Rank videos are hard because everyone has their own opinions, but I think you summed up the worst of them and some of the best. Metalhead, Mazie Day, and Ashley Too were definitely among the worst. Definitely didn't agree with the entire list -- you ranked some of my favorites pretty low, but again, to each his own.

I really enjoyed Hang the DJ. It was a simple, well-acted and emotionally resonant story that's stayed in my mind long after the credits rolled. The tech was also eerily plausible, though obviously a bit exaggerated for dramatic impact. It was sad to see it so far down on your list.
Me too! It would be in my top 5 I would say. I’m normally pretty good at guessing endings but I didn’t see this one coming at all and it made me cry and stuck with me
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Such a great show! To this day White Christmas has stuck with me the most, mainly due to the final scene where the two police officers nonchalantly crank up the loop timer to, what was it, a million years, give a little chuckle and then leave for their holiday weekend. Utterly horrifying!
Glad you enjoyed! So many good episodes. It’s rare to think that out of 28 there’s probably only three that are “meh”. And yeah, that’s such a haunting moment!
The Entire History of You is in my top 5/10 episodes instead of my favourite but it will always be special to me. It really was the episode that made me love the show and I had such a strong reaction to watching it. Even the worse episodes of the show are incredibly well executed and BM in general is truly unforgettable
Great list, I really enjoyed it. Thinking about White Christmas it strikes me how sad it was for the man who thought he had a child. Had the women uttered three simple words "it's not yours" she could have saved him an eternity of pain. She is the true villian of this episode.
My Top 10: 1. USS Callister 2. Black Museum 3. Crocodile 4. White Bear 5. Loch Henry 6. Demon 79 7. Striking Vipers 8. Hated in the Nation 9. Joan is awful 10. White Christmas … 28. Mazey Day 😂
While I wouldn’t have ordered it quite like this, I love that we appreciate the same thing about Black Mirror; the way technology can impact society in negative ways. That’s why I kind of didn’t love this new season. It felt a little weird imo AI and the pandemic should have been easy topics to tackle. Idk what that wolf shit was and tbh I didn’t like Demon 79 either lol Anyway, good list!
i thought demon 79 was good, and while it wasn't black mirror really, the show was conscious about that and called it a "red mirror" episode. but mazey day SUCKS
I don't think Mazey day is that bad especially compared to some other ones at the bottom of your list, yeah it has issues and it left a lot to be desired, I wish the run time was longer because it definitely needed it more than Loch Henry and Beyond the Sea, and they could've fleshed out the story more. Yeah the Paparazzi thing got overshadowed by the werewolf thing but it's the one episode of the season that keep coming back to my mind, because thinking about it more the whole werewolf thing it's an allegory for how the paparazzi treat celebrities like animals and people love Demon 79 (including me, its my favorite season 6 episode) so with a lot more time it could've been a great episode even with the supernatural angle. Since some episode that barely have any tech at all are really good like my favorite Shut up and dance and like national anthem. And some episode that have technology can be pretty meh or don't even focus more on the cool technology like hang the dj, or most if not all the episode of season 5.
Interesting take. I think Mazey Day belongs to the bottom not because it's not "Black mirror esque" - but the story is quite weak. It feels like things happen for the sake of happening, even though the premise is interesting with the paparazzi. In a top list like this you have to compare it with other episodes and when you compare the stories it's very lacklustre. Why did the actress need to be in Czech Republic? How did she make it back to the US? The main character doesn't really piece anything together cos her connections just lead her to the right place each time. its not awful, just compared to the others its as is.
I agree with Joan is Awful. I didn’t love it! It felt kinda cartoonish? And when I rewatched it I really didn’t like it. But the second ep of season 6 made up for it!
I had the same feeling! It felt almost “too” meta lol. It felt odd that streamberry was a large part of the plot which was essentially a parody of Netflix. Just seemed like it was supposed to be satirical and kind of critical of a large streaming platform. However, the satire and meta-commentary is kind of taken away when the company you’re making fun of or commenting on is the one funding Black Mirror. I can understand though that for some viewers that aspect might make it more interesting. Just seemed a bit corny like you said, cartoonish.
1. White Christmas 2. Black museum 3. Entire history of u 4. Uss callister 5.shut up and dance 6. Nosedive 7.15 m merits 8.playtest 9. Hang the dj. 10 be right back
Personally, my favorite true Black Mirror episode is White Bear, but my overall favorite is the only non-Black Mirror episode in all of Black Mirror, Demon 79. Holy crap was that good! I am glad I went into the episode knowing that there was no technology. Otherwise I'd have spent most the episode wondering where the hidden tech is going to jump in. I bet that soured a lot of people on this episode which is why it gets such mixed reviews.
Being that USS Callister has the most awards and 4 Emmy awards, it should definitely be higher My favorites are 1) USS Callister 2) 15 million merits 3) Beyond the Sea 4) Men Against Fire 5) Shut up and Dance I also loved Joan is Awful. I personally don’t think every episode needs to be dark and bleak.
