Metal piping holds heat. Plastic does not. And corksport just came out with the better turbo inlet. I would be curious to see the difference between them with that new piece. Adding the axle back muffler made it even better than just the intake!! But will need to get the inlet on to try too! I have the mazda6 gt reserve and man wish I had the awd you do!
yea but i’m pretty sure the plastic gets pretty hot. at least with the burger its pulling in cold air. for corksport u might be pulling in more volume but hotter air. looking at the dyno sheets they’re nearly the same results. corksport is just more expensive cause u gotta buy everything separately
at the end of the day colder air is always gonna be helping with lowering temps and burning fuel more completely. unlike short it’s always gonna be pulling hot air from the bay making intake temps worst and not helping the tank. it’s all preference though. get what makes u happy 🤙🏽
@@marsmazdat really doesn't matter with turbo setups. The money spent vs the performance gains are not really worth it on turbo setups. Especially this one. I have a CX-5 turbo myself and honestly a drop in filter is all you really need before tuning gets involved. The computer will adjust for the difference anyways and most owners for the current Mazda turbos get the intakes are just for the induction noises. Corksport even has a dyno chart to show that their cold airbox setup barely made a difference but made that product because people demanded for it. NA setup benefit a lot with intake heatshields and cold air setups.
Hey man, just wanted to say you're my main inspiration for eventually modding my turbo 3 once my warranty expires. I've had the burger cold air intake sitting around for a couple months waiting for me to install it. How has it held up for you?
thanks man, that means a lot! it’s been good so far, i’ve had it for about a year now. i’d recommend getting a hydro shield cause its really kept the filter clean. also what’s nice about it is that during the summer i have it stage 2 and during the winter i have it stage 1 just to be safe

Just got mine installed today. Sounds awesome but I’m curious.. Did you reinstall the undertray that was removed to get access to mount the filter? Burger told me to not reinstall it but I’m concerned about the possibility of snow and water getting into that area. Additionally it leaves the wheel well super floppy and noisy. Unsure about older models but at least I’m the 2023 PremPlus with that front aero kit, there was a significant amount more screws/clips holding it into place including some hidden behind under panels.

it doesn’t get forced airflow like the oem air duct but it does get cold air because it’s out of the engine bay. cold air boosts engine power and efficiency
yea snow shouldn’t be a problem. rain/floods is what u should worry about. where i live it mainly rains during the winter so i switch it to short ram (stage 1) just to be extra safe. during the summer i put it back to cold air (stage 2). if u have the tools it’s a simple process to go to stage 1 or 2.
I’m curious are you concerned at all with hydro locking even with the hydro shield? Also do you think it’s really far enough from the engine bay that’s it’s getting cooler air. Thanks. My concern with aftermarket intakes is the heat swamp it’s sucking in during hot days sitting in traffic. Just seems to kill your engine after years of that.
i’m pretty confident with no hydro locking unless ur driving through floods haha. i’ve had 2 other cars with cai’s through the front bumper and had no problems at all. and yes cai’s do get colder air from drawing it through the front bumper and makes a big difference. the engine bay gets pretty hot. never really heard of problems with our cars heat soaking but a cai will help that for sure
@@joaquinbarreto9398 That compartment is well sealed off with multiple splash guards underneath that are pretty nice. I clamped the hydro shield between it and the filter. If you install the stage 2 you might as well address the blow by issue with their oil catch can. It'll route on top of where the CAI meets the turbo. Also saves you a lot of time and headache addressing them together.
@@DavidTMSNI want to prevent oil in my turbo and intercooler but I'm really torn on the OCC after seeing people take them back off. Reasons being: bad smell in the garage, leaking rear main seal, and can freezing up in the winter.
@@matsudakodo I've had the occ on since March and have not seen anything in mine...bone dry. These cars don't have a huge blow by problem from what I can tell. It's almost got 8K now. Can you elaborate on the rear main seal leak issue?
You can pull 10 degree air from your cold air intake but your inter cooler brings it up to 70 so how’s that better it’s your intercooler kid now if your n/a you would be right
because the colder air is helping cool everything. i wouldn’t want hot air making it worst… i know what an intercooler is papi, im just tryna say at least the cold air is trying to help lol

id go with the stage 2. the intake is still well protected behind the bumper and doesn't hang too low. its a lot better drawing cold air and not hot air from the engine bay. u should also get a hydro shield for the intake for added protection.

yea sadly no type of cai that routes behind the bumper for ur car but i saw that afe takeda uses the oem air duct with their short ram intake. should almost be as good as the cai and u don’t got to worry about any type of hydro locking

yes i reset my mpg average and went from 27 to 29 mpg combined
