Will, I agree with your 'beautiful morning' feelings. Since it got so hot, that is my favorite time of the day. One thing I enjoy is to be flying before sun up, and at some point I start seeing the sun's rays shining on my plane while it has not reached the ground yet where I am. Boy your little geese friends are real squatters! I guess they have come to know about your planes real well. - Some very nice flying and good rudder work on the runway. I hear you about the really hard tires on these e flite birds. That noise as they roll is something else. I only have one favorable opinion about those hard tires. If a person has crosswind or whatever causing them to start turning (sliding sideways) at a little too high a speed - the hard tires can be a little more forgiving. Softer tires in a sideways slide seem to grip more and can cause the gear to start trying to hop and bounce, and if bad enough the plane has a good chance of getting over on to a wing tip and maybe end up on the nose / prop tips. In a similar situation, I have seen the hard tires chatter and skip a bit sideways across the asphalt without trying to damage the plane. (At least that's my opinion) Glad you had a good morning with your Thunderbolts!
Thanks.. Always appreciate your support and comments. I had Dubro soft foam tires on my Eflite P-51 and really liked the way it made the plane a little softer on landings, but I know what you are saying about grabbing if the plane gets a little squirrelly while rolling out.. I agree there is a balance...
Thanks.. You'll love the P-47, it a wonderfully balanced plane that does it all. High speed maneuvering and/or slow speed cruising around. Much wider flight envelope than the Eflite P51..
Yep.. Live and breath in STL.. I fly at Buder several times a week. Usually very early am.. 6:30 - ???? Your club has a great setup.. I just wish is wasn't so far for me to drive.. Otherwise, I join there... Will
