Let's be honest here, 99% of speed enforcement is simply to generate revenue. Cars are faster and safer than ever before, it's the drivers who lag behind, that and the speed limits. He was looking for someone who was speeding and a juicy target, enter the BMW. The only difference here, was he decided to floor it and go, you could tell the cop wasn't really interested. I definitely felt safer and more comfortable after getting it removed, when I could just follow the speed of traffic in front of me by paying full attention to the road, than having to constantly switch between looking ahead and looking at the dash.

In my distant past, I've done this on more than one occasion.....Zoom past the cop...see him pull out to get behind me...kill my lights (tail lights) then punch it and go balls to the wall to hit the next exit.....wait until last minute to brake (minimizing brake lights exposure), then hit that crossover to jump back on the opposite direction.....then hit the next exit...pull into a McDonalds, have a burger then be on my merry way.
The ironic thing about only time I’ve been pulled over for speeding it was when I wasn’t speeding. Literally pulled me over for 70 in a 70 and tried to say I was going 70 in a 40. But I pulled over right in front of a sign that said the speed limit was about to reduce to 55. He told me why he pulled me over and I pointed to that sign. “I didn’t know 40 was greater than 55 sir. This is a 70 zone” He apologized and drove away.

I passed a cop sitting on the side of the highway, saw his tires kick up a little dust from the dirt, and I punched it to 145mph, got off 2 exits down, and took the back roads home. Never even had a chance to see my plates. Or if someone comes for me, I'm lying, prove it. Or maybe statute of limitations applies.
Not sure what technology US cops use, but in Australia a cop car scans the registration plates of every car passing it, they can see instantly if the cars registered, insured and who owns it.

In my opinion the way American cops "enforce the law" is terrible and needs to be changed, it shouldn't be legal for a cop to follow you closely trying to entrap you into doing something illegal unless they run plates and find warrants or a suspended license or something. But they look for anything and everything to give them a reason to pull you over, the #1 cause of accidents is distracted driving, when a cop is following you what is that doing? Making my eyes dart back and forth from my speedo to the road DISTRACTING you from a possible obstacle in the road.

In my distant past, I've done this on more than one occasion.....Zoom past the cop...see him pull out to get behind me...kill my lights (tail lights) then punch it and go balls to the wall to hit the next exit.....wait until last minute to brake (minimizing brake lights exposure), then hit that crossover to jump back on the opposite direction.....then hit the next exit...pull into a McDonalds, have a burger then be on my merry way.

The ironic thing about only time I’ve been pulled over for speeding it was when I wasn’t speeding. Literally pulled me over for 70 in a 70 and tried to say I was going 70 in a 40. But I pulled over right in front of a sign that said the speed limit was about to reduce to 55. He told me why he pulled me over and I pointed to that sign. “I didn’t know 40 was greater than 55 sir. This is a 70 zone”

I outran a cop once. I gotta admit, it was an amazing feeling.
