Let's all RESPECT the talent of Perry, Augeri, and Pineda. All of them are awsome! Each one performed this song in their on way.
This is the way Augeri performed this song and STOP BASHING HIM.

Steve Augeri put a lot of heart and soul into singing those old Journey songs.Which by the way are really demanding on the vocal chords. Although he didn't have the vocal range as Steve Perry, Augeri gave it his all.And he should be commended for that. "Great job Steve!" Got to see them in Birmingham, Alabama with Augeri and he was absolutely brilliant. Wish he was still with them! The Arrival cd is one of my favorites of all time. Every song on it is great!

Steve Augeri may not be as technically skilled as Steve Perry, but he has a gorgeous voice with a so much heart and personality. I think he is pretty underrated

Steve Perry can never be replaced. But i am happy journey moved on with singers who delivered what was needed. Feel. With their own charisma augeri, arnel gave a lot to the band.
Voices should never be compared. Its a different chapter altogether.

I was blessed to see Steve P, Steve A, many times Steve P was the the king Steve A was amazing & was driven in to the the ground vocally from the rigorous tour in 06 & needed time to heal his throat infection, He pushed himself to the point it ended the tour for him, and was instantly replaced by Jeff Scott Soto instead of stopping it was all about the money, at-least their trying to ad more singer help for Arnel this 24 tour, before it happens again

I find Augeri to fit better than Pineda, let me explain. Essentially a replacement singer is fitting his voice INSIDE the vocal range of the original singer. Augeri managed to get very close and make it sound natural compared to Pineda. Pineda is an exceptional vocalist with a different darker tone but nonetheless mimics what is required for the songs and is extremely effective. Pineda also carries with him a compelling backstory that brought a whole new fan base to Journey. In my opinion, Augeri’s vocals sound more natural for Journey songs, I find him to be the best replacement, Pineda indisputably tank 2nd. In conclusion Perry’s resonance cannot ever be matched but we have Pineda carrying the torch

What I personally like about this clip is that Steve Augeri isn't trying to be a Steve Perry rip-off like Arnel Pineda. It's nice to hear a vocalist add some originality to the song.

Less strength but still nice. The voice is soft for big concerts. N Schon's look on the face says it all. Why is the audience not too energetic lol. Still hard to sing that song but he got through.

4:05-4:22 Did Augeri use falsetto at the ending part of this song ? Unlike in another video featuring him at a concert 2003 in which he used his natural voice, not falsetto, to hit those high notes.
A true test for this song is whether or not a singer can hit the ending part which contain lyrics :
    Faithfully, I'm still yours
    I'm forever yours
    Ever yours, faithfully
Steve Perry had set the standard for this song at that ending part, that whoever tried to sing this song in the same key would struggle at that part.
I have listened all Journey vocalists who sang this song, including their drummer Deen Castronovo.
Jeff Scott Soto struggled much in that ending part. Arnel Pineda couldn't hit smoothly.
Deen Castronovo is outstanding because he beat that part while playing drum.
Of course, Steve Perry is the best.

    • @PeachWNK

Falsetto is, by no means, a make or break for any vocalist. Falsetto is what Perry sings at the end of “Mother, Father.” He doesn’t hit those notes with his head voice. Deen nails Faithfully. Perry nails it. Maybe Augeri doesn’t have the range, but that doesn’t make him less of a singer. He’s fantastic. Someone having a blah blah blah octave range means nothing really. (PS-I don’t think “natural voice” means what you think it means.)

Atleast Steve Augeri had talent for the time he was with them. I seen Arnel Perform. Arnel is actually auto tuned even that his vocal range is sloppy. Atleast this guy moved a crowd. I would rather see Steve Augeri and pay cash then to even see Arnel perform "Happy Birthday".
