You talked me into making my own. I love every steps you took.
Thanks for the video....
As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement ruclips.net/user/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
Hello, I just ripped 2 by 4s down with a table saw. Then, cut them to different lengths on the miter saw.
I love how truly excited and happy he is that he did it for so cheap! Yay for DIY!
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!
This is awesome! I believe Lowes or even Home Depot can cut The Wood Planks to size if requested I'd like to try this
I think you are right Damien! Most of the big box stores will cut them for you!!
Great job. I used this as a guideline but bought my screen material on Amazon. Although I have the tools, Lowes or Home Depot will cut the 1x4’s for all the folks without saws.
Great idea having them cut the wood for you at the store!
I wish I saw this video before I bought my screen: now I'll be using the one I built and keep the other as a backup. Very quick and easy project, yet hugely satisfying. Thank you for the inspiration and suggestions!
Glad you could find some inspiration from the video...and thanks for the comment!
I love this projector! Picture quality is great and you can even watch movies on it! 10/10 Recommended
For sure! Bring the movie theater right into your own home!
Sweet write up. I am curious how this material compares to other materials that marketed projector screens use. I wonder if there is resolution loss with this setup?
Still coming through in 2020..Awesome video, Thank you!
Its not $30 anymore that's for sure 2021 wood prices! lol
You are so great!!! I’m so going to do this for my bedroom and do it for the patio outb back
Hi Jordan...you can never have too many huge projector screens around the house!
this is very helpful and looks nice & clean cut
Thanks...Glad I could help!!
You're cool.
Ha...Thanks!
I built one for less with a sheet of insulation foam core from Lowes or Home Depot, covered with a plastic picnic table cover from the Dollar Store.
Can you show a pic of that scrren
top tip: use a sheet of 3mm plywood for the screen front, it will strengthen everything and ensure a perfect flat screen when you fit the cloth. top tip number 2: buy a dark grey roller blind thats made to measure, top tip number 3, build a black screen, you wont need black trim around the edges and the contrast will be massively improved.
Fantastic Job.
I used a white and a black fabric cloth . When you use the black behind the white it absorbs the light better
Great tip!...glad it worked well for you!!
Me encantó, trataré de hacerlo, super idea.. 😁😁😍😍
This is a brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing the information.
Glad you enjoyed it Kai Spirit!
Thanks for this. I had to build 100 inch screen too and that is way i do it and i use lycra fabric that cost about 10€/1m or about 10$/40inch in us standards. So the cost is under 50$ for sure.
That sounds like it would be a good screen at a good price!
Great job, you just gave me an idea to make it double sided and install some hinges to the roof and magnets to hold in place and install a painting on the wall... whenever I would need the blank screen I would just pull it down....
Sounds great! good luck with the project!
Great job!! Thanks for sharing!!
Nice video! I’ve been shopping around for a screen and everywhere I go they want $300+ I would rather build it myself cheap for same results as expensive store bought ones. Thanks!
You made a awesome video for 2019 cool
I guess I'll be building my own projector screen now. Thanks man...
ya if u have all that equipment's & talent why not
perfect video. no lame music, niot a lot of talking...just straight and to the point
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Excellent project Chad!! I absolutely love it!
Thanks Kristin...I am glad you liked it!!
I like your teamster union shirt!
Great Job!
I need to confirm my calculation for the horizontal boards on the frame. I see you cut the vertical 52". I get the horizontal 84", since the are placed in between laterals. Please let me know if ok.
Looks great, Chad... This project gets rid of ANY excuses not to have a projector screen...
Thanks Mitch...I agree!
This great screen I'm going to do thanks
Thank you! This is VERY helpful!
I'm glad it help!
Nice job!
Thank you for sharing us for free your very useful knowledge. Have a nice days!
love it!! I will be doing this soon!!!
Good Luck!
Hi Chad,
I have to admit, you have a really nice videos and projects. I've seen your DIY Wood Strip Wall Art and decided to go this way in my living room. But now I saw the wood strips wall next to the projector screen. I love it!!! Could you give me some hints how to achieve such great result?
Thanks
Vaclav
Hi Vaclav! I made the wood strip wall next to the projector screen like this: I starting be running 2 by 4 pine lumber through my table saw. I kept adjusting the fence on the saw so I would get different thickness strips of wood. Then I cut all those strips on the miter saw into different lengths. This gave me a ton of little wooden blocks that were both different lengths and widths. Then I just glued them up randomly on the wall to get the look I wanted. If you have anymore questions let me know!
Excellent work Lad
Thanks!
When stretching it; it's a good idea to staple all four centers and then work your way to the corners; depending on how stretchy the fabric is. Cheers
Hey, thanks for this tip!