@@bluesky5384 true, but it’s also a result of how good it is. It would still be my favorite with or without I just think for it not to even crack his top 10 is crazy lol
@@dwoods1995esults of how good it is within Hollywood institutes, sure. It absolutely is good. But I have watched many award winning movies that I thought were boring. But I agree that I can rewatch this one a million times! I can't pick my favorite. Maybe Nosedive.
I go back and watch "Hated in the Nation" fairly regularly. It feels so different from most other episodes cause of it's pacing, it's by far the longest episode and is constantly adding new elements to the story. It feels like a movie. I also loved Fifteen Million Merits, it was the first episode I saw and is still the most memorable.
Same. I'd put Hang the DJ near the top 5. That, Crocodile and The Waldo Moment could all move up 5 or 10 places. Nosedive, Hated in the Nation and Smithereens could move the same amount. Then it would be close to my thoughts.
@@greatapegino i liked the concept. Just didn't think it was a particularly well written episode and didn't take the idea to the most interesting places.
I always rank "Shut Up And Dance" high because that was the episode that got me fully into Black Mirror and I had to go back and watch the other episodes. It made me realise that when you watch Black Mirror the people you follow are misleading you and they're usually the villains in the end. Speaking of misleading you and being the villain in the end "Beyond The Sea" is probably my favorite. Aaron Paul did wonderful.
I actually watched Striking Vipers first, because when you click on it for the first time it brings up the most recent season's first episode, and at the time season 5 was still young. I actually loved the episode and immediately realized it was the wrong season so I went back and binged it. Even though it is not my favorite and I know it is not the greatest episode, it is still one I can revisit and enjoy.
agree. it’s one of my very favorites and i still get giddy waiting for the ending. rewatching it is a joy. i make my friends watch that episode with me so i can relive the naïveté of not knowing what happens. a very realistic story, makes you feel insanely fooled. the climax is insane, the music they use and the lighting is crazy.
What I like about this show is that I'm never, ever able to predict how it'll go. Like in Beyond the Sea, I thought the other guy was going to kill Aaron Paul's character, maybe by leaving him outside the capsule, and also lie to the wife, trying to pass himself off as her husband. But she catches on when she hears him humming one of the records he liked to play.
It’s strange that out of all the episodes, you note Beyond the Sea as particularly unpredictable. As soon as Josh Hartnett’s character had his family murdered, and it kept switching between showing us his family and Aaron Paul’s charcater’s family, I knew where it was going. Which is why I supposed I don’t really like it. It just felt unrewarding when I had to watch a plot unfold for 90 minutes that I had guessed in the first 10. Plus there are logistical inadequacies and plot holes in there that kind of ruin the immersion for me.
The Entire History of You, Be Right Back, and San Junipero really stand out to me because they were not just about technology, but about relationships between normal people.
I felt all these episodes were overrated. My favorite episodes were 1. USS Callister 2. Black Museum 3. White Christmas 4. Shut Up and Dance 5. White Bear Edit: it seems like you’re a fan of the more personal small scale episodes, where I lean more towards the massive stakes large scale episodes
Playtest is my absolute favorite because of the the many plottwists. It got to a moment which I got actually scared and was so unsure of the reality of the show, and then when I was sure, they cracked it again. Also the kind of mystery going on between the character and his parents are really engaging even tho it wasn't fully elaborated which makes it even cooler to me (I also like some horror)
It might not be my favorite episode ( Def a top 10 maybe top 5), but the ending is still my favorite ending. The fact that he died within 0.04 sec. before he even got to the mole game is crazy. Also, when you are about to die, your neurons do all fire in rapid succession and can simulate hallucinations and false sensory observations like the ones he had. So that just adds to the whole thing. I don't think he had those experiences because of the machine, I think that was his neurons all firing in hundreds of a second and him hallucinating it all. Still terrifying. The brain is a crazy thing.
Honestly, it was a good episode, but it would be much better if the main character wasn’t so annoying. Dude literally wouldn’t shut up. I just watched this episode today
I go back and watch White Christmas all the time the story was well constructed and it all paid off to an amazing ending. That episode along with The Entire history of you are the two episodes I recommend to other people to watch no matter what. They do the best at mixing the technology with the story and imo have to best endings in all of Blackmirror. Overall good list I definitely have a different list then yours 3-28 but you got the two most important ones at the top.
I liked “Shut Up and Dance” because of how they try to make you think one thing and the twist changes the whole story where he turns out to be a pedophile. Beyond the Sea is my next episode that I’m going to recommend everyone to watch. I just love when they make you think he was going to lock him outside of the ship to die and secretly take over his body only to have a completely unexpected twist at the end that gives me chicken skin while the credits roll.
