Had it sitting on my HD for months. Turned it on a week ago. This is one of the best games. It’s its own thing. This one is timeless and deserves an remastered just for draw distance
A sequel is currently in the works using Unreal Engine 5! We will get to see a new entry very soon within a new engine and totally overhauled graphics; it's going to be incredible!
i just bought the game on sale and after like 3 hours so far, i can say that i've never experienced something extremely beautiful being just as terrifying at the same time. Im hesitating to start the game when i think about it, because it scares me so much. But as soon i overcome that initial fear, i want to explore & learn everything about that ocean. Definetly recommended. It's also interesting that the game doesnt tell you anything about survival at all. dive in and find a solution to avoid starving to death xD
It does such a unique job of providing that experience to the player. There are simply no other games that do it as well as Subnautica! So excited you started your adventure, God speed survivor 🫡
Hey man! Thank you making this video, I do truly appreciate it. Since I watched this video, I bought Subnautica while it was on sale, and though I haven't played it yet, I cannot wait until I get time to get on it for the first time. Once again, thank you!🤠
I played Subnautica for the first time a couple of years ago and it is still one of my favourite survival games, I had it for free on epic, but just recently purchased it on steam for the achievements. The game has an amazing way of lowering your guard with how beautiful some of the biomes are, then when you're thinking everything's ok... 😂 Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Thank you for making this! A spoiler free review is just what I needed as I was considering this game I used to play Endless Ocean on the Wii and the hear that this game is not always a scary game (which was one reason I hesitated) was a relief to find out Now I’ll be looking for it on sale & grab it Thanks again! :)
So glad I could help! It truly is a great game, and it is best enjoyed spoiler free! I've not heard of Endless Ocean (never had a Wii), so unfortunately, I can't offer up a comparison of the two, but Subnautica is a very unique game and I have full faith you will have a blast exploring it!
Nice Video mate !! just got this for switch !! might not be as good as my PC ... but f*ck it just a qucik question can you actually get to your crashed spacecraft in the distance >?>?
@@Pedigreedmoth been playing for around 30 minutes actually.. Pretty decent port on switch & only $10 atm... I have no idea what im doing ive not been a survival game player tried a few.. Didn't get into them...
Good review but could have been slightly more spoiler “free” in my opinion. For example the part about the other crew pods being dead. Also, is all the footage from the original subnautica or was some from below zero?
That's a good point. It didn't even really dawn on me that that could be considered a spoiler since the first time you step out of the pod, it says no lifeforms detected, but I'll keep that kinda stuff in mind with future videos. And it's been almost a year since I made the video, so I'm not 100% sure off the top of my head, but I'm fairly certain the footage was from the original game (and it's trailer) unless I was specifically mentioning something about BZ 🤔 i would have to rewatch it to know for sure though
@@Pedigreedmoth after finishing the game I realize that this was sort of my bad explaining as well. When I typed out that first comment I was about an hour in to the game, and I remember the things about no human life forms detected but I thought that was purely what was “detected” and I was hoping or anticipating some of the transmissions I was getting were live people in hiding or something. I soon realized that yes nobody is alive lmao. After playing the whole game, that is definitely hardly much of a spoiler at all, so you are forgiven haha. Also, I thought the footage was from Below Zero because I had not made it out of the safe shallow area yet, that’s how naive I was about the amazing surprise reveals this game had to offer. Safe to say I am so beyond impressed and this game completely blew away my expectations
I first "rode along" with a Twitch streamer, which was slog. I've since preferred to "see the elephant" with blind players who aren't streaming their episodes. The funniest was Neebs Gaming's "Support Desk From Hell" run in 2015. I've seen a number of Thalassophobes take their chances in spite of their "don't go near the water" fears. I recall one legendary player who paced around the top of Lifepod 5 in his first episode. His was the first completely above-sea-level base I'd ever seen, but like most of these players, he "got Alterra's bill." Big Game Hunters and Red Dead Redemption players have been a tad disappointed that this isn't a "kill the boss Alien" kind of game. Players who don't want to explore or "grind it out" gathering useful materials and tech usually never leave Planet 4546B. Two current blind players have provided unique LOL moments. One older player made FOUR Titanium ingots by his second episode. A younger player was so fascinated with Planet 4546B's underwater world that she tied the record for destroyed Seamoth submarines at FOUR. It's a sorta fun game for player and lurker alike, as people discover the rules, lore, and animals trying to "get a piece of the player.";) Back in the days of Sierra Online games, I was a fan of Space Janitor "Roger Wilco" of the "Space Quest" series. "Ryley Robinson" has the look/feel of that long-ago game character.
Great comment. Thanks for taking the time to say all of that. Some of those playthroughs sound pretty funny for sure. I think that's one of the things that helps Subnautica reach a wider audience because there's a little something for everyone that can be found beneath the waves. I can understand the disappointment from big game hunter types, but even they can find fun in going through the game to hunt the leviathans with only the prawn suit or a knife and stasis rifle. I remember early days seeing people posing videos of this game from super early access (where whole areas of the game were still unbuilt), and I fell in love with the art and style immediately. Bought it the next day to dive in myself, lol. It's a game I recommend everyone experience at least once because of how everything comes together to make a truly enjoyable game.
Interesting! I had never heard of that game before, I had to look it up. But from what I can see, if that's one of your favorite games, then Subnautica should be a blast for ya!
I just got Subnautica but I can only play at my dad’s house since my PC is there and my laptop can’t run it, so I’m looking up videos about it on RUclips here at my mom’s!
That's awesome! Glad to see you found my channel and are excited to play Subnautica! It really is a great game, and I look forward to hearing about your experience as you play through
Just started playing now 2024. WHAT A GEM! Nothing like Ive played before. It's a whole experiencie... So much anxiety throughout the game. PS.. Died in the first 20seconds
@skepticfucker280 they don't always do that, unfortunately, but you might be able to get a GamePass subscription for less for a short period of time. Subnautica is available through there!
@@Pedigreedmoth I'll end up getting it eventually but if it's on sale Monday when the xbox store swaps out the games I'll be able to grab instead of waiting till I have another 20 in xbox credit. :) If it is on sale Monday I'll leave a comment.
I feel ya! It has its moments for sure. It just wasn't designed as a horror game; the setting, sounds, and design just allow it to immerse you deeply... and of course the game is terrifying if you have thasslophobia 😅
what makes it quite terrifying is that the second you exit your lifepod you think ''oh this is gonna be easy" but then you realize it's not as when you explore the aurora you'll discover new marine life that will change the way you think of the game, every time you get farther and farther from the lifepod you'll start to feel anxious of what might attack you, as you'll never know when or what might approach you.
That is one of the things this game does best! The map design always forces the player to move just outside of their comfort zone to make progress each time, and every time you enter a new biome that anxiety comes back of "oh no what will I come across here"

If you're new to the game, visit the craters edge. It's one of the most beautiful new player friendly biomes.

Build a knife and a scanner early. And repair the lifepod/radio because the radio will deliver/progress the story. That should get you going!

One of the reasons why I want to play Subnautica, is because I am on MacOS (after 10.15), and there are very few games which are supported.
That's good to know, I don't know a lot about Macs. But if you can play it, it's definitely worth it in my opinion
