Hi All - As announced in this video (bit.ly/3eduRGS) I’ve launched a Career Consulting / Life Chatting “Service” where I’m meeting people virtually for 30 minute sessions. I’m continuing to make videos and answering every question I can in the comments as always and live streaming every Wednesday at 10pm EST, but this is a good opportunity if you’re in need of individually catered advice. If you’re interested, please fill out this form forms.gle/LRdnvX7inZWYoBrj7 Looking forward to hearing from you!
Great video! You've mentioned that you prefer to be asked specific questions instead of generic ones. Can you maybe name a few questions you've gotten from people trying to network that impressed you and felt organic?
One question I got receny - When you're working on deals, what makes you feel like "taking this job was really worth it"; it was open ended but made me reflect on my own career and made me say a lot hahaha
Was hoping you can do a video on how to land a return offer in IB in a summer internship, summer virtual internship is coming soon and could rrly appreciate your insight. Thanks so much for your videos!(:
Hey Bryan, your videos are super helpful! I think a video topic that would be helpful to expanding your audience would be getting into banking as an experienced candidate from management consulting/corporate finance or similar roles. Is it at all possible? With or without an MBA, how would one tackle recruiting for IB?
Thank you for the interesting insights Bryan! I'll be tuning in from Singapore. I hope to learn more about you and your career and how you can balance your career with RUclips. Don't forget me/us when your channel grows exponentially! :')
Hey Bryan, for networking do you think LinkedIn can help for landing up a Investment banking job ? Secondly, for entering into IB, do you think graduating from Bschool is easier for getting into IBanking ?
I've never used LinkedIn for IB networking LOL and in a way yes - especially if your school isn't a target school / if you lack finance experience, I think the b-school route is smart.
@@TheBryanJun makes sense. Jeez man! What if someone has no funds for Bschool yet, I guess he/she would have to wait for some time or probably luck to workout for them
Hey Bryan, how are you doing? I planning to go to Germany to pursue my MBA. I have some experience in data analysis. You know some kinds of programming experience. Is this a great asset to get into Investment banking?
Yeah they're really looking for all kinds of backgrounds recently - not sure if Germany is any different but in the states it's GMAT, GPA, rec letters work experience and your personal statement
I would assume it's definitely possible to get an interview, but you should note that there's people at target ivys who are also networking and they may be hard to beat
Hey Bryan, new to the channel. I'm a rising junior at Boston College studying economics and psychology. As an ec major who just completed my second year, I haven't had a ton of exposure to excel (as many of the ec classes were theory-based and centered on writing papers). I'm curious if you have any recommendations for specific courses I should look out for that may give me more exposure to excel, or any tips to learn it myself. I used it in one of my resource economics courses but even that only scratched the surface of excel. Thank you!
I wouldn't worry too much about excel as you learn much of it on the job and it's "easier" to learn it when you have an actual task at hand. I don't think any legitimate bank is going to ask you to perform excel in front of them for an interview so I wouldn't sweat it
Hey Bryan I’m in highschool and I want to become an investment banking analyst, so I was just wondering what colleges I should aim for. I am in the top 10% of my class, and I am a straight A student. I’ve looked into UT Austin and the University of Michigan because I have been researching and have seen that those are good schools that investment banks recruit from, but they are not Ivy League.
Super useful - I'm pursuing opportunities in the intersection of tech. and business and all your tips and insights are things I try to employ during networking! Great video!
I was wondering if you could help me with some tips or skills that I should build. Being a computer science engineering and not having any financial background, what should I do/focus on in general to build my resume and make myself a stronger candidate for investment banking?
Hello, I am from India and I was supposed to come to USA for my masters in business analytics (MSBA) this fall. Unfortunately, there has been some delay in my plans due to the pandemic. I plan to be in USA for my masters in 2021 now. I will be actively looking for finance related opportunities. Thank you for your help, Regards.
After addressing them as Mr/Ms should you continue calling them that after the initial email? Couldn't that limit your ability to create a close relationship?
Hey Bryan, dope content (as well as the 261-0 like/dislike record), just a quick question: Once I've found the person who I'd want to network with, is it a good idea to connect with them on linkedin first or is it excessive? Thanks!
This is what's wrong with the banking industry. You should be evaluated by your merit, your past achievements, not spam random people's email like a beggar. Study hard, win competitions, earn certificates/degrees. Stop bullshit your way into anything in life smh.

Such a good channel great mix of career/life advice and entertainment - most other RUclipsrs that make videos like you are actual ROBOTS
Thanks so much!

Had my first networking call today. This helped 😭🙏🏿
great to hear!
Can you do any videos on the importance of Excel in banking and what you need to know?
LOL maybe, it'll be a pretty boring video...
@@TheBryanJun I avoid the boring stuff best I can. New year resolution mayhaps
Hi Bryan,
Great channel with great insights! Really like how naturally you present everything!
Any networking advice for students from Europe (who already studied as exchange students in the US) and want to work in New York?
Glad you like them!

Could you please share insights on how to land a summer internship being an international student
Thank you
Great suggestion! I don't know much about the international process but can look into it

What are the odds of getting an IB offer simply by applying online (no networking) if you are at a target Ivy? Kind of curious.
Just apply through your school bro no need to sink as low as to applying through the general careers page for plebs.
I would assume it's definitely possible to get an interview, but you should note that there's people at target ivys who are also networking and they may be hard to beat

Idk much about UT austin but Umich is a great school for banking, Ross is def a target
Bryan, thanks for the information!
McCombs is definitely a target
How do you best advise finding emails?
try to remember unique words in them
I think they meant the email addresses of people you want to network with.
You had my like at "eeh err" 😁

I would work on getting soem finance related internship or club experience so you can show your passion / interest that is apart from CS

Yeah I think once you call and you feel comfortable go ahead and to the name

I'm not the biggest fan of LinkedIn but I'm sure if you keep cold messaging one person would reply. I'd establish a personal connection first

Any veterans interested in IB or in IB right now? I'd really appreciate speaking with any of you.
What's a veteran and IB and where is the relation
sup bryan
Hello!
only 5k view vid on youtube, with 0 dislikes
Wow
Do you do good at art i think i do 🖼
yo maybe you should add your surname or 'IB' or smth to your channel name bc its hard to find your channel when i just type 'bryan' on the search bar
I don't want to limit my channel to IB stuff so I'll probably leave it as just this for now - good suggestion though!
Would you be willing to hop on a brief phone call with a loyal subscriber?
HAHA :/ happy to answer questions here!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