Woww. This came out very nice. Thank u
Thanks for the comment Saul!
Awesome Idea !!
Thanks Bobby!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
What is your show vac set up for your Greg jig? Would love to see your set up.
great video !!
Really cool video! If only I had carpentry skills and tools like you haha. Cheers man!
I don't really have great skills, but the tools do help!
@@chaddiy3512 :D
ammzing realy exellent screen
good luck man
Thanks!!
legit, dude. looks fuun.
Thanks Chris...you can never have too big of a screen!
Thank you.
The best black or white color for 4k ???
Mate, well done. Thanks
Thanks Dave!
Awesome!!!
good job
I used my wall to install film and then put thin borders around just like you
Thant sounds like it would work just as well!
Hola buenas noches cómo está , está bonita la pantalla, qué pena no hablo inglés, de todas maneras le voy a seguir con sus modelos saludos desde Perú felíz año nuevo un abrazo.
What a bunch of odd comments about his tools... Obviously the guy already had tools and does woodworking of sorts. What's the big deal? You don't need a band saw. And as someone who does woodworking, anyone with any sense of having the ability to reason, can do this with very low end tools. Borrow a friend's chop saw. Round the edges with just a sander. You don't need the expensive kreg pocket hole jig. Just take a minute and figure it out instead of dumping on the guy for having tools to show how he did this. So many entitled people...
yes he has cheaper tools then me. but i refuse to do pocket holes.
Dude this is one of the worst tutorial videos I have ever seen exactly for those reasons you don't like. Making a tutorial for a simple things with complicated professional tools is the dumbest thing ever. Why are you angry about the comments? Can't you see there are so many because they are right lol.
So many low IQ people (it's scary), not entitled. See ^, this guy needs tutorial to connect few planks.
@@melanieenmats It's a simple project, just use the tools you have and adapt. Be creative.
all you really need is a drill to be honest. You can figure out all of your dimensions before you even buy the wood, and then have it all cut for you at home depot, lowes etc.
Brilliant!
Thanks!!
30 bucks with over 3,000.00 dls
worth of tools ! Great Job and Great Video !
Amazing Work - keep IT going my Friend :) greetings
bro. what is best colour to use for wall projector & what type of material you recommend
You should really attach the shopvac hose to the back of the router table! Saves you a ton in cleanup.
This is a good tip!
great Chad! Good one.
Thanks Michael!
I notice you haven't posted any videos in awhile. I hope your okay Mr. Chad . Thanks for you lovely videos and wonderful personality!
I am doing fine Macy! I sold my house and I am actually building my own small house now. I am hoping to start doing videos again this fall at my new location!
I'm wanting a bigger screen and also mine has a few ripples in a couple of corners. You notice most with movement and straight lines.
I have a standard type projector so would work good.
Might not work as well with laser short throw due to angle. I did a test with my screen and laser for curiosity and lit up the ceiling. : (
Interesting, I have never used a laser one before. good luck with your project!
Wow bro just found ur channel love what ur doing with it and really like ur shop n I see we got the same delta bandsaw that thing is heavy as hell but they don't make them like that anymore I think mine is from 1954 but runs like a champ paid 75 for it off Craigslist I would of paid triple that but couldn't pass it up
Glad you like my channel! I think my band saw is a 1948. I got it from one of my buddy's dad and I paid $50 for it. Best buy of my life! I put a new blade on it and it runs great. Carrying down to my basement in two parts was one of the heaviest things I have every moved myself!
Thank you for a great video !! How is the quality of the image projected on this fabric compared to the fixed frame projector screens being sold on Amazon?
Hello, the DIY screen I thought worked great, I never did compare it to an Amazon one.
Fantastic job man! I absolutely love your work table. wuld you mind providing the dimensions so I can copy it? :) Thanks!
Thanks! Here is a link to were I got the idea for the work table. www.homebuiltairplanes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4456 The table size is 4ft by 8ft.
Great video, plan on following this with my own project, am curious however if you did that brick on the side ur self?
Hi Eric, Yep I did the "brick" on the side. I actually just cut up some scrap 2 by 4 lumber in different lengths and widths. Then I just glued them to the drywall. Really easy to do, but it did take awhile!
wow!!!...that's smart.,i will try to do the same i need a projector screen... :)
Good luck!
I actually got distracted from the tutorial. You have some really cool tools!
Thanks Fritz! It is always more fun to build something when you have a lot of different tools to use!
Damn good job
Thanks!
Nice video. Sub'd. I'm looking to build a screen for outside that will roll up for easy storage.
Thanks for the Sub!...and good luck on your build!!
Bravoooooooooo
Nice tutorial, would you share the Pneumatic stapler, Info? Thank you!
