Yep! Good clarification. It’s only needed for the commercial plan because the personal plan is already linked to your channel, while you need to be able to clear videos on clients’ channels with the commercial plan.
@@JosephMartin Hey thank you so much again. I dont see how my personal free trial plan is linked to my youtube channel. I only had to name my email adress. Do i need to write my youtube channel link somewhere in my epidemic sounds account before posting a video ?
I don't see the clear video option on my commercial plan and I did submit a dispute form on RUclips with a coy of my receipt for my Epidemic Sound commercial account plus the Distribution section of the license and Epidemic Sound rejected my claim! I then contacted them via their site and got an email back from someone on their Digital Rights Team basically saying it won't affect the monetization of my long videos and it links the music somehow and may bring basically get me more views! They have sent me the similar email 3 times since I sent my concern last night. I keep telling them I paid for the service to not get claims so the claim should be removed.
I have the personal plan and received a copyright claim from them on a Short. I disputed and Epidemic Sound DID NOT clear it! They send me a separate email and stated that the copyright claim did not matter since I could still be monetized, which my channel isn't yet so I need a clean slate for the time when it is reviewed. I am appealing it and hope they clear it. I also sent links to prove that my subscription is current, paid, and that my RUclips channel is disclosed. I am really disappointed with the way they are handling a current customer of theirs who has paid for a subscription and is licensed to use their music. How this turns out will determine whether I stay with them and recommend them going forward.
Thanks so much, we just monetized and we’re kinda freaking out when we saw that half our content couldn’t monetize. Hopefully we can get it all figured out.
Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for a paid subscription of using Epidemic Sound is safe but RUclips looks like I will not use their music for any of my videos. Joseph, after Safe listing your channel, did you still get copyright notices. RUclips needs to add a feature that will recognize our paid subscription.
Thanks again. Epidemic sound issued two copyright claims on my shorts. I disputed like you said and they countered saying they did this to help me and the artist and they won’t remove the claim. I will no longer use their music on my shorts videos.
This is what they said: “Hi there, Thanks for reaching out! The Shorts policy means that RUclips has detected a track from the Epidemic Sound's catalog in your Shorts. “Shorts visibility and ad revenue are not affected. The copyright protected content detected doesn't affect your Short due to the Shorts monetization policy. The match of the track enables RUclips to automatically link the song information to your video, making it a great tool for discoverability, visibility, and improving reach on the platform for both you and the artist.”
I think they are trying to do what RUclips does on its Shorts policy, because I also tweeted TeamRUclips to ask what's going on. I disputed the second copyright claim as well. This just started so I think that Epidemic Sound is trying to pick up on the use of their music in the shorts for their monetization for their artists. Anyway. I'm still emailing and tweeting back and forth. What a headache! And in all my video descriptions I give attribution to Epidemic Sound and the song and artist! I have a commercial license and the clear video button selection is not available on my account page. I think that Epidemic Sound removed it. I wonder how many other creators are having this happen?
Exactly the same here! I‘m using their music since 3 years. This is really annoying! And they refuse to remove the claim (I did email and also requested the removal on RUclips). They just say that it has no impact on monitization and that‘s it. I‘m thinking about moving over to Artlist.
Is it better to upload the video first as unlisted, wait for the disputed claim to be cleared, then make the video public? At 0:43 you mention that the ad rev is stored then returned to you once the dispute has been cleared. Other RUclipsrs claim that the music artist makes the ad rev until the dispute is fixed and to make sure the claim is fixed before going public. Thanks for your advice.
Thanks for this video! Short, straight to the point, and most importantly - your solution worked! I forgot to add my channel to my Epidemic sound, I filed a dispute just as you showed in the second part of the video and my issue was resolved in about an hour. Thanks for sharing!!
