    I'm torn between Road Atlanta being horrible for multiclass racing (drivers simply are not learning the patience necessary fast enough) and it being great as a tough-as-nails teacher of that patience that is not always on display. I love the racetrack for being an incredible, unique and challenging place to drive a car. It is amazing in that respect.
    Great drives by both Liddell and Foley. The RS1 Porsche was my favorite team all year, but those 2 were clearly two of the best drivers in the championship. Unfortunate stuff at the finish with some penalties not being served. Maybe something added in the IMSA rulebook about penalties to points at the beginning of next season if that is how you leave it?
    That Lone Star Racing bit at the end is beyond petty.

    Great video, would love to see more on this. I think it’s hard to tell what would happen with more laps as you can’t measure someone’s confidence until they go out and do it. Also I think irating has a lot to do with time on the service and consistency so in the real world over 20 laps you may see similar outcomes with the irating vs lap time

    I've grown to dislike Turner. So d3v!0us. They got caught cheating earlier in the season and now this with the non-contending team car 95 getting the penalty on purpose to give up points to the 96. He even looks like an unscrupulous character named Richard Fish from the old TV show Ally McBeal lol. On the other hand, I find it hilarious that the Lone Star Racing 27 parked in the pits and gave points to Turner as revenge against the 71.

      These two comments prove you guys know nothing about sports car racing.
      Turner's been in the game winning championships since the 90s and has been class acts ever since. The DQ of the 95 earlier at CTMP wasn't purposeful at all. Believe it or not technical mistakes happen when building the car for the weekend and in fact plenty of other cars have had post race technical inspection fails over the years. Porsche no.6 was sent to the back because of their skid block wear in Watkins Glenn. Does that mean they're scummy cheaters who run their cars too low? No it means they were close to the margins and made a mistake. Just like Turner did. The penalty for the 95 car can't have been planned either because it actually caused the 96 to go a lap down and frankly without it, the 96 would have probably finished ahead of the 71 anyway. Turner's a professional team who've had a great season with their great drivers. Rebel rock was unlucky with a touch of karma from lone star and the whole race end was messy, that's all there is to it. I do feel for rebel rock after a great season end but there's always a loser in racing.

      @@lemonboy3197 The racing was good but IMSA series were terrible this season as far as after race disqualifications. Lots of weird penalties during races too. What's the deal with all of the not meeting minimum refuel time penalties? Seems like this is the first season I've heard of that and it wasn't even just because of the hybrid cars and their ambiguous "energy" requirements, it was mostly GT cars. Hopefully next year the teams will be able to avoid penalties somehow. I don't care much for hybrid cars either but whatever. I have a bad feeling that there won't be full race uploads next season.

    • @lemonboy3197

      @@Dethmeister I agree that this year was quite strange in terms of penalties and post race tech infringements. It really isn't IMSA's fault though they have to enforce these penalties and you can't run a car inspection until it's done the race unfortunately. I think the teams just need to be a bit more careful next year this year's seen a sudden spike in popularity which is good but also adds a higher level of pressure and I think everyone across all series got ahead of themselves with what they could do. Hopefully next season sees them calm down while still bringing us the close fight we had this year

    So many series this year all across the world where they decide the championship winner with penalties. Don’t think I’ve ever seen this many before. Artificial drama? They taking tips from F1 2021 with the reality show hijinks lol.

      @theflagstand 10 месяцев назад +2

      In my view it is quite dumb to complain about races or championships being decided by penalties. Nobody really likes to have it that way but if it happens, it happens. You cannot leave infractions without a penalty just to preserve the result on track (which is what you would seem to prefer). Nothing artificial about enforcing rules and penalising for infractions.

    • @snakebitten6967

      @@theflagstand well, it’s quite dumb to assume what some one wants overall, with a simple complaint about the handling of penalties. It’s happening all over the world now at a rate I don’t recall seeing before. If you are fine with that, and don’t want a better way to do it than have it decided days after by stewards instead of on track, that’s your opinion and you are entitled to it.

    • @theflagstand
      @theflagstand 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@snakebitten6967 Yeah I may not have gotten the entire point of your comment, granted, but there is this narrative floating around where ppl hate on any post-race penalties just bc they alter the finishing order. I mistakenly assumed you were one of them.
      But in any case, what do you want the stewards to do if an incident happens very late in a race or demands an extensive investigation? My point is that while in some cases could have been handled better, there are still scenarios where post-race penalties are inevitable. And even if there have been more instances lately than usual, you should not read too much into it. It is not on purpose, but instead a coincidence. Especially in sportscar racing the core philosophy is not to stir up drama on purpose, but to have as fair and straightforward a race as possible.

      IMSA can't ignore that those 2 guys didn't serve their penalties. That would create some very bad ideas for other drivers. To be fair those drivers should have some kind of penalty at the beginning of next season for flaunting the rules like that.