I think it was obvious David wouldn't let Cliff die because Cliff himself told his wife they needed eachother because their mission was designed for 2 earlier in the episode, otherwise David could've just stabbed him while he was laying on that bed. I think It would've been darker if they landed on a planet with enough resources to live but instead of doing research and going back to earth, David killed Cliff and started pretending he was him on earth or if Cliff's wife simply accepted the fact that David was dead and didn't care because she fell in love with David. There was no reason for David to go back so he could just wake up to eat and go back lol.
Yeah, it was pretty damn obvious that he was going to kill the family. My ‘fix’ would have been to show a scene after the final one, where the two of them, while still loathing one another, are mutually cooperating to work the ship and have an agreed roster to use the body, because there’s no other choice other than mutual destruction.
I just wanted to thank you for mentioning the supporting cast of “Beyond the Sea”. They all did amazing jobs, and tend to be overlooked by Aaron and Josh’s performances.
I loved Stiking Vipers cause it was so damn weird and had you feeling awkward the whole time. I would rank that episode top 3. Its funny how differently people like different episodes.
My favorite thing about Playtest is that in a rewatch, if you are wearing headphones, you can hear a phone vibrating incorporated into the music. Sonething youd never take note of the first time, but something ultimately gutwrenching when you finally notice. I remember thinking my phone was vibrating the whole time he was in the game.
i think smithereens is one of the best by far, because of how much i and many of us can relate to the characters views, the concept is already much of a reality and i cant help but empathise with the main character as i strongly agree with him
The one pattern about season 6 that I noticed is that it entirely steers clear of its traditional, prophetic dystopian slant on the abuse of technology in the future. Almost every episode goes back in time and/or has completely abandoned the dystopian sci-if element in favor of more fantasy/supernatural type themes. Like a lot of Black Mirrors previous seasons focusing on dystopian sci-fi creative predictions have almost caught up to where we are today, obviously not literally but in concept and direction we’re not to far from some dystopian milestones. Most of the episodes were good for what they were and I accept that a show doesn’t have to be what I expect exactly. But admittedly, I would’ve been more interested to see episodes set in 2060 challenging Elon Musk’s theory about the singularity. I mean transhumanism with tech is literally being discussed right now. What would that look like in the next decades? Joan is awful is probably the closest to discussing a near future and even this episode confines itself to Netflix making itself the butt of anything antagonistic…Not to be all conspiracy theorist, but as I was going through each episode and noticing how almost all were set in the past..it did almost seem like the traditional approach Black Mirror always took was sort of avoided and abandoned altogether as not to offend tech companies or at least portray them in a bad light to the public as they are literally inventing things at a rate right now that might take us to a dystopian future…idk, it’s a stretch of thinking for sure. But just am sharing this comment because nobody’s discussed this angle yet and maybe others took notice?
That's why it fell flat for me. The premises were mostly good and there, but the time period switches and supernatural elements just took away all the realism.
@@JNB0723Yh same I enjoyed loch henry,Beyond the sea and demon 79 each very good but it didn’t feel like a block mirror episode other than maybe beyond the sea but loch henry felt like a movie instead I don’t mind that too much but I wish they would add some more technology dystopia next season aswell as these
Nosedive is my absolute favorite episode in this entire series so I was secretly hoping for it to be at least top 5 and you can guess how happy I was to see it at #3 for you!
The ending to Beyond the Sea was surreal. I quite literally was left speechless, jaw dropped, staring at my black mirror while the credits scrolled. Brilliant ending from such an incredible show. Loved the video!!
Episodes like Mazey day can be good... only if they're not bearing the "Black Mirror" title. Like if I want that kine of episodes I'll be watching Stranger Things or something...
my personal ranking for season 6 episodes alone is: 5)mazey day 4)joan is awful 3)demon 79 2)loch henry 1)beyond the sea. Overall this season was like a 7-8/10 in my opinion.
The season was doing so well before the last two episodes too :/. I wonder why they went the supernatural route. I was flabbergasted in that episode cause wtf was that lmfaoooo.
I think this show has slowly turned into the most important TV Series of our generation. Seriously you can get so much conversation and discussion out of each of the episodes. I was at the basketball court today and overheard someone saying that they needed to get home to finish the rest of season 6. Damn Good Television.
Welp, can't argue about taste, but saying beyond the sea was more enjoyable than Hated in the Nation, wow...Reaaaaaally can't see that. IMHO Hated in the Nation is extremely underrated. One of the best BM episodes for me, one of the few that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Beyond the Sea? Meh. It was nice to see Aaron Paul, but 1h20 was waaaay to much for that story. Also love Hang the DJ. Such a wholesome episode. Lastly, IDK why people like the Entire History of You so much. I couldn't care less about the main character and his obsession with rewatching everything everytime and I found really funny when he discovered his wife cheating through this. It felt earned. Dude was so paranoid that finally the paranoia "paid" him in someway. But there was no one to cheer for, almost everyone was idiot and dumb. Thinking about the purpose of the episode I found Nosedive way more entertaining while conveying a really similar message.
