Thanks for tuning in! Dive into this 2024 true stereo remix with a focus on the captivating vocals. In 'You Really Got A Hold On Me,' recorded in 1963 for 'With The Beatles,' John Lennon delivers one of his most compelling vocal performances. With this remix, I've meticulously separated each of the voices, placing John front and center, George to the right, and Paul to the left. This approach adds a new dimension to the recording, accentuating one of The Beatles' finest vocal showcases. While Giles Martin's official remix in the 2023 'Red and Blue' albums was one of the better, I felt the vocals deserved further attention. Thus, my aim was to enhance the enjoyment of this remarkable Smokey Robinson song beyond Martin's remix.
Accompanying the remix is a video paying homage to the U.S. debut of the song on Capitol's 1964 release, 'The Beatles' Second Album.' Some argue that this compilation stands as The Beatles' premier Rock n' Roll album, a sentiment I wholeheartedly share!
It's important to note that this remix steers clear of any artificial acoustics or additional elements not present in the original recording. It's a faithful isolation and remixing of the vocals, reminiscent of the stereo techniques prevalent in 1960s recordings.
Wonderful song and beatles were great.
That's exactly how the song should sound. Good work.
Thank you and thanks for listening!
Ditto.
Their impeccable musicianship and harmonies after years of performances in Hamburg Germany cannot be overstated and that is why their sounds can be individualized. BRAVO!
Thank you! I agree with your comment. Thanks so much for listening!
You're right. This is a song they would have played dozens of times and so when they recorded it in 1963, they knew it inside out. And this is pretty much how they would have sounded in Germany and The Cavern. Raw but so so polished and tight.
Smokey must have felt honoured by this terrific version of his great hit song with The Miracles. John delivers with emotion and feeling and the backing vocals from the boys are just as perfect as they should be. To me it´s the rocker version of this outstanding ballad.
Ive seen Smokey talking about it and yes indeed, he felt honoured. In return he later recorded "Yesterday".
I'm always happy about a new upload from you
please remix more Beatles titles😊
Thank you! I'm glad it makes you happy! I'll continue if it's within by ability. Thanks so much for listening and commenting!
separating the vocals is brilliant. especially being able to hear what a beautiful voice John had/has.
Thank you! I'm glad you appreciate the vocal separation. It's a very meticulous and time consuming process. Some think it's done by AI but they're wrong. It's done by human hand and human ear. Thanks so much for listening!
Another brilliant remix. Love your approach, style and artistry in bringing these recordings to life.
Thank you very much! I'm very grateful that your listening! Thanks for the comment!
This has always been an underrated Beatles song.
The early recordings they did in '63 and '64 were some of the best.....just those wonderful harmonies were amazing...John's voice is fantastic and this is one of my favorite covers they did....excellent remix....Thank You !!!
It's really my pleasure. Thank you!
Damn, I don't know how many covers done by the Beatles that I love more than the original versions. Whenever they did a cover, they made sure that it was very special.
Really Great Voice of John ❤❤
John great singer
Always thought this was emotionally better than the original.
When the boys done a cover version my god they put their heart and soul into it ...... This is one of my favourites
You've really got a hold on the remix thing. Bravo.
Thank you, it's my pleasure! Thanks for the comment and listening!
@britt2001b fantastic, thank you!
By separating the the vocals their harmonies really shine. Sooo beautiful. Especially on the 4 “ hold me’s’.
Thank you!
an oldie but goodie, Love JOhn's voice here. His voice was richer in the beginning. a superbly emotional voice, one of the best rock and roll voices plus his songwriting and wit. Miss him terribly. What would John have to say about the current world's situation and music?
Paul's bass is so legit in this mix, nice.
Thanks!
This is one of The Beatles best songs
Always liked it. It Swings..
Great amazing vocals yes indeed! Thanks so much!
Thank you, glad you're listening!

