- Case study 92 answer - Cerebral aneurysm and subarachnoid hemorrhage🧠
An estimated 1 in 50 people in the United States live with a brain aneurysm. The worldwide prevalence is around 3.2%
Although life threatening brain aneurysms aren’t as common, some lifestyle habits can increase a person’s risk of developing them. In particular, uncontrolled hypertension, smoking, and illicit drug use are known contributing factors.

My nephew had a standstill surgery for an arteralvenous malformation. He has migraine headaches now but thd only deficit he has is tgat he can not remember why he was in the hospital. He had a rocky recovery with CSF pressure above 80 for three weeks. He was able to get married and become a father after his surgery. He is miracle in my mind.
This is what we lost my aunt to back in the late 80s - she was in her 40s but back then everyone smoked and my dad’s family is heavily laced with history of high blood pressure, heart disease and strokes. She did go to the ER but because she had a history of migraines, they simply gave her a pain shot and sent her home to sleep it off - she never woke up. It was devastating to our whole family.
As a patient with 2 spinal fusions already in my history, high blood pressure and this family history - I seriously will be evaluating the drive from Pensacola to Atlanta to see Dr Grunch when I can’t tolerate these cervical issues anymore.
As someone with frequent headaches this is one of fears.
Same, I have episodic migraines (used to be chronic) and I especially worry about things like stroke as well as aneurysm. My neurologist told me to call if there are new or worsening symptoms. Especially if it’s like the worst headache of your life I think it’s a good time to call a doctor.
My guess was right or close! My MIL had the thunder clap headache 11 years ago. Symptoms mirrored this patient. She was so lucky to survive.
Great case! Please keep sharing.
Thank you Dr. Great case and great explanations!
I lost a friend to a ruptured brain aneurysm. She was walking down the stairs and suddenly grabbed her head. Her husband caught her as she fell and she died before the ambulance arrived. 😢
Omg. I’m so sorry. Condolences. 🙏
So sorry for your loss, that’s awful.
Had one of those sudden, excruciating and nauseating headaches from MSG 😱 and again from elevated BP. Thank heavens there was no aneurysm or bleed.
This is honestly one of my biggest fears is having an aneurysm... I have headache migraines everyday for my neck pain... they say that your brain doesn't have any pain receptors but I've been woken up before to the most excruciating pain in my head it felt like somebody was grabbing my brain and squeezing it at the same time it felt like I was being electrocuted. It scared the living heck out of me and I almost got up and went to the hospital I didn't go back to sleep because I was scared that I wasn't going to wake up
So, what happens to the lucky ones who survive something like this? Are there additional complications? Increased risk of another?
Aunt and uncle's friend died this way.
You are a godsend ❤❤❤
My friend driving home to put his house on the market and retire to live with the lady he planned to marry, had a burst aneurysm in his brain. His van struck the central reservation and tipped over, skidding to a halt on it's side 200m away.
My friend Dougie was dead as soon as it burst.
I'm thankful that it was so quick, a sharp pain in the head and goodnight Vienna.
Any chance of GKRS in these cases?
Circle of Willis is like the blood highway that then feeds the suburban streets of the brain 🧠 😂
Why is it more prevalent in women
Can have no symptoms