1. White Christmas 2. White Bear 3. Shut up and Dance 4. Black Museum 5. USS Callister I think some of the worst to me are The Waldo Moment, Metalhead, Rachel Jack and Ashley Too, and Mazey Day I think the rest of the episodes are pretty good. One of my dark horse favorites is Crocodile
@@zekeedwards7904Demon 79 was my favourite episode, beyond the sea just annoyed me tbh. The acting was sublime but the story was just stupid imo, it took me out of the whole thing when he killed Cliffs family. Thats unrealistic as fuck.
@@lukecheshire7782 so a story about a demon manifesting as a 70s disco dude is not stupid lol, look man it's all subjective if everyone agreed on everything, life would be pretty dull, I enjoy the tech side and dystopia in black mirror, that's what got me hooked, not supernatural comedy
To be honest with you I disagree with you on striking vipers. I think the ending was actually a good ending. A loving couple making a compromise. I didn’t find it dark, on the contrary, I found it quite mature.
Idk if bandersnatch could be considered a BM episode but its one of my favorites. Back when I watched it I was really into interactive video games(Detroit become human, until dawn, life is strange etc) and bandersnatch surpassed all those without even being a game.
Thank you! It’s a long episode but every moment adds something to the plot and it has the perfect ending. It gets better on every rewatch and I think it’s criminally underrated.
Definitely agree with the bottom half of the list, especially the bottom 5. Mazey day felt so... off. BM doesn't have to be technology focused but the felt too on the rails. Although I think the one with the nano bees should be down there too. Edit: The Entire History of You is my favourite story next to White Christmas. It's so powerful and re watchable. Its so raw, personal and real - this is something I think lacks in other episodes
I personally loved Mazey Day. The werewolf twist was just out of left fuckin field. I didn’t know what to expect but I was still not expecting that. Beyond the sea DEFINITELY one of their best episodes. The way they were making it seem, I thought 1 of 2 things was going to happen. Either that the wife was going to end up living Josh Hartnett more or that Josh was going to kill Aaron but then pass off as if he was him fooling his wife. But murdering his family??????? HOLY SHIT I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!
San Juniero is very dark. It's not YOUR mind thats uploaded there. It is only a copy. Basically you did die. All of you died even your mind. But the picture they copied remained.
I get that your list is subjective, but come on man. Hang the DJ is literally the SECOND highest ranked episode on IMDb (which means the mean of thousands of people collectively decided that). Calling it forgettable was also a bit of a stretch because it received and still receives lots of media attention, especially on youtube.
So happy that someone agrees with me as entire history of you as the best, white Christmas also 2nd for me, what did surprise me about this list is hang the DJ and loch Henry being so far down but this is such a hard list to make because there are so many good ones I appreciate your efforts
Season 6 fell kinda flat for me. I like the atmosphere and despair from Loch Henry and pretty much everything from Beyond the Sea but the other 3 episodes didn't do it for me.
Joan is Awful was awful. Should be 2nd from bottom with only Mazey Day below it. That last demon episode was really crap too. It started going downhill after moving to Netflix.
I love Annie Murphy to death. Her acting was sublime, but the directing and writing didn't bring enough of the introspection with the simulated reality twist at the end. We only saw it with Annie Murphy's acting when Level 1 Joan realized that the real Joan was already going to break the Quamputer anyway. They wasted an opportunity to portray an existential horror that would've been more reminiscent of peak Black Mirror episodes.
I’m still confused on this one. I thought the program was meant to simulate each person’s life then where did the multiple levels come in with real actors that don’t know they’re acting? I’m a little lost
@@sunflowerlove60part of the plot of the Joan is Awful show is that she finds out her life is being turned into a show (when she sees Salma Hayek) The idea is that the whole episode we watched is just the “Joan Is Awful” Streamberry show about the real life Joan
Great rankings! I especially agree with the bottom 3. And ty for ranking White Bear so high. That’s my fav episode and it’s the one that got me onto the show because my dad was explaining the plot and I thought it sounded cool af so I watched and the rest is history.
While I do agree on a lot of them, there are some that I would put higher on my rankings, like Striking Vipers, USS Callister and Hang the DJ. All three are in top 10 on my list
I agree! Felt like commentary on more modern technology which was interesting to see. Parents these days can track their children’s phones and put cameras in their children’s rooms. Of course modern tech like that can be helpful but I love that Arkangel follows the story of what overprotective & controlling parents can do with this kind of technology.
