It took me way too long to realize that Ivan was just trying to placate her to get the review taking down and Rico just doesn't get it, "NO, THERE'S NOBODY ON OUR STAFF THAT LOOKS LIKE THAT"
Impressive that you managed to find an interesting fresh take on the “bad boss” archetype that’s been done a million different ways throughout media. I like that he’s a clueless hard-headed tough guy, but obviously a big softie who’s oddly protective of his team. It’s been done before in certain ways, but your version of the trope is unique and likable. I like that he isn’t completely dumb and stubborn. Like when he’s gleeful about Ivan getting exposed, but also gives him credit for the good idea of calling the customer. Little character moments like that are one thing I really like about these.
Thank you, that comment means a lot. I knew it would be challenging to create a unique boss character, without also re-treading the same ground as Michael Scott. Glad to hear it's going well. There's still a lot more of Rico to uncover
I really hope the three people who disliked the video get called personally and have to justify if what they disliked about the clip was even in the video. This is awesome!
I just didnt like when the blonde mustache guy cam in the screen and started talking about his political views. It wasn't even the fact that he was mis informed about 80% of the thing he said its just how he made such loud groaning noises every time he trew the ball down the bowling allie... I just dont understand why someone would take their time to animate such a guy.
I like how the boss says “right?” And looks straight at the camera I also really love how after Rico knows that he’s wrong totally has Ivan’s back, but doesn’t have the social grace to follow along with Ivan’s defusal
@@Garth2the2ndpower its not even exclusive to businesses. He just kept calling me a cokhead lol.
def not all customers but as someone’s worked in food service for years, different locations, it takes a lot of positivity, reminders, big picture, and mental strength to remember the world isn’t full of evil, stupid people who want the worst for you
This is so damn good and hilarious. I love how the boss is even like "Okay this customer is just insane". I feel like deep down Rico is a genuine person, and like in the last episode, he's stuck in this rat race like all of us. Although I am curious how things are going for the two who left the bowling alley after it got trashed and Rico yelled at them. Did they leave the job? I was curious how they were gonna move forward. I hope we get to seee more of this show, as I'm feeling a lot of the bullshit as a 22 year old in the workforce, currently working at a grocery store thats only concerned with profits.
When Rico started to wave his arms around in the first couple of seconds, I knew something was up. The animation is much more fluid, is this an intentional shift? It feels like a proof of concept of what Day Job could look like on a larger budgeted pipeline, as the color rendering compared to other officially released episodes is much more watercolor-like. Either way I'm loving it
Honestly yeah, as a still image I had thoughts about how Rico was designed but his expressions are done so well in animation, it immediately impressed me too
Holy shit as someone who works in the service industry this phone call sounds like it was ripped straight from my job. People will argue about shit like this incessantly and they are never in the wrong because they're perfect and have never made a mistake. And they're so godamn smug about being wrong too, I'm so happy I work the night shift so I barely have to deal with people
what kind of loser would ever give gutterball a bad review?? i went there once, got sick from one of the drinks they served and had a bowling ball lobbed at my head by a disgruntled customer. 10/10 service, you really can't complain.
I love the animation style. I hope you continue with these videos. The animation style reminds me of late 90's early 2000's animation. Maybe it's the chalk-like outlining or color palette used but I love it. I could watch a whole show of this. Normal everyday mundane things in everyone's life with quirky occasional moments with this art style. Edit: Just found out it is a show. Sweet!
I've left a negative review at about every job I've ever had with one exception. They usually don't catch me on it for a few reasons: I'm trans so i go by a different name than what they see on their documents, i keep to myself and don't cause drama at work, i usually switch jobs pretty fast.
0:57 of course they would. My favorite was someone gave a car a poor review for reliability because the dealership forgot to put oil in it. Just to clarify, they reviewed the car itself, not the dealership.
Lmfao I noticed the phone disappearing at the end, but the animation was still so good, and I love how awkward and genuine the conversation is while fitting in with the style, I hope we see more :D
I’ve heard about this show before, but this clip has made me interested in watching it now. Charming and funny characters with a bit of relatability to them. I wanna see more!
I love how the boss was actually on Ivan's side like he really was wrong
Yeah, Rico is a strangely reasonable boss despite being a loudmouth with a big ego.

not one curse word. kinda surprised myself to be honest
This is so much like Home Movies. I love it.
love me some day job content, the dialogue is the best
I really like that Rico insisted that ivan was right ❤
im so happy for more day job!!!
THIS WAS HILARIOUS 😆
Aw sick!
As someone who worked at a bowling alley with terrible management, this is too personal please delete this and animate something else.
YAY

I've noticed a trend of Rico genuinely believing that people with power over him are actually going to treat him fairly.
"I could tell he was staff from the way he carried himself" 🤣

Rico's immediate shift in expression when he hears the description of Ivan was hilarious. Perfect 180 in realizing he was wrong.
As someone who works at a bowling alley/arcade, I applaud the accuracy of this short. All customers are idiots, it's science.
That's not exclusive to bowling alleys.
Unless you mean to tell me that you've never bought anything in your life, doesn't that logic also make you an idiot?

I think the conceit is that this is a mockumentary, so it would actually be him speaking to the cameraman in universe no?

This is such a good exploration of Rico's character!!! I know he had an ego on him but not this much of one :P
The Voice Acting and Writing is impeccable. Fantastic work 😊
I don't know if this direction of voice acting was intentional but its giving me huge "Home Movies" vibes from Adult Swim.
Oh my god, I found the full episodes only a couple weeks ago and feared that was it. This little sketch means so much to me man.

Please never stop making stuff
It kinda seems like the boss has a lot of pride for his team which is why he didn’t just want to say it would be dealt with. That’s pretty sweet!
Bad customer service. Good quality animation.
Loved it!
awesome stuff
very fluently animated aswell nice one
A breath of fresh air to actually see management on the employee's side in these cartoons
Respect to Ivan for trying, but there's no way that would work in the long-term, and you probably don't want that person coming back anyway.
Amazing as always. You are seriously so talented and your stuff is so entertaining.
Instant classic ❤
Home Movies spiritual successor
omg other video of Day job, nice finally i love this videos
We need season 2 of dayjob bro pls 🙏🙏🙏
It will be sketches like this until i get to $1500 per month on patreon, then i can do more full episodes
As a rule of thumb the customer is almost never right
OMG new episode! I love Day Job so much
australian animation that isnt michael cusack??? Okay ngl this is epic
How come he looks at the camera and says "right?" is he talking to me? am I part of this universe? do I belong in this world of your creation?
