    Yes fuel pump has been contagious with me now my Mustang has fuel pump defect.
    Your video on how you rebuilt your Mustang gas pump is very educational. I learned how to the way you did it. But I already brought the whole gas pump unit and will be installing it.
    One thing you left out was your method on how to safely bring down the tank with using adjustable straps. Now that I saw that I will use as well.
    Thank you for the best video ever 👏👏👏

    Good job. If you break that yellow retaining clip good luck in finding a replacement. I like how you used those straps to drop the tank - I might try that next time instead of using a floor jack. If you do order a complete assembly with the housing, check that you can easily replace the fuel pump like this. Some aftermarket stuff isn't nearly as easy to replace a fuel pump as the OEM housing - reuse your OEM housing if you can. Be careful heating those hoses! (Don't use a heat gun) By the way, if your tank is full it'll be more difficult to drop that tank. Yes, I'm speaking from experience. I'm currently in the process of replacing my fuel pump but since I can't find a hose to replace the one I broke on my aftermarket housing I ordered a new pump with a supposedly OEM style housing (I can't find just the housing without a fuel pump) - that's why I say to be careful with buying aftermarket housings because it appears they usually don't want you to be able to replace the pump - they actually admit to that. Keep you OEM housing if you can! 2002 Mustang GT.

    Very informative video ! I like the ratchet strap method better than floor jack. I have a 2004 Mustang GT Convertible. My fuel pump just went out 2 days ago. Instead of the $30 pump you installed, I opted for a nice Bosch full assembly for $95. My car has 150k miles

    thats actually smart using tow straps to lower the tank never thought of that

    I just did this. After you change the pump check your 20Amp fuse after install. Somehow I blew the fuse and after install wouldn’t start. Killing my morale and ended up changing the CCRM for $150 before I rechecked the fuse.

    Also i really prefer the bolt in method they used for the mustang. The f150s have a lock ring style pump. They get rusty and are a bitch.

    • @itsnotan8

      I like it better as well. The Bronco has the lock ring kind too, and it was rusted badly.

  • @MaxHPep
    @MaxHPep 3 года назад +1

    Great video man. How were you able to clean the fuel tank with the fuel pump holder in the way? I have a lot of contaminants in mine, and I'm not sure if it's feasible to clean or if I should just replace it

    • @itsnotan8
      @itsnotan8  3 года назад +1

      Thank you! Granted my tank didn't have much trash in it. What I did was I kept sloshing the gas back and forth by pickup up one side of the tank. Sort of washing the sediment to settle to the side I wasn't picking up. I used a pump to kind of "vacuum up" the sentiment and pump out the tank. I had a filter in line before the pump so I got out clean gas I later used in my generator. If it's rust and the tank is rusting, I'd replace it.

    Haha, I literally just started this project a couple days ago. It was whining and the engine sputtered at ~4000 rpm so I couldn't stay in the optimal power band. It finally broke so I have to do all of the work next to the curb in front of my house.

    • @itsnotan8
      @itsnotan8  3 года назад

      Yep, sounds like the fuel pump was getting weak before it gave out and it was starving for fuel. Hope you get it back up and running soon!

    I dont understand why people are still using these gas hose removal tools... They take forever to remove the lines... I just use a small flathead screw driver and it takes me around 10 seconds max !

      @@itsnotan8 @21:14, the blue parts are what I had a hard time with pulling out. I ended up pulling them out, however I’ve been searching all over the internet for new valve seals which go around the blue parts and have not found a match. About a week ago I ended up ordering a valve seal from cjpony parts for the modes of 98. They did not have a seal for 99 so I just ordered it too see if it would fit. My luck, it doesn’t fit. It’s too small. I’ll end up sending it back and trying to look for new seals

      @@oscarguzmanz I don't see anything blue at that time stamp. You mean 9:14?