@@BrainPiloti mean you should also refer to rotten tomatoes. its fairly credible and is used to rank many shows / movies. also consider the episodes which have won emmies. i know you put nosedive in number 3 but the fact is that it won an emmy award. also uss callister is quite low especially since it won like 4 or 5 emmys. there was also san junipero which won 2. its important to use public opinion in some aspects as well cause i dont think theres anyone whos ever said the entire history of you was the best black mirror episode. its underrated but definitely not the best. ive heard popular opinions like nosedive being the best, san junipero or black museum. white christmas is good but i dont see a lot of people ranking it as number 1. i think number 2 is also a bit high. hang the dj ive seen countless of times be in peoples top 10 or 5 episodes. its that good. it really shows how dystopian the episode feels and how we know their relationship is going to be abrupt. also the number 4 is the most prominent number in the whole episode. amy can only skim rocks 4 times including the device she used to skim along the water. the amount of easter eggs linked towards 4 when you watch it a 2nd time is really shown. its also represented in the episode position. in season 4. in episode 4. and 4 also can represent 'death' in asian culture which you may think doesnt correlate with the topic but it kinda does. it represents the death in their relationship, the death in their innerselves. they want to end up together but they know they cant due to the system. its a very interesting episode with many hidden details. also i feel like you shouldnt consistently base episodes off of time length. yes it may be a factor but it isnt important. the famous saying "quality over quantity". nobody wants to watch a 2h episode of straight up nonsense and non plot related stuff. people would rather watch an episode that can relate to us. something that actually informs us about something. also the entire history of you does not seem like something that will happen in the near future. its impractical. why do we need a built in system that records our lives. theres so many other global issues its too much money to invest in just for a memory capturing built in software which we can just use our phones instead. speaking of phones, smithereens was an episode you ranked in the mid - high regions. some people enjoyed it, most people found it mid or boring. im with the mid - low / boring people. it has incredible acting (supported by the emmy award) yet the problem arises by the actual message. the main factors of black mirror to target an audience is to: 1. implement / predict a new technology or talk about a present day technological device 2. how can us humans use it in a wrong way? 3. if so, what are the issues that are created and are the issues created extremely harmful to society? 4. what do we learn / how do we prevent this? nosedive is a perfect example which would tick these 4 factors. in comparison to well smithereens. it does implement a present day device and thats where it downfalls. it doesnt show the dangers of using a phone. the protagonist simply just said that we're addicted to our phones and well. its extremely exaggerated. thats the problem though, the insane exaggeration sets down the plot and just makes the protagonist look more of an insane person. it doesnt really show the issues that are created and we certainly dont learn anything. for prevention theres nothing really much i mean it doesnt really matter theres not much of a difference in preventing this. sorry for the rant just had to get if off my chest and please if you create another ranking of basically any mainstream show / media then please dont be subjective and see the public opinion cause i highly disagree with the entire history of you being the so called 'best episode' if it doesnt really give an extreme impact towards society in comparison to nosedive. you could also argue san junipero doesnt fit but it sorta does since kelly doesnt fulfill her promise with her husband. the ending is romanticised a lot due to the joyful music playing but its kind of dark, separating the afterlife into this virtual world i mean its not a huge problem but there are some issues in comparison to just "ur on ur phone too much" anyways thats my rant thanks for reading if u see
I really liked loch henry. i know some people like that true crime stuff, but as someone (and mean this not to be cringe or like "that" person yk) who was rlly bothered by stuff in Dahmer, i was rlly hoping an episode would address that stuff about true crime TT Also Edit: unpopular opinion, but i actually kinda liked Mazey day 😅 i know the reason why people didnt like it but i was thoroughly entertained lmao
I always judge the quality of a persons BM opinion is if they rhink San Junipero is a good episode. If they do, their opinion is meaningless. Sorry. Youre right about Michael Smilie though, hes always incredible
1. 15 Million Merits 2. San Junipero 3. Be Right Back 4. White Christmas 5. White Bear 6. Hated in the Nation 7. Nosedive 8. Playtest 9. Beyond the Sea 10. Hang the DJ Also, I made this list before watching the top 10. Nice 🤘
I always get surprised that you didlike the waldo moment. I feel it really nailed the feeling of contempt and cyniscism towards politics. Trump, Boris and Balsenaro all came after this episode, candidates who seemed silly but with a dangerous underlying message.
I don’t watch Black Mirror for twists - there’s episodes people love without a shocking twist (Nosedive, San Junipero, USS Calistar) so while there was some predictability, I don’t think an episode should get deducted points for that.
Hell, I knew the moment his family got GOT! I definitely predicted that ending as well. Everybody says Loch Henry was predictable but Beyond The Sea was predictable for me.
Men Against Fire and Smithereens are too low IMO, top 10 for sure. I would also put Crocodile and Hang The DJ above any episode from season 6. The Entire History of You lower in my list and Shut Up and Dance outside of the top 10.
I absolutely hated Demon 79 and Mazey Day. Supernatural elements should not belong to Black Mirror universe. Black Mirror is about a technological dystopia. Werewolves and demons have no place in it. Beyond the Sea was the best episode for me followed by Joan is awful. Loch Henry was an amazing episode but its just your usual thriller and it didn't feel like a Black Mirror episode.
