The desk setup is complete! and absurd. The gear is never ever complete because i'm obsessed. But this desk setup is my favorite system to use everything.
You clearly need another 2x12U side rack with some other goodies in it. Like maybe a 500 series lunchbox or two. Some reverbs and other rack gear. THEN you'll be happy.
My question is: Why the 2 Apollos in the center? This kind of gear can be in a vertical rack on the side as you don't realy need to reach them so often. And having them "classicaly" vertical (or horizontal, it depends how you see the life... 🤓 ) is better for their cooling (the bigger surface facing the top). I know, I work with Apollo interfaces and I know how they can be quite warm after a day of work.
Andrew, your studio has now become a real full blown pro studio you covered all the bases great preamps and compressors etc.and desk is just amazing, now the sky is the limit great job!!!
Very smart setup Andrew, you need one ventilation panel between your Appolos uad. great preamps too. you are very good in bussines with your stuff instandly. Fabfilters and you going on.
Studio is looking amazing..I too highly recommend the gator products I have the synth stands/a mixer sidecar on wheels/speaker stands there well built and ive had mine for years with no issues.. I also have another set of there speaker stands and have a Novation circuit on one and a arturia micro freak on the other, they look brilliant
Looking very great my friend! U can always put the "Dangerfox 12U Under Carriage rack" under the desk for the interfaces and things u don't use much. Than u can put more gear in the desk itself haha. Great space!
Looks great. I’m interested in patch bay especially How to or which patch bay( TT, or xlr or 55 ) you use, how to connect them to your rack mount hardwares! I have few outboards only have xlr in/output and wondering what kind of patch bay I should buy.. if you can make video about it that would be great!
I would bring the rack with pedals and the revv amp over to the right side like your computer is on the left. I like the idea of spaceship/cockpit vibes.
Very nice. I build my own desks and racks. Can also cut a blank panel out of wood. I’m not made of money and I prefer to build and design exactly what I need for ergonomics and saving space. More money for expensive gear.
Great choice :-) But the two UA interfaces are missing in the middle bucket at the end of the video. Obviously they have been replaced by a 2U Gator...?
I have the Dangerfox 24 genesis largely because I watched Andrew’s and Colt’s videos on it. It took forever to get to me due to supply chain issues (not their fault), and the color wasn’t what I asked for (who knows what happened there), but I had waited so long I wasn’t that bothered by it. It is a beautiful desk, that uses no particle board; It’s all either solid wood for the ornamental portions of the desk or plywood. It’s very high quality. I also got the 88 keyboard addition, and that works great as well.
hey just wondering how long this took.. i’ve been waiting 5 months and am having a hard time getting responses from the company.. the idea that it might finally show up and be wrong is terrifying me now haha
Why not put the Apollos in the sidecar since you can control it via software? Then put the eqs in the speaker sweet spot where the Apollos are. Chain = Pres > EQs > Compressors > Apollos.
How are you getting those outboard preamps into your converters? Are you having to go through the UA preamp as well, so like double preamp? That’s what I’m dealing with now with the bae 1073 and my focusrite clarret.
Looks great Andrew, love the Dangerfox desk but shipping anything to Australia from the states is incredibly expensive. Wish they had an Aus distributor.
I have so many questions about your workflow with this setup. Are you moving all the way to the side out of the sweet spot to actually work in the DAW?
It all looks great. I feel like I would just put the interfaces in their own separate box somewhere off to the side though. You don't really need to access them frequently at this point in your home studio journey, right? Everything seems kind of semi-permanent. Moving those would free up 4Us you could use for other gear.
Curious, besides the heat you say the Apollo I/Os put out, what about noise? I’m a PT user and the 192 I/Os are too noisy to put that close/monitoring. Thanks!
You should try the AC INFINITY CLOUDPLATES rack coolers. They're all black, really quiet, temperature controlled, come in 1U-3U and they'll take up those spaces nicely. They're about $100-$200 each but worth it in the long run.
Please allow me two questions: 1. Which camera and lighting setup do you use? I tried to find a video on your channel talking about it, but I couldn't find it. 2. Why a UAD 1176 instead of a pair of warm audios? I'm asking this one cause the 1176 is on my radar to feed my G.A.S. I was considering the warm ones, but some reviews say they're not as great as other warm stuff. What are your thoughts on that? Love your channel, dude. Stay safe.
This maybe a dumb question, and I may get laughed at for asking, but….how often, if ever, do you pull everything apart (cables etc) and clean? I left things set up for quite a while sometimes for a big project and it gets to the point where I don’t need to label the mixing desk channels, I can just write it in the dust!
I'd say I take stuff out of my desk/sidecars a 3-5 times a year. I test and review gear so I'm constantly shifting things around and cleaning. Also I can't stand dust so I have a dust gun, paint brush, and vacuum almost every other day. Keeps the studio feeling fresh and comfortable.
@@AndrewMasters Congratulations! I saw the whole construction process, so I found the channel. Very good videos I have learned a lot! Can you do a video of patchbay for dummies? Haha
Looks great :) I dont think I would bother to have the interfaces in the middle, because i would never twiddle with those. So I'd put something with buttons that you twist often in the middle instead, and the least betwiddleth items to the sides... if that made sense in english :D
Amazing setup Andrew! This is so inspiring for me to design my own studio, desk and all. One question; since you have a blank space above the mic-preamps, why not move those up one space and move the 273 from the middle section to the bottom left? Any reason for keeping this one in the center section?
hi Andrew! Great video, congratulations on the space, AND on your RUclips success. Quick question if you have a moment: what the metering thing in between the speakers on the edge of your desk?
THE ISSUE is, that if you keep your Apollos like that, you will blow them due to heat problems. They need at least 1U Rack space empty above for cooling purpose. But every Apollo owner should know that right?! I am looking for an Apollo x16 right now, I could get one on Ebay for a very good price, BUT I decided NOT to buy any used one because I never know if the owner before did the same like you, not to give the unit the needed space to breathe. I better buy a new unit than one which is nearly blown. Oh.....continuing the video, I saw you did mention the heat problem. So I hope they have no unseen damages already.

