My boyfriend is on a waiting list for a waiting list for a specialist. I hate this country.

I had a tear in my vocal chords a few months back, went to my ENT doctor because I was desperate for treatment- and I swear on my life- when he used a camera to check my throat, he pushed the camera into the tear and made it worse. He took a pause, as if thinking about it, aiming and then drove the camera directly into the node. It hurt, stung and burned like a bitch. Once he saw me hurting, he pulled the camera out, avoided eye contact with me, turned away from me while speaking, nervously looked at me with my file in his hand and ran out the door to finish up the appointment. I didn’t say anything the entire time but looked completely shocked by his action. While checking out, I was hazed by the doctor and two additional nurses, that didn’t have anything to do with my appointment, for not having insurance. This was at St. Joseph’s hospital.

bro my doctor straight up diagnosed me with ehlers-danlos and then turned to my mom and said 'youve been dealing with similar problems, so you can just tell him how youve been treating it' like girl why go to the doctor when the Legit advice is handle it yourself 🥲 edit: also he didnt even put it in my medical file like bro the joint disorder is lowkey an important deal

Am I the only one who realized doctors are scammers from my early 20's and have avoided them like the plague ever since and also, magically, have been one of the healthiest people I know into my mid thirties?

For some people important medical procedures are optional, because they can't afford to pay for it.

Yeah, painfully accurate. The amount of times we've had to look for new doctors because the previous one just didn't want to do a proper check up for certain issues is alarming. And the amount of times we went to another doctor and found out it actually was a problem is also alarming. This actually happened to one of my toe nails, and by the time we found the issue, it was too late and had to be removed. So very good animated short.

But people shit on healthcare AI when doctors act like this on a regular basis. This short describes exactly why i don't trust doctors. The only thing missing is the, "well you're fat, just lose the weight" excuse. Like, did they really go to med school for ten years just to scam people every day? And i just mean emotionally scam by ignoring people's concerns, don't even get me started on the insurance scams many of them end up doing (over billing insurance companies knowing most patients will never see or question the charges, which is incredibly illegal but most of them don't get caught.)

I don't trust doctors for many, many reasons and this is a huge part of why. They really don't listen to you unless you're close to dying or getting a serious disease. Even then they halfass everything as much as possible.

I went to urgent care 4 times for shortness of breath and those as*holes wouldnt even give me a ct scan they ran a cheat xray ekg and some blood work but my SOB persosted anyway and i literally had to go to the er to get one. They found hyperinflation in a cheat xray and now i have to get a REFERRAL from my promary care physician to see a pulmonologist even tho the ER already recommended him to me. Health care in America is horrible were one of the wealthiest 1st world countries but we care about is the fu***** military, politics and ai advancements more than we do the health of our own ppl and its shameful

My dad hasn’t seen a dentist in 10 years, he sees one on Monday. He smokes, drinks, is overweight, doesn’t floss, barely brushes for 10 seconds. He started having a “slight” pain in one tooth . Took him 4 weeks to actually want to see a dentist. He has also over used oral pain relievers and pain medication. So. We will see what he does. Im betting money he is told he has to get them all removed . 😅

I went to see a dr about a sinus infection several years ago. They didn't even look up my nose, they just saw I had a cavity and assumed that was the cause of my "mouth pain" (yea, because just under my eye is where my mouth is...), gave me some antibiotics and sent me home. Not even so much as a culture swab. The antibiotics caused that entire side of my face and neck to swell up because, surprise! I was right and I had a _fungal infection_ in my sinus that the antibiotics caused to go crazy. How did I figure this out? My wife gave me one of her super powerful anti-fungal pills for the thrush in my mouth and that cleared up the swelling, pain and sinus infection in about two days, which is about how long the same pill takes to clear up one of her yeast infections. Now, I have chronic pain in that sinus from all of the scar tissue caused by the antibiotics and the doctors still insist it's the cavity causing the pain...

Healthcare is often a joke. I'm the one "feeling bad" for "wasting the doctors' time" at this point. I need to pull any answers or treatment out of them with a plier. It's ridiculous.