Hang the Dj is amazing. Her sitting on the bed watching many go by and him stuck in something awful as he watched the time almost made me cry because I’ve been in both positions. Their chemistry was amazing and the twist was awesome. Idk if you haven’t dated a lot or something but this episode literally catches every angle of dating so perfectly.

Just realized that the mom from Loch Henry was the police chief from Smithereens
Good spot!
I just watched white christmas and it blew me away, existential dread showed perfectly on a TV screen
Hang the dj being 24th is cray

It really was the episode that made me love the show and I had such a strong reaction to watching it. Even the worse episodes of the show are incredibly well executed and BM in general is truly unforgettable
metalhead being as high as it is, above episodes like crocodile and hang the dj, was all i needed to know about the list
Great list, I really enjoyed it. Thinking about White Christmas it strikes me how sad it was for the man who thought he had a child. Had the women uttered three simple words "it's not yours" she could have saved him an eternity of pain. She is the true villian of this episode.
Glad you enjoyed the ranking!

1. White Christmas
2. Black museum
3. Entire history of u
4. Uss callister
5.shut up and dance
6. Nosedive
7.15 m merits
8.playtest
9. Hang the dj.

Hang the DJ was one of my favorites!
Also Black museum was AMAZING
Okay HOW IS USS CALLISTER NOT HIGHER
Haha, safe to say we share different opinions on this ranking lol
I'm good with almost all your rankings but Hang the DJ should be higher. Very underrated.
That's fair!
Being that USS Callister has the most awards and 4 Emmy awards, it should definitely be higher
My favorites are
1) USS Callister
2) 15 million merits
3) Beyond the Sea
4) Men Against Fire
5) Shut up and Dance
I also loved Joan is Awful. I personally don’t think every episode needs to be dark and bleak.
Awards shouldn't drive personal opinions. It's in my top 5 though!
@@bluesky5384 true, but it’s also a result of how good it is. It would still be my favorite with or without

@@dwoods1995esults of how good it is within Hollywood institutes, sure. It absolutely is good. But I have watched many award winning movies that I thought were boring. But I agree that I can rewatch this one a million times! I can't pick my favorite. Maybe Nosedive.
@@bluesky5384 true true i definitely understand that perspective
I was finished with this video after seeing Striking Vipers at 25
Hang the dj should be higher in my opinion but nice list
Thanks!
Yeah totally agree about Hated in The Nation. That's my biggest issue with it. It is so slow when compared to the others.
Same here. I've watched Hated in the Nation several times
And that's one where I think they pretty much undeniably nailed human nature. If that technology came out tomorrow, that episode would start tomorrow
nah having hang the dj that low is a violation, i loved that episode, one of the few episodes that actually have a feel good ending
Totally agree, I loved that episode! Easily in my top 10.
Same. I'd put Hang the DJ near the top 5. That, Crocodile and The Waldo Moment could all move up 5 or 10 places.
Nosedive, Hated in the Nation and Smithereens could move the same amount.
Then it would be close to my thoughts.
@@jameslfc11 such a feel good episode tbh
@@kevtb874 Nosedive is up there too, really is a accurate reflection of todays society.
I do the same with white bear
@@lascosasporsunombre8991 that one too! i think i watched that next and was crushed
@@airbornemelody6156 that's actually a good idea! I hope they were terrified like we were
What I like about this show is that I'm never, ever able to predict how it'll go. Like in Beyond the Sea, I thought the other guy was going to kill Aaron Paul's character, maybe by leaving him outside the capsule, and also lie to the wife, trying to pass himself off as her husband. But she catches on when she hears him humming one of the records he liked to play.
As for me, I caught the twist early on. So it wasn't quite as shocking to me. I like Joan is Awful and Loch Henry more because of their pacing.
I mean the ship can’t operate if one is gone so I kinda knew it was going to lead to that but it was still crazy what happened
Plus there are logistical inadequacies and plot holes in there that kind of ruin the immersion for me.
i also thought thats what the twist would be
@@Luke-eo8djDavid had nothing to lose. Sooo it really wouldn't have matter he would've died over there after killing Cliff
The Entire History of You, Be Right Back, and San Junipero really stand out to me because they were not just about technology, but about relationships between normal people.
Couldn't agree more! Another personal, emotional layer to the plots!
San Junípero has a timing developing the story that is amazing
I felt all these episodes were overrated.
My favorite episodes were
1. USS Callister
2. Black Museum
3. White Christmas
4. Shut Up and Dance
5. White Bear

I just watched this episode today
i just love the guy who‘s the protagonist in that one. seems like such a good dude who i‘d love to have a beer with
Hang the DJ is one of my favorite black mirror episodes, pretty surprised that it is ranked so low.
Yeah I didn't realise that it was so well received!
hang the DJ is one of my favourite episodes, even if it doesn't really fit black mirror due to the happy ending
That's a fair choice!
