Great video - The repair process is identical to the 830 screen replacement, which I just fixed in the same way. I used a thin shim "screen opening tool" (iparts4U) rather than a razorblade which made prizing the screen off very straightforward. The 830 has two flex leads which need a bit of care (and something called a spudger, apparently - also from iparts4U) to re-fit these securely.
Nice video. I changed the screen on my Edge 530 easily thanks to your video. I've changed Pixel phone batteries before, so I used 3M tape around the sceen instead of that aliexpress glue, and tools that are safer than the blade you use.
Great video. I was able to replace the screen but the new screen is 99% less brighter than the original screen - rendering it completly unusable. (All settings are set to brightest, manual, daylight mode). Are there different standards of replacement screens? Any thoughts on this issue would be appreciated?
Hello, I have a Garmin 530 that doesn't start normally, whenever it turns on it goes back to the test screen and only restarts if I reset it. Please do you have any solution or have you already been through this?
Hi I have a Garmin Edge 820 that I dropped and the screen would only display a backlight so I ordered a new screen and the new screen also only displays the backlight. Did the proximity sensor possibly get damaged or is there something else I can check?
Thanks for the great video. My 530 has a strange problem: the bottom buttons swapped functionality after the unit was dropped. 2x months later both buttons stopped working (no response to pushing buttons, so cannot start or stop a new activity). Apart from that unit seems to function normally. I have opened the unit after following your instructions and can see another small board at the base of the unit. Do you have any suggestions about how to fix the problem with the lower buttons?
I bought mine on aliexpress, i just changed it. I put 3M tape around it. I bought a roll of that on Aliexpress too. It's super narrow, used to glue screens and phone back covers when you change batteries and so on.
Yes good but he says that’s it’s an 530 so no wonder why the touchscreen doesn’t work. The 530 uses buttons, not touch. I think it’s the 830 that have touchscreen.
Great Video! Thanks for sharing! Does anyone know if the batteries are all the same in the Edge Explore, 530 and 830? :D And what specs they have? I mostly find replacement batteries specified for older models (e.g. 820) Thanks a lot! :D

Wow I replaced my screen thanks to you!!! So grateful for your help

Your video helped me a lot. I owe you a beer
Worked a treat. Thank you very much kind sir. Out of curiosity, would the replacement hamper it's water resisteant properties?

I had similar problem, as a workaround I bought the Garmin Edge remote control button which will allow you to stop\start\lap
Hello, I had my screen on my Garmin Edge 530 fall out! Do your new screens come with the ribbon as well? Can you send me the link to the buy page?

Yup, 530 is button, 830 touch.
