Spinning in Tokyo, these are mandatory in the booth even in 2023! Keeping it 100, I'm also about to pick up a Reloop Flux for those places who have ancient equipment STILL in the booth!
getting back into DJing after about 6-8 years, always saw these, but never knew what they were called until today. i dont want to buy a new setup right now, but my Denon DN-S1200s are definitely missing some modern features I want to play with, so now im tempted to buy a pair, or even 2, so i can stick them on my decks to just get a bit more out of them until I feel comfortable enough to upgrade
I have them and I can say that they gave a second life to my turntables (timecode + Serato DVS), giving midi possibilities to such an analogical object (as a turntable) is remarkable. I take very good care of them, they are objects worthy of respect.
just bought a set off ebay this week lol (2023) I didn't get to use them back in the day but always wanted them. i think they'd still have a lot of creative uses being remapped for actual production etc. Being so small I can have them around my computer keyboard, to add some extra midi buttons
Still have my dicers. Great little devices. Being able to expand & be more creative giving new life to my turntables was just unbelievable. Still rate them.
Great Video 👍🏻 I think you should’ve added some info on how you can still use them to control other functions on DJ software just by remapping them to control other functions. They can still be very useful in conjunction with a more modern Dj mixer.
Using dicers with rekordbox is even better. You basically have a clean slate, and you can midi map them to pretty much anything. Easy to do, and VERY effective!
Here I am in 2022 trying to figure out what's a good replacement for the 'DJ Putty' because I'm wanting to stick a dicer on something and I can't find where I put the putty.
Be interested to know how they can still be used now along side some other controllers. I’ve got some and never really used them but want to incorporate them.
Thanks always for the informative vids Holland! Side note - what kind of watch you got on here? Do you/the team wear watches while playing? Always see Jamie wearing his Apple. Keep up the great work!
Great video! Still have mine. Don’t really use them but they are a piece of DJ History and I will not sell them. If I ever got a classic set of Turntables again for performing these would immediately go on them
If you spinning vinyls AND somtimes DVS this devide is the one you should have. Was thinking about buying a new Mixer dor round about 1500,- (i) just to have all this modern features in it. With the dicers you still can get a great and good quality mixer for a much lower falue AND use the DVS if needey. Just sayin‘ 😊
Can anyone tell me why the buttons are round and not square if they are called dicers? They would look much better square especially on a 1200 to match the start /stop, 33, 45. maybe they should be called Rounders. Anyway I just bought a pair because someone said they are plug and play, but it turns out i have to buy more things to get them to work.
For those interested in this topic, DJ TechTools' history video has a section at ruclips.net/video/BDM6gut1K8E/видео.html where Ean talks about his experience coming up with the Dicer.
What if us User that do not have those New mixers with them pads and are using dvs? What then? I still find use with my djm850 2 x technics m5g Phase mwm And my dicers running traktor! Dicers are still relevant! No need to dish out 3k for a New mixer that looks like a xmas tree.

Ean Golden was a legend... he gave us the S4, the MIDI fighter, and the Dicer
He still is. We have a lot of great products to thank him for!

We agree! Amazing products

Love these series, keep it up guys
Thank you we will do! :)

Just got mine in the mail today! Looking forward to trying them since I normally only play vinyl.
been through 9 sets (heavy hands)... anyone know if they will work/remap to a rare 70 on an M1 Mac?

Great to know! We are yet to try the dicer with RB!
@@Crossfader Just give me a shoutout! 😁🙏
Makes sense to get this for my Reloop RP8000MK2?
Thanks for the video. Thinking of buying them Although i have the S11 Mixer... just for the simplicity and as other midi control.

A pair of dicers is still way affordable than a DJM S9.
Very true!

I still use dicer, you describe very well. they only take up a couple of centimeters of my turntables. greetings from Mexico.

Would you think it is a good idea to use the Dicers with a pair of CDJs 350 connected to rekordbox? Hugs from Brazil
Do they work with Rekordbox DVS?
They go for pretty cheap in the used market tho so if you’re in the business of building a setup customised for your needs it’s a pretty good :)
This series is really interesting
We're glad you like it! :)
@@Crossfader Thanks :)