Thanks for uploading this splendid version. As so often happens, Lennon takes a great original song and makes it his own (ably assisted by George and the others). Outstanding, no contest!
My pleasure, thanks for listening!
They were bloody great ❤️
Fabulous Fourulous Foreveruous!
fantastic work thanks you
My pleasure, thank you!
BRAVO!
As a 60s baby I'm loving what you have produced and shared with us here. I used to watch the Beatles cartoons and if I'm remembering correctly this one was about a boa chasing Ringo around and wrapping itself around him. Thanks for the memories. 🪱👌 JC
I remember that episode! Thank you!
This song was "made" for John Lennon's vocals! I like their rendition of this moreso than the original.
Of course
Hola a todos y todas!!! Qué bueno que le están dedicando más de su Canal a The Beatles. Me encantan. Saludos….
¡Han estado atrapadas dentro de mí durante mucho tiempo! Estoy muy contento de que algunas ahora estén permitidas en RUclips. ¡Gracias por escuchar!
Sounds fantastic. Will always be listening to them.
Thanks! I will be too!
Excellent .... excellent .... I am so grateful ... wonderful remix ...
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
really great job (as usual). special thanks for 'unburying' George
Thank you! It's nice to hear George. Thanks for listening.
One of my favorites songs of their first "era". Thanks for the vocals work
Thank you, it's my pleasure. Thanks for listening!
Increíble la voz de lennon 😢❤
John really sounds good in this remix! He sounds much better now then he did back in the sixties! Too bad they didn't have all this technology back then! They all sound great! The Beatles will never die! Their music lives on!
I agree! Thanks for listening!
@@britt2001b I hope you will do other songs by The Beatles! Especially each individual Beatle! I love to hear each one sing!
@@cjc-68 I will. I'll be posting a new Beatle remix very soon!
@@britt2001b Thanks!
Don't forget, George's voice is amazing too.
Increíble como se escuchan las voces, que nitidez y separación.

The Beatles version is so so much better than the tin can original. Thanks again luv.

Love it! Based on the USA albums the way we grew up listening.
Thank you! I treasured that 'Beatles' Second Album' from Capitol as a 14 year old back in 1964! Thanks for listening!

I was talking about this last night with my wife. She said it was better the Smokey. DON'TKNOW ABOUT THAT , THIS IS GREAT

The Beatles doing covers of other artist’s songs are mind boggling.......
wow.... *captivating* _indeed_
John’s vocal 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've always considered this a john/george song. Gonna go practice texting
Incredible work, man!
Thank you so much for the acknowledgment! You're listening is greatly appreciated!
Amazing yet again 😮
Thank you and thanks for listening!
Could you please do Long Tall Sally? I think that is one of their best performances and each gets featured from Paul’s vocal, John and George each get a guitar solo and Ringo crushes the end.
I have remixed 'Long Tall Sally' and it turned out quite good but it's not allowed for publishing on RUclips. I have published a segmented sample short of my remix comparing it side by side to the original mix which you can listen to here: ruclips.net/user/shortsbfq2cmLVX8I
If the link doesn't work, it can be found in the Shorts section of my channel. Thanks for listening!

This is still the most beautifully sung piece by Lennon.
One of the few songs John and George sang together!
This one is great. The way you split lead and back vocals makes the song more interesting. I notice in the "Hold Me" break parts when they stop , I can hear the paul and john vocals on the other channel and it sound nice and full on the both ends of the stereo field , is it possible to do that with the whole song on the vocals ?
Thank you! It was my intent to make the vocals sound more interesting. I think the professionals have a great opportunity with some of the early Beatle songs but they seem to be focusing on the instrumentation and trying to make the remix sound more modern , I guess to satisfy a younger audience. I'm only using a $70 de-mixing program. I'm sure they could do much better than me! I just try to make them sound as if they were recorded and mixed better within the time of the original recording. I think what you're hearing on the "hold me" breaks is my added reverb. I increased the reverb delay of all three voices to 3000ms. Paul's left vocal bounces off the right wall 3000ms later, George's right vocal bounces off the left wall 3000ms later and John's center vocal bounces off both the right and left walls 3000ms later. This added reverb is constant for the entire length of the song, it's just when everything stops that you hear all this fullness of voices. I timed the reverb to end at the point when the dry sound resumes. In the past, good recording engineers knew how to play the walls in a studio for this effect which now they just push a button. Those guys did it by the seats of their pants and didn't rely on a algorithm! To hear this fullness effect through out the entire song, you would have to pump the reverb further and I believe you'll take the risk of it becoming a wash of echo/reverb which would drain the energy. Sorry to get long winded in the reply but it's the only way I could answer your question if I've understood correctly. Thanks for allowing me though!
@@britt2001b I know what your saying when it comes to the mixing because I do that too. Try pushing the reverb all the way up on the the entire vocals and that will probably let you hear the vocals on full stereo field or just work on the left track vocals and push that all the way up both reverb and audio levels are heard throughout the song. I know that it's possible to do that.
Ah, I see what you're saying. I've set John's vocal reverb width at 100%. Paul and George's dry vocals are 70% from the center with the reverb pushing from each in the opposite direction. It would be interesting to put some reverb on the 30% other side to cover the entire stereo stage. Never know until it's tried!
@@britt2001b I usally don;t do stems because it's a lot of work , I only do it if I have a project that really needs it but whenever I do remixes , I make a few multiple different ones that sound good to me and save them and decided which one to use in the video or sometimes I make a few videos of the diffeent mixes but it saves a lot of time to do do diffrent mixes when your working on the song. The other reason is that if wait a day or two when your ears are fresh , you decide you rather have the other mix than the one you picked previous. I rememeber reading one story when the Beatles kept telling George Martin they did'nt like the mix and to do it over again he he relunctly said allright. They came in the next day and listen to it and they loved it then George Martin said , I did'nt remix it , its the same one , ha ha ha
That is so true!
Just heard that song thru radio & tapes in their album live at bbc the song is in mono & there's hiss while playing even the cd then can't even change it. now with ai tech the quality & clarity of record is really terrific
I'd buy another box of Beatles records in your mix YOU'RE BETTER THAN BOTH MARTINS
Thank you but please remember the Martins did most of the mixing you're hearing. I only separated the vocals more so than they and shifted a few things around. Thanks for your kind comment and thanks for listening!
At age 23, the others only 22 without any formal training, amazing vocalists. 🎉
❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve always said that although John’s voice was not as versatile as Paul’s , it had more soul. This is a prime example.

