    I think Tim’s beats with the Ensoniq and the synthesizers are still fresh and timeless unlike a lot of today’s music with the more advanced technology. That old analog music is classic and people will never get tired of it! I like the new technology but it seems like most producers lack the raw talent to make classic, timeless music with it.

      Exactly!
      Back in the era we had to carry our equipment! lol
      Now these days most of the equipment is emulated through a plugin! lol
      It's funny how now they try to emulate the sound of that era and then call it lo-fi
      Love the new technology but something about crate digging and having hardware is where we felt in love!
      Recording on a tape or cd and going out to the car or playing in the walkmen and testing it out the mix! lol Those are the classic good old days!
      Coming from the mpc 2000xl , ensonic, ASR-10, SP1200, DR rythm boss drum machine and MOPHAT and MOTIF midi modules and a bunch of darn cables lol
      Now everything is on a platform like a splice, Floppy disk and 3.5 disk and ziiggy cables, ADATs, Real to Real have been replace by a cloud server or an external ssd! It's pretty amazing how time evolved with the technology for music and producers/ artist!
      He said it the best , " its not about working harder and playing the actual music , it's about working smarter! Becaus through the speaker he still hearing talent despite how its been created!
      This is so true these days the speed of creating has become simple not easy but simple!
      You dont have to wait for boot up disk, loading sequences, heck Anyone knows who had an ASR-110 how that thing would just shut off out of no where and you better had saved the sequence! lol
      Great video!.

      the sounds used are too simple, don't stand out. If you can make a great melody out of it, it will still stand out. But that is the problem: no good enough hooks or theme's are being made.

      Timbaland is kissing the a***s of young people. I have never understood that. He cannot make a hit, now, because he is trying to fit in…when music is nowhere as good as it was when he was at his peak. He knows it, he is just pandering, and that NEVER works.

I understood what he means by analog and digital but I think he's wrong because a lot of that stuff he did in the late 90s still sounds fresh asf, I was listening to the Eurythmics, " here comes the rain again", " sweet dreams" and besides boosting some low end on the drum those songs don't sound dated. Some shhh just holds up.

I got Acid pro from my homie and made beats with that I didn’t know any better and then add an input device like a keyboard and you’re good to go. At the end of the day these DAWs are just tools that you learn how to use, if my homie was using another program I would be using that you feel me

      I completely see what U are saying....Im evolving my Mindset to get it to where I take out a Rite or Wrong aspect and instead embrace Personalized versions of any Topic/Subject. Rite now, it's about Musical Production. To me, I have a musical history that goes back to analog days, and songs were written & melodies were written, chords were written and matched musically and/or Vocally.
      Fast Forward to 2022, everything is damm near push-button instant sound that mimics an instrument or a voice, aka auto-tune....
      For Me, I appreciate a Producer and this type of Musical Thinker that can take a concept from Analog process as far as knowing what the sound will be that he is lookin for and can write musical notes 🎵 and then relay that to an instrument, at that Point, U are The Real Master of your Craft. Instead of jus knowing a virtual piece of what a synthetic keyboard can offer.
      So, although I thoroughly have Enjoyed TB's musical catalog, I jus think he could be Lite Years ahead of his Peers if he sat down with Quincy and learned the Art of Composition & Then add that to his arsenal. That's all, thats it!!

    7:37 With all the respect for Timbo and his R&B productions for Aaliyah and a couple of others, but I disagree on that point he mentioned. Real art goes its own way, it's not sport, you don't have to do all the things the majority does or prefers. Unless you're talking about pop songs, OK then. But if you don't, than just do your thing. And oldschool gear starts to be the subject of interest to modern producers.

    Music doesn't have to be one way. It doesn't have to be just Analog or just Digital. We have to find what works. Sometimes bring different elements takes the sound to a higher level.

    Timbo makes many valid points, but I have to disagree to a point. For decades producers have been looking to the past for inspiration in the form of sampling. If you took away the technology, that wouldn’t have been possible. If you take away today’s technology it wouldn’t be possible to do, for example, cord progressions with one finger. Those musicians who can play an instrument, can always create organically at the highest levels of creativity and originality. Those who wait on technology or have to depend on technology are always at the mercy of technological advancements and economic access to such technology.
    So, those who say they are not making music today are correct; they are simply refactoring or rearranging music, not creating it! Which is cool if that’s what they are in to doing. Just know that there is a difference.

    • @ELLIOT8209
      @ELLIOT8209 2 года назад +1

      The previous ones depended on the keyboard or guitar to play. Someone had to make those instruments the same way someone had to make a DAW.

    • @kahyui2486
      @kahyui2486 Год назад

      Most people who play instruments can not write or produce music.
      People always forget that too.
      Go into any music school/college, most are just playing other people's songs and never doing anything of artistic merit.
      And producers today write, arrange, play, mix and master. People of previous generations did not! Music was always made in teams. Even prince had writers working for him.

    its called loops and the downfall of that is that everything has that same cadence to it unlike earlier production where you had to play keyboards therefore the music is felt more and distinguished among musicians making real art ,or drawing the picture and coloring it..all Timbaland ever did was color not to say that he cannot

      Big Band (1920s-1940) Said it about rock. Rock (1960s-1980s) said it about hip hop and heavy metal.
      Music from every new era is criticized by the era that preceded it. It's expression. So there is no one way or 10000 ways to do any one thing.