I think that's the reason they placed this episode right after one of the darkest episodes "Crocodile"
Every single cast member brought something to the performance. Even Henry and his slightly absent but observant nature!
One of the best episodes :)
I loved Stiking Vipers cause it was so damn weird and had you feeling awkward the whole time. I would rank that episode top 3. Its funny how differently people like different episodes.
That's totally fair!
I hated striking vipers
White Christmas, USS Callister, and Striking Vipers are top 3 for me, and perhaps the only episodes I truly liked a lot.
I really feel like arkangel doesn’t get enough love. I found it very powerful as someone who’s a mother now and was also once a teenage girl.
True, it is a good episode!
I’ll forever love be right back, san junipero, white christmas, nosedive & crocodile the most because they feel the most character-driven which i love
My favourites are Black Museum and White Bear. I did like Loch Henry but i predicted the mums involvement straight away
That's a really cool thought!
i think smithereens is one of the best by far, because of how much i and many of us can relate to the characters views, the concept is already much of a reality and i cant help but empathise with the main character as i strongly agree with him
The one pattern about season 6 that I noticed is that it entirely steers clear of its traditional, prophetic dystopian slant on the abuse of technology in the future.
That was such a good one. Her breakdown at the end was so well acted and you really truly felt her hopeless desperation to your core
The ending to Beyond the Sea was surreal. I quite literally was left speechless, jaw dropped, staring at my black mirror while the credits scrolled. Brilliant ending from such an incredible show. Loved the video!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video!
Really? It felt incredibly predictable.
Episodes like Mazey day can be good... only if they're not bearing the "Black Mirror" title. Like if I want that kine of episodes I'll be watching Stranger Things or something...
I though that I was watching teen wolf instead of black mirror 😂
it was more twightlight zone or inside no 9 than black mirror
my personal ranking for season 6 episodes alone is: 5)mazey day 4)joan is awful 3)demon 79 2)loch henry 1)beyond the sea. Overall this season was like a 7-8/10 in my opinion.

Totally agree!!!
Mazey day pulled down the quality of the season so much more lower - like a clear outlier. Agree with the list too
The season was doing so well before the last two episodes too :/. I wonder why they went the supernatural route. I was flabbergasted in that episode cause wtf was that lmfaoooo.
Hang the DJ is one of the best episodes I. The show wdym??
I think this show has slowly turned into the most important TV Series of our generation. Seriously you can get so much conversation and discussion out of each of the episodes. I was at the basketball court today and overheard someone saying that they needed to get home to finish the rest of season 6. Damn Good Television.
It’s very ‘McDonald’s’ philo sci-fi a lot of the time imo. Tech bad, titillate you with that concept, repeat the process, that’s the show.
I'm a simple man. I see Hang the DJ on the bottom, I understand this video ain't good
Mazey day being last is the reason I liked lol 😂

Also love Hang the DJ. Such a wholesome episode.
Lastly, IDK why people like the Entire History of You so much. I couldn't care less about the main character and his obsession with rewatching everything everytime and I found really funny when he discovered his wife cheating through this. It felt earned. Dude was so paranoid that finally the paranoia "paid" him in someway. But there was no one to cheer for, almost everyone was idiot and dumb.

@@BrainPiloti mean you should also refer to rotten tomatoes. its fairly credible and is used to rank many shows / movies. also consider the episodes which have won emmies. i know you put nosedive in number 3 but the fact is that it won an emmy award. also uss callister is quite low especially since it won like 4 or 5 emmys. there was also san junipero which won 2. its important to use public opinion in some aspects as well cause i dont think theres anyone whos ever said the entire history of you was the best black mirror episode. its underrated but definitely not the best. ive heard popular opinions like nosedive being the best, san junipero or black museum. white christmas is good but i dont see a lot of people ranking it as number 1. i think number 2 is also a bit high. hang the dj ive seen countless of times be in peoples top 10 or 5 episodes. its that good. it really shows how dystopian the episode feels and how we know their relationship is going to be abrupt. also the number 4 is the most prominent number in the whole episode. amy can only skim rocks 4 times including the device she used to skim along the water. the amount of easter eggs linked towards 4 when you watch it a 2nd time is really shown. its also represented in the episode position. in season 4. in episode 4. and 4 also can represent 'death' in asian culture which you may think doesnt correlate with the topic but it kinda does. it represents the death in their relationship, the death in their innerselves. they want to end up together but they know they cant due to the system. its a very interesting episode with many hidden details. also i feel like you shouldnt consistently base episodes off of time length. yes it may be a factor but it isnt important. the famous saying "quality over quantity". nobody wants to watch a 2h episode of straight up nonsense and non plot related stuff. people would rather watch an episode that can relate to us. something that actually informs us about something. also the entire history of you does not seem like something that will happen in the near future. its impractical. why do we need a built in system that records our lives. theres so many other global issues its too much money to invest in just for a memory capturing built in software which we can just use our phones instead. speaking of phones, smithereens was an episode you ranked in the mid - high regions. some people enjoyed it, most people found it mid or boring. im with the mid - low / boring people. it has incredible acting (supported by the emmy award) yet the problem arises by the actual message. the main factors of black mirror to target an audience is to:
1. implement / predict a new technology or talk about a present day technological device
2. how can us humans use it in a wrong way?