Oh wow! I have to try this! I just got the personal ES subscription and used their music in my recent video... uploaded it today and saw copyright claim on it and I've been so panicked about it and didn't know what to do. I have their music all throughout my video so I have multiple claims . So I went back in ES app to see if I put my YT channel in safelisting and I didn't. (Thought I did!) So I've now put my channel there and I guess now I will have to put a dispute in for all the songs I used in my video? I'm so new to this I really don't know. I thought once you have a subscription for ES you're good to go. Any help is appreciated... thanks!
Thanks for this video. I have a question please. If I download the music from epidemic sounds while I am on a trial and then cancel my subscription, will it still be copyright free after my cancellation?
Any videos you post online during your trial will remain cleared after cancellation, but you cant use the music you downloaded to create and post any new content until you renew your subscription again.
Hello!! So I can still public my video first which has been false copyright claimed and get back the money from them after right? Coz I really have to publish asap it and idk for how long epidemic sound is gonna get back to me and remove the claim😅😬
Saving this video for later. For now I have just one question, since Epidemic Sound doesn't make that very clear in my opinion: On the personal plan, you can still monetize your videos, right? It's just limited to one channel per platform (so one RUclips channel for example). Maybe you could help me out if you know the answer. Thanks!
@@JosephMartin hey, i just wanted to clarify something. You said that we can use their music as long we have subscription, right? So, if i upload a video with their music on it while under subscription and a year later I unsubscribe, does that mean i have to edit my music or i can let it be? Thanks.
Thank you so much I have ES subscription and whenever I used popular current songs, I get copyright claims 3 0ut 4 shorts videos. I’m disappointed to the point of wanting to cancel my subscription! I either delete the videos in which case Imlost the views, then reload it back with a different music from ES and the replacement got copy right claims also so I resorted to replacing them with music from youtube library that have not received copyright claims, so I hope they stay that way.
I would you can hire people to ghost write music for you get 100 percent copyright on the music and then use it to your own hearts content without having to deal with the drama of epidemic I am sorry that happened to you like it did me
It should- i haven’t seen any negative algorithm effects on claimed videos, though some claims restrict the video from being shown in certain countries.
Hi , one quick question If I am not planning to monetise, i just want my content on youtube with music from epidemic, is there a way they remove the content if i use epidemic music ?
What happens if you have a subscription, upload a video, then say a year or two later you don’t have a subscription. Will it still be able to be monetized because you were subscribed when you uploaded it?
Interesting. You said at 0:45 + that you get the money back for the watch time that was "unmonetized" between the time the claim was placed and the time the claim was lifted. Someone sent me your video today because yesterday, via "chat" with RUclips C/S, the YT rep told me that I won't get that money back. First he tried to tell me that during the time my videos were under the "copyright claim", my video was blocked and wasn't shown to anyone (ie no views). But I could see in the analytics that my videos were indeed viewed during that timeframe. Then the YT rep told me that, nevertheless, I wasn't going to get that money back for the "lost monetization". My other contact said the YT rep is wrong and sent me your video. I hope you are right! 🙂
This is great! What if someone else posts the video on their RUclips? Can I place a copyright disclaimer or something to protect myself when I don't have control over other people's actions?
I'm very close to being monetized, am just under the 4K watch hours threshold so maybe this will be different because of that. I'm still fuzzy on Content ID claims verses Copyright Strikes. I've had a license with Epidemic Sound and have been making videos using their music since March of this year (although I only just now realized that I should have linked my RUclips channel to it). I always get a Content ID claim when I post my videos but it says "this is not a copyright strike" and that my channel is not affected. I can see that I'm getting credit for the watch hours, but what's going to happen once I break through 4K watch hours and become monetized? Will they then say that I can't monetize these videos until I clear them? Is it necessary to go through the motions of removing the Content ID claim at this point? thanks!
Hi! In short, yes- you will need to remove the copyright claims before those videos can be monetized. A strike is different than a claim. A strike is a more extreme action taken by google for serious copyright infringement (like reposting a movie) or for breaking their terms by posting something inappropriate. Strikes can lead to your channel being banned, but claims just mean you can’t monetize the claimed video, but the watch hours etc. still count. Hope this helps!