Thanks! Here is my affiliate link to the stapler. amzn.to/2mUpKyQ It has worked great for me!
Genius 👍
Thanks Mad Brawler!
thank you!!!
Hope the video helped!
I Just got one its white ive orderd a Lcd projeter is white bad can i straying pant it to be black
hi chad, great project, what's the length of the (horizontal) boards? - you've indicated the vertical boards are 45 inches.
Hi Tony, I think the horizontal boards were 89 inches long.
Hey Chad DIY, did you ever have problems with those 1x4's warping? I'd imagine the center brace helped but I'm afraid of it showing through as a ridge.
HI Tom, I was a little concerned with that as well but it was never an issue for me.
Hi Chad, what's the screw size?
Nice
Thanks!
Awesome video might be a little more money now days but still good on budget
Thanks! Yeah...Would cost more today, but still should be able to do it pretty cheap!
cool. thanks
No problem P G!
Curious as to what projector you have. I'm trying to make a budget friendly home theater and the projector is the biggest cost. Thanks for any input or suggestions!
Here is what I used... Acer H5380BD projector amzn.to/2hKuiqV affiliate link
I paid $11 at Joanne's fabric. Great idea
You can't beat $11 for the fabric! Good luck with the build!
What’s the model of your projector it looks nice and clear with right clarity.
I have the link in the video description...it does offer a nice picture for the price!
Is the fabric side your front side?
Paint the screen a light grey with a metallic paint mixed in for enhanced contrast and deeper blacks.
amazing! the blackout cloth is the same for blackout curtains?
Yep...it would be the same fabric!
Chad DIY may i ask what model of projector you are using??
good job how did you make the cabinet under the screen
Hi Andrew! I made the cabinet out of 3/4 oak plywood and then used real oak wood strips on the front edge. I actually recessed it into the wall when I was framing my basement so that is how it just "floats" like that and is strong enough to hold all my equipment.
what kind of cloth was that u used for the screen?
hai,, may i know how does the screen works in daylight? have you try it.. is it clear during daylight
Hello, The screen worked very well in daylight as well.
looks awesome to be so simple. to get the size screen you have in the video what is the measurement of the frame boards cut too?
Hi Bradley, the screen size is 7 feet 5 inches wide by 4 feet 4 inches high.
Chad DIY thanks! so that gives you a little over 7 foot x 5 foot viewing area after border was put on?
Well it would give you a little less because the boarder blocks a a little bit of the 7'5'' original screen. Screen size is usually measured diagonally so I ended with about a 100" screen after the boarder was installed.
Chad DIY ok thanks, again looks great!
Hey I love this and where did you get the decor on each side of the screen and what is it called?
Thanks! I made the decor on each side out of scrap 2 by 4 lumber. I cut them to different lengths and thicknesses and them glued them to the drywall.
Sweet
bonjour la toile vous avez commander ou merci
Great video! What is your guess on the weight of this frame? I want to build this for the patio but the wife is not going to let me drill holes in the siding. I was thinking about using heavy duty command strips?
I think the strongest 3m straps should work...it really doesn't weight that much. Goodluck!
good job!
could you please kindly tell me how to select the right Blackout cloth which you've bought from JoAnnes Fabric),thanks.
Hi Andy, I think this is the same stuff I used. www.joann.com/roc-lon-budget-blackout-white-white/2117232.html
thank you
How many yards of fabric
Would a black cloth make a better image quality or do you really need white?
Hello, I think white or gray work the best, but I am not an expert on it.
This was a fun project, thank you for sharing your DIY screen idea, Chad!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Just wondering…. Is it possible to do this but with a tarp.
I don't think a tarp would reflect the light very well, but it would be pretty cheap to try it out!
Hello - can I asked what type of wood did you use? I've read that poplar is one of the best to use. Thanks!
I used pine, but poplar would be better. It is a harder wood and doesn't warp as easily.
What projector do you have? Picture looks great.
here is my Amazon Link! amzn.to/2hKuiqV
clean and classy my friend! clean and classy... and that miter saw... top notch
Thanks Anthony!
Had a quick question about the measurements. In the video you said you were cutting boards to 89 and 52. But in three comments I saw 89 and 45 which ones should I use? I'm building a 100 inch screen as well.
Hi Steve!, Sorry for the confusion. I believe you would cut the smaller boards at 45 inches. These 3 boards go in between the 89 inch boards. The 1 by 4 boards are actually 3 1/2 inches wide so you add 45 inches plus two 3 and a half inch boards and that gives you the 52 inches that I refer to in the video. Hope that makes sense!
Does having the blackout cloth hide the middle support for your frame to where it is not seen when the image is projected on the screen?
Hi Victor, Yep...I never have noticed the middle support. The cloth completely blocked it out!