3. if so, what are the issues that are created and are the issues created extremely harmful to society?
4. what do we learn / how do we prevent this?
nosedive is a perfect example which would tick these 4 factors.
in comparison to well smithereens. it does implement a present day device and thats where it downfalls. it doesnt show the dangers of using a phone. the protagonist simply just said that we're addicted to our phones and well. its extremely exaggerated. thats the problem though, the insane exaggeration sets down the plot and just makes the protagonist look more of an insane person.
it doesnt really show the issues that are created
and we certainly dont learn anything. for prevention theres nothing really much i mean it doesnt really matter theres not much of a difference in preventing this.
sorry for the rant just had to get if off my chest and please if you create another ranking of basically any mainstream show / media then please dont be subjective and see the public opinion cause i highly disagree with the entire history of you being the so called 'best episode' if it doesnt really give an extreme impact towards society in comparison to nosedive.
you could also argue san junipero doesnt fit but it sorta does since kelly doesnt fulfill her promise with her husband. the ending is romanticised a lot due to the joyful music playing but its kind of dark, separating the afterlife into this virtual world i mean its not a huge problem but there are some issues in comparison to just "ur on ur phone too much"
anyways thats my rant thanks for reading if u see
I have only watched 5, but decided its one of my favourites. San Junipero, 15 million credits and Demon 79 are all fantastic.
Salma Hayek‘s dialogues in Joan is awful are pure cringe.
I really liked loch henry. i know some people like that true crime stuff, but as someone (and mean this not to be cringe or like "that" person yk) who was rlly bothered by stuff in Dahmer, i was rlly hoping an episode would address that stuff about true crime TT
Also Edit: unpopular opinion, but i actually kinda liked Mazey day 😅 i know the reason why people didnt like it but i was thoroughly entertained lmao
Bold statement in being on the side of Mazey Day lol. I'm joking, that's what's great about the show - everyone can enjoy the different episodes!
I'm obsessed with beyond the sea. So good.
Interesting, I liked the concept but was underwhelmed.
@@TeChNoWC7 I liked it but forgot about it immediately haha
@@TeChNoWC7very overwhelming. I didn’t like the end at all. But it was pretty good.
Thanks for this video, it was fun seeing which episodes you genuinely enjoyed, and which you found just passable.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I always judge the quality of a persons BM opinion is if they rhink San Junipero is a good episode. If they do, their opinion is meaningless. Sorry.
Youre right about Michael Smilie though, hes always incredible
1. 15 Million Merits
2. San Junipero
3. Be Right Back
4. White Christmas
5. White Bear
6. Hated in the Nation
7. Nosedive
8. Playtest
9. Beyond the Sea
10. Hang the DJ
Also, I made this list before watching the top 10. Nice 🤘
Solid top ten!
I always get surprised that you didlike the waldo moment. I feel it really nailed the feeling of contempt and cyniscism towards politics. Trump, Boris and Balsenaro all came after this episode, candidates who seemed silly but with a dangerous underlying message.
I really liked “beyond the sea” but I knew the ending halfway through the episode! I wasn’t shocked
I was shocked, I thought he'd kill the man and take over his family.
Yeah that's what I thought too!
I don’t watch Black Mirror for twists - there’s episodes people love without a shocking twist (Nosedive, San Junipero, USS Calistar) so while there was some predictability, I don’t think an episode should get deducted points for that.
Yeah, was extremely predictable unfortunately
Hell, I knew the moment his family got GOT! I definitely predicted that ending as well. Everybody says Loch Henry was predictable but Beyond The Sea was predictable for me.
White Christmas is my personal favourite
hang the dj being "forgettable" is crazy bro 💀
White Christmas is my favorite.
It's such a good one! Good choice!
Joan shoulda been at least top 10.
Men Against Fire and Smithereens are too low IMO, top 10 for sure. I would also put Crocodile and Hang The DJ above any episode from season 6. The Entire History of You lower in my list and Shut Up and Dance outside of the top 10.
Totally fair! The beauty of this show is summed up in this comment. The fact we all see different things in each episode! No other show like it 😃
I feel like I'm the only person thay didnt like Joan is Awful.
No, i'd say the longer that I thought about it the further down the ranking it went. Probably number 4/5 for me
For me the best was 'White Christmas' and the worst was 'Joan is awful'.
That’s fair enough!
Beyond the sea is wild asf
The best inclusion of the brand new episodes!
