I'm completely blown away by the amount of high-tech equipment and manufacturing processes it takes just to make "blinking lights"!! An average person on the street won't care about what goes into producing that flashing light on a passing firetruck, but boy was I impressed! Thank you Whelen and Sirennet for showing this.
Apart from any siren company today, Whelen is my favorite siren manufacturer when it comes to electronic sirens. Especially now knowing that there products are almost 100% American made.
Thanks for to Stuart and the Sirennet gang for taking the time (and energy, and cost) to put this extensive sneak-peek behind the scenes at Whelen. Thanks also to the staff at Whelen for allowing (and, it appears, embracing) it!
To get your Take-down & Alley lights to Flash, you will need to gain access to your wiring harness (the Control Cable). The wire you will be looking for is the White/Blue. When a +12 volts is applied to the trigger wire, the take-downs and alleys will flash. When the Lights are flashing, you can use the White/Violet Scan-Lock trigger wire to change the flash patterns.
That was am AWESOME video !!!!! Learned a lot, about an AMERICAN business, (family owned), and a bit of history as well ... Very entertaining !!!!!!! "Thank You" Stuart ... :)
First I would like to say it was a great video. And also I' m from CANADA. And I think that is also great that things are still made in the USA. Way to go.
Very nice video Stuart, thanks for sharing! Just goes to show you how Whelen has their stuff together! I have the 56" Justice bar on my truck, Awesome bar!
Thats why i love Whelen products, the best build quality and attention to detail. I am in the UK and will not have anything else on my truck. Thanks to Whelen and Sirennet for the tour.
I love Whelen lights. They're the best. I own the mini justice lightbar all amber....no cons about it.. I have used others and they just don't have what Whelen has.
Do you know if it's possible to get a tour of Whelen or how I would get in contact with a rep at Whelen? My manufacturing class would like to take a trip to their Chester facility or have them come speak about what they do and their processes. My teacher said if I can get info he would look into it
Love Whelen products. The takedowns and alley lights on the Liberty are fantastic, whereas the same on the Legacy are horrible. They do not project the light out to great distances like the Liberty does. You can drive without lights on at night using the takedowns on the Liberty. A candle throws the light out farther than the takedowns and alleys on the Legacy!
I have a whelen liberty lightbar with LED take down lights, and halogen alley lights, Would anyone know how program the alley lights and takedown lights to flash?
Whelen's Cantrol System is an advanced full-vehicle integration control system for allowing sensor activation, visual triggers, thermal control and operator lighting safety control via sensor activation and deactivation with the opening and closing of Vehicle components. It also has advanced detection abilities for monitoring the Vehicle Safety System and error identification in the event that a warning/safety component fails.
I worked at Whelen in NewHamshire for 9 months. It was through a temp agency and the pcb department fired me for no reason. I was a hard worker. I busted my ass running Three machines in one night! I was always smiling and always ready to assist others. Don't trust Whelen. They lie to you! They don't care about their employees!
You'd need to look at used equipment. Unfortunately the serial communication components are no longer available for ordering from Whelen Engineering. We don't have anything around pertaining to this control-system.

Wow, did not know Whelen was 98% made in America. That is awesome.
Apart from any siren company today, Whelen is my favorite siren manufacturer when it comes to electronic sirens. Especially now knowing that there products are almost 100% American made.
Thank you Stewart and Whelen, that was AWESOME!!! I wasn't even there and I was happier than a kid in a candy store!

Hi Zach... Whelen Engineering can be reached via phone at (800) 295-3536. You'd want to talk to them directly about a Tour or Trip.
+SIRENNET thank you so much! I'll pass this on to my teacher first thing in the morning!

This is my heaven.

+Creeperboy We can assist you with the Mass Notification Systems. Please email our Sales Team: info@sirennet.com. We'll be glad to help.
Hello siren net I have a question for you what kind of camera do you use and how much money does it cost thank you
Currently we are using Canon XF100's.

Meu sonho é trabalhar nessa empresa Whelen 💙🚨
When an American company making American products with American components and materials now counts as unique instead of obvious.
That’s when we know… we f***ed up!!

I noticed that the workers are using lenses as containers. I wonder if they are using the lenses that don't pass quality control.
No sure about that. RB6 domes do make great candy bowls at Halloween :)
