's first bass .. "You ain't seen nothing yet!"
Meet Tim Foust
And Avi puts his hat on and smiles when Tim Foust hits that lowest note, saying .... "yep ... you're the one". Absolutely COSMIC!
Home Free has 25 or 30 Christmastime songs.....you will enjoy them a lot
I am going to see HF in December in Cincinnati
Thanks for reacting.
For something more contemporary from Home Free, try “Playing with Fire”.
From their many Christmas songs, “Do You Hear What I Hear” and “O Holy Night” are really nice.

They have great Christmas songs
Agreed; Do you hear what I hear is amazing!

The live Sing-Off version has a lot of spirit, and goes a half-step lower, but Adam's beatboxing here is vastly better.
Home Free never disappoint. This is so very awesome. Love your reaction!
Thank you so much!!🥰

Great reaction, Liz! It is really difficult to get enough of these guys in one pass. Avi and Tim together make it impossible!
Love Home Free...more please 🙂
The songs Do Hear What I Hear and Mary Did You Know are the 2 best Christmas covers ever.
You should react to some of Avi Kaplan's original solo music. After leaving Pentatonix in September 2017, he developed a solo career that he was allowed to finally premier in March 2019. Plenty of bass notes in Home Free's repertoire. SAD, but perfect: Brothers in Arms, with Tim and Chance on bass..

Home free’s version of Man of Constant Sorrow would move you too.
As a singer myself who can reach pretty impressive heights, I am still filled with envy, that I can't get that low.... 😅🤭😔🙈

Background music is distracting
Listen to the original John ash song.
My first time with your channel. Glad I hung in there. I nearly left because of the annoying background music while you talk. Now I know that I need to fast forward at the start till the song starts and leave as soon as it's over
Sorry about that. Appreciate the feedback and for sticking around. All the best! 🥰
☹ Background music too annoying. Kinda messes up the song.
It's a pity that such a beautiful woman will burn in the approaching nuclear fire.
🤣🤣🤣
Why do you have background music playing during the song? That's so disrespectful.
You talk to mutch quit before music comes..
Too much talking