Sweet sidecar, cool boss setup Andrew!
Watching this is like traveling back in time. Had to check my photos again.

Looks clean! I purchased an Argosy desk a few years ago. One thing I really like about Dangerfox is the beautiful wood. So classy!
Thanks Mark!

Thanks Andrew for showing Danger fox gear. I like their stuff. A lot of great options you have.
such a nice setup ive been watching your channel for a while now before you had this studio it has come along way congrats dude
Looks great Andrew! Love your videos!
Looking nice now, great. Love the cooling panels.
Very smart setup Andrew, you need one ventilation panel between your Appolos uad. great preamps too. you are very good in bussines with your stuff instandly. Fabfilters and you going on.
Good to see your Focals with the tweeters on the outside.
Also- looks like it’s time for some more SSL UF8! May as well pick up their Native Essentials plug in remote? Controller?
It looks like a console because it IS a console! Awesome setup!
You have taken your time and created an amazing setup. The Dangerfox desk was already amazing. Now with the sidecar it’s stunning.
Appreciate it

Amazing setup mate !
Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm. Great looking desk..hopefully one day I’ll have 8 WA-1073’s instead of my one.. As always, enjoy your videos.

Love the desk. Now clicking on the Sweetwater link.
Great choice :-)

They were relocated to the patch bay bucket
You can get 1/2 rack spacer panels, which would give you back an extra 1U in the centre rack.
You think those Gator rack covers will work for my dining room table? Got a couple 1u spots that need filling.
Might need a few
Man this looks great, and extremely functional! Great job my friend!
where do you find the channel writing strip tape?

You're studio has been completed a million times, enough with the complete.
Never
Why not put the Apollos in the sidecar since you can control it via software? Then put the eqs in the speaker sweet spot where the Apollos are. Chain = Pres > EQs > Compressors > Apollos.
They wound up in the sidecar on the left by the patch bay.
@@AndrewMasters Makes sense. Looks awesome.
noobie question but why do you use single channel for your wa73 and not buying dual channel instead ?
looking great dude! can't wait to see you put it to work
When you say you had a lot of gas in the past year how do you mean exactly?
How are you getting those outboard preamps into your converters? Are you having to go through the UA preamp as well, so like double preamp? That’s what I’m dealing with now with the bae 1073 and my focusrite clarret.
Everything goes to the patchbay. The apollos have Db25 line level inputs.

That is freakin niiiice Andrew. Your desk has grown very quickly. I'm trying to do the same, although in a smaller way...🏠🎧🎤🎙🎸🥁🎹

😅 already did - I move stuff all the time. I had it there to access my speaker volume comfortably, but now I have a solution arriving tomorrow!
@@AndrewMasters Good choice. Love it! Excited to see what monitor control you went with. ✌🏻

Do a video on the how you use the PatchBay!
How do you set pre levels at the board from behind the kit?
I don’t
