I should mention that as part of the Masterwork Dwarf Fortress Mod there is a more involved Hermit Mode that I have never played but looks cool.
Showing up for the fifth year in a row because yr boss said you had to keep trying to integrate the hermit into the economy, walking into the throne room and seeing Obok in a full set of steel and a solemn look on his face. "No trade" he mutters. You sigh, explaining again that this is but a formality. A shriek of "NO TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADE" is the last thing you hear before your world quickly fades to black.

I like to think that Moldath kept coming back in an attempt to convince Obok to end his isolation and come home.
Makes it more fun and tragic.

he had a wheelbarrow but he only used it like twice in 5 years!

theyre bugged in steam version, among other things
You have to set them to specific stockpiles or they won't use them. It defaults to 0 so increase the number of wheelbarrows for that stockpile and voila.
Now I want to make a cat lady playthrough. Like this, but with a lot of cats.

The armor issue I believe can be fixed by selecting “armor replaces clothing” instead of “worn over clothing”

I've lost like 6 miners in my current fort btw lmao.
One of them actually not only survived a reptile spearman ambush, but she successfully killed 3 of them. Only to be encased in obsidian a few short years later.
She has a slab next to the statue we made of her killing the reptile ppl. A true hero of the working class, Rigoth was.

This is I think the most intreasting DF play I've watched. It's a crying shame that the dwarf doesn't seem to be able to be happy in these conditions. Fair enough of course, but still. 😂 It looks like a combination of Fortress and Adventure mode, and a ton of fun. I think I'll try something like it, but with a population cap of around 7.

I really love Dwarf Fortress but I don't like how the time flies in the game. In Rimworld the day and night circle makes much more sense.

The reason that he does not keep the armour on is because they have a uniform for each job they are assigned. It becomes very obvious when it's only one person and they are a military person with multiple roles.

How do you expel the other 6 dwarves on start? How exactly?
If i remember correctly, in the top right corner of each dorfs character sheet, near the follow camera button, is an expel from fort button.