Better than the original
Don’t worry Bro I was there also for AC/DC when I was 30 still love both groups and I’m now 81 prefer AC/DC when bon was there 😃🤑💸🤷♂️
I'll get you in stereo and remastered would be top. The biggest problems of that song imo are the bass and the drums. Ringo's kick as well as the snare are just very unpunchy and it's hard to demix/separate those. The bass is so trebly that the ai assigns it to the guitars...partially and partially not.
I agree. Sometimes the inaccurate assigning can be repaired manually and sometimes it's just too overwhelming. I've worked on 'I'll Get You' often. Unfortunately it's blocked on RUclips. Thanks for listening!
Great harmony between John & george...Paul is listed as singing I don't hear him. Anybody out there agree
It is indeed a great harmony between John and George. You can hear Paul in the left channel during the "Hold me" passages singing the high harmony.
I hear two voices doing the answering bits in the right channel. Sounds to me like George and John, but probably George and Paul.
Canta a duo, John y George. Paul solamente hace la armonía.
It might be possible to improve upon this remix, but I find it doubtful. Still, I should keep an open mind.
How the hell did they go from leather jackets and dirty nightclubs to this in just a few years? I cannot wrap my mind around it.
The answer is their committed faith in Brian Epstein's' ideas and pure talent! Thanks for listening!
I love the Beatles.
But I can't help but think their extraordinary songwriting and irresistible charisma came from a darker source. Along the lines of what Bob Dylan alluded to in the Ed Bradley interview on 60 minutes.
I think they listened to everyone musically and worked hard to be perfect. They were sponges and talented like no one else.
There is really 3 Beatle Eras . 1. This the boy band 2. The modern and psychedelic Beatles and finally the mature Beatles white Lp , Let It Be and Abbey Road.....three destructive eras.....
There is nothing that sounds like a John Lennon vocal......with George and Paul doing double back up harmony while Ringo holds down the fort on the drums ........no other band can replicate this sound .....
Do you pitch correct?
No.
In addition to my previous comment I add response to comment posted 14 hours ago...I hear John & geeorge...I struggle to hear paul. I've always a john/george sing
back when john had voice
HE ALWAYS DID. TILL THE DAY HE DIED. Unfortunately, George lost his once or twice, and though Paul has outlived both of them, his voice, alas, has not.
@@auramacd3af, 99,9% of his 1967-1980 stuff sounds like a constipated cat voice, especially lucy in the sky with diamonds such a goofy Jerry Lewis getting a cold in a silly lazy role, just listen to whatever gets You through the Night or stand by me awfully he just wouldn't sing them like these old ones anymore
That's not the original mixing which was much better. But it is a super song!
How to make a really good song better ? Let the Beatles cover it........exhibit A
Do you can't do that next
I've worked on 'You Can't Do That' but have failed to get good de-mixing tracks. The vocals just bounce around all over the stereo sound stage. I can correct some of it manually but it is overwhelming. A lot of the early Beatle recordings have double tracked vocals which confuses the de-mixing process. I haven't given up though, it will just take more time to publish a more acceptable product if at all. Thanks for listening!
Should Have Known better has a real nice single tracked vocal, maybe try remixing that, do something fun with the harmonica, and plus you can use that pretty 6:30 footage!@@britt2001b
@@CartersRemasters The common stereo version of "I Should Have Known Better" does have John Lennon's vocals double-tracked . It's very easy to discern with headphones. I have a stereo version where the harmonica drop-out (in the intro) is fixed. It was done by a friend many years ago, way before DES and AI. He was a sound engineer and mixed a lot of songs into stereo decades before the treasure trove of stereo songs now available from places like Eric Records.
@@jerryrichmond4707 I know, I was referring to the alternative should have known better take
I don't hear anything special about this replay of that song. Overhyped? And, the heavily doctored videos aren't necessary if the audio is truly good or better. The audio is good. Not better. But good.
You’re entitled to your opinion Mr Meldrew...☹️
