- Finished the Craftsman LT1000 pulley swap Ratio is 4:3 Front has a 4 inch pulley and rear has a 3 inch pulley Originally was 3:8 its a 6 speed transmission with a 694CC 18HP Briggs & Stratton Opposed twin not the motor i wanted to have but its the best running one as of right now, the mower goes about 25mph+ in 6th gear it could be faster but im not trying to get killed on it it's just a replacement for my dirt bike that has a bad engine it can still mow grass if i put the deck on it, Also belt size is a 88 inch from Tractor Supply
I’m doing this to the same exact mower with a buddy, Ik this video was awhile ago but where’d you get a 4 inch pulley that worked and did you have to do much work to the pulley itself?
Tractor Supply and not really
Whats the fastest did that mower ho after you did that pulley swap? Also if you havent done so already consider putting a throttle pedal instead of the idle lever it would give you more control and add to the fun
@@greenmachine55 about 40 at max rpm without governor control 3600 rpm it would do 25 3" on transmission 4" on engine
@@hotrodgavin6543 im keeping the governor control cause you remove governor crontrol you risk blowing out the motor or at least shortening the life of the motor. Is 4" on the motor thats the biggest wothout having to modify the original drive set up like having to reposition the clutch etc
@greenmachine55 I had to put a very heavy spring on my clutch I bought the 4" at tractor supply cheap
did you have to weld anything when doing the pulley swap? and if so, do you know of any alternatives?
also i wanna make mine go a little faster than yours, should i go with a smaller pulley in the rear or bigger in the front
Mine had a 3" in the front and 3" in the back I didn't weld anything
What size belt ?
What size shaft is the rear
Geeeet it
Need to adjust the valves. That’s what it sounded like to me when you went to start it
It wa s a cold start, stop spreading misinformation.
@@arberfilms2302 it don’t matter if it’s a cold start or not it sounded like the valve to me a$$ hloe
The exhaust valve being off can indeed cause the compression release to not work, or a weak battery doesn't have enough power to really overcome the first crank to engage the compression release.
Parts links?
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK AS IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYONE WORKING ON MODIFYING THEIR MOWERS Bypass the safely switch by cutting white wires under the mower and the two black wires , remember the ground wire is to be connected to frame while other two black are connected and taped together
What will this do?
Got one of these on the farm, it’s got issues with power dropping off under load, it sits 😉
How do you know how to take off the back probably from one of those
Back pulley I mean
@@bobmusket2990 Yeah I toyed with the idea of rebuilding it, motor needs a rebuild decompression release is wearing out.
Hot rod Gavin what is the spring putting tension on
the brake pedal it was a little hard to press it had a lot of tension
1st. I just stopped by to check out the channel...sub'd ..I will be watching and learning.
Thank you, if you ever need any help working on a kohler engine just let me know and I'd be glad to help
@@hotrodgavin6543 I do..its a wiring issue
@@moedammit8477 What exactly is the problem?
I have the same tractor and I'm doing the same pulley swap
How fast does it go?
At 3600 rpm 25mph with governor not controlling speed it'd about 40mph
You drive so damn slow lol.
at the camera angle it does not look fast but it feels like going 80mph on a dirtbike
