    Thank you for another excellent review Professor. I'm a big fan of Jackery and of all your review video blogs.. Jackery suits me (I have two of the Jackery explorer 1000s, a Jackery 160, and 2 of the excellent Jackery 100 watt portable solar panels). Jackery is a California based Company with excellent customer service and a great reputation. I like their products, because they're compact, simple to understand and use, safe, reliable, and light weight. I started looking into the battery backups available on the market because of the all the power outages that the California Edison Company has during our hot summers. I've lived in a remote area of the Mojave Desert for 44 years, and the amount of food I've had to throw out over the years due to power outages, not to mention the sweat and discomfort when the power is off and the outside temp. is above 115, made me raid my wallet and spring for some way to be prepared for the outages.. Based on your review of the 2400 wh Bluetti, I also have one of those that runs a small through the wall A/C for a number of hours when power is out.
    The Bluetti is another excellent product, although it's too heavy for 83 year old, me, to move around and use for all sorts of power needs as I do with the Jackeries. You are a national treasure Professor Hobo. Your skills in testing and explaining new technologies are marvelous and I'm sure have helped thousands of other people who have stumbled on RUclips and You, in their quest for explanations of this technological world we now live in. Thank you!

    • @charless8641
      @charless8641 4 года назад

      I have them each matched with a panel and each has a task to take care of .
      Refrigerator freezer fans and one to charge flash lights and other electric devices.
      My setup is manly for when we have power outage.
      I do use them for when my family goes to the lake for the day.
      Over all I have been using them for things I never imagined like when I clean the interior of the suv it’s great to not have wait until I get home, the kids always find a way to get mud and dirt everywhere, so many uses I can’t list them all.
      I have been very pleased with how versatile these units are.

    Note that you do want a cloudy day, the sun rays are magnified by x2 off the edges of the clouds giving you more power to that solar panel. I’ve had a 7.8kw home solar system since 2007 and you can see those solar ray peaks as the clouds go by. Awesome video, I am sold on the Explorer 300 for my camping needs. Thanks

    Based upon your review and recommendation, I bought the Bluetti 1500 and couldn't be happier. It runs my 40 litre Engel fridge/freezer set at ZERO degrees for 2 whole days without being recharged at all. I used a recent coupon code to buy it and wanted to pre-order the Bluetti AC50S but couldn't use the same code again. The $50.00 off that you posted today worked perfectly. I have a first generation Ecoflow River so I can wait for the AC50S to come in. Looks like Bluetti may have Jackery looking over their shoulder! Keep up the good work!

    HoBotech You failed to mention the rubber 12V Cover that's new! (We have spoken about that in the pass as an issue)
    Now if they would cover the other ports.
    This will be great when its in the 500+ power range. 300 is on the low side just n case u need it to last more than a day or running higher power items. This is more for weekenders that can charger everything up before they leave and keep charging in the car until they reach there spot. Over 2 or 3 days cant see this lasting other then to charge phones. Which for $300 must be better ways to do so. I doubt it would power a 12V frig for days.

    Hobo, thorough review and my compliments as an Electrical Engineer, no one does it better than you or Will. Regarding the issue with the heat gun shutting off at lower power settings, you are probably running into issues with inductive resistances and power factor from the motor. Typical heaters like you have are purely resistive so they may fool the circuitry to deliver more power. Also, the meter itself may be fooling you so a True RMS meter should be used. Otherwise, great job as always!

    • @HOBOTECH
      @HOBOTECH  4 года назад +4

      I used a 3rd party meter but cut that out due to time. I haven't had issues like that before where the power ramps down as I turn up the heat. The only thing similar was with the R600 but it was lowering the voltage where the Jackery wasn't. Was quite odd.

    Hey Tom. I thought I'd let you know that Jackery has upgraded the controller in the 500 model. It's now MPPT. They also extended the time until auto shutdown to 12 hours instead of 6 hours. They've obviously been listening to you and others. I made an unboxing/review video of it where I show the manual at the end, where it clearly states it's using MPPT. Cosmo Weems contacted Jackery to clear up the confusion and they told him that they have upgraded since the Jackery 500's release last year.

    • @HOBOTECH
      @HOBOTECH  4 года назад +1

      I'll verify with Jackery if they really did update the 500 but the fact they didn't say a word about it or send me an updated model to review makes me believe it hasn't actually been updated.

    I got this Jackery a few months ago and it performs pretty good, one of the things I don't like is that doesn't shut off by itself when is not in use (no draw from ac, usb or12v, etc.) need to be turn off or on every time. Powerbanks to charge phones and bluetooth speakers, for example, have that feature to save battery. That would be a fantastic feature but maybe for future products. Little inconvenience but not terrible. After all I like it, I think is a must have for any emergency situation...Thanks for very info. video...

    I have an EcoFlow River 2 & EcoFlow 110W Solar Panel which I both love. I was choosing between Anker, Bluetti, Jackery & EcoFlow. Ultimately I decided on the EcoFlow. Each of these brands have units of different sizes that are all relatively comparable in size, features & price. However they do have slight variations in pros & cons between comparable models.
    Really, you can’t go wrong with any of these brands. The trick is finding one that suits your needs the best. One of the slight annoyances is the different solar cable connectors that are different among the brands & can vary between units of the same brand. They kind of want you to get & use the same brand solar panel with the portable power station that you get. E.G.my EcoFlow uses at xt60 to MC4 solar cable whereas the Jackery 300 has a dc7909 port on the power station. You can get an xt60 to dc7909 cable so you can use the EcoFlow solar pane with the Jackery 300 or do what I did - get a 6-in-1 universal solar cable that has 6 different connectors. It costs a little more but is worth it for its versatility.
    Anyway, I just ordered a Jackery 300 because of the killer Black Friday deals. It’s on sale for $199 & I got a $15 coupon code. 🙂 I almost went with the Bluetti EB3A which is a nice unit. The Bluetti Eb3A is 268Wh vs Jackery 300’s 300Wh IIRC or maybe its 298 but it is more than the Bluetti. i was leaning toward the Bouetti because they have an 804Wh expansion pack, the B80 which works with the EB3A which is awesome. It kind of helps to future proof it. your review kind of swayed me to go with the Jackery. Jackery users seem to really love their units & rave about Jackery customer service.
    Both my EcoFlow & Jackery portable power stations are around 300W. In the future I want to add to my little power station grid with a 700-1000W unit. I’m thinking I might get a Jackery 1000 or one of the new Bluetti units the AC180 or AC70. The AC180 is 1440Wh & the AC70 is 768. I wish that I had the money to buy the Bluetti AC180 right now. As of 21NOV23 the $999 MSRP of the AC180 is $350 off. It’s on sale for $649 which is insane! The AC70 is only $100 off of its $599 list price for $499. At that price the AC180 is almost too good to pass up. I’d get it but I ordered a Hiboy S2 EScooter because it was on sale. I figured a smaller portable power station & an eScooter is better than one big portable power station & no eSscooter.
    Anyway, thanks for the review as always. They are extremely helpful. This is my first Jackery unit as I have always gone with Anker & EcoFlow stuff so I am excited about it. I try to not get caught up with brands but judge on merits & specs as far as tech items go anyways. Sometimes brands are helpful in that some are well known & have a good reputation as far as quality, reliability & customer service which is what I care about; cachet doesn’t concern me. Thanks again & keep up the great work HOBO!😉

    Nice testing. This Jackery 300 looks really good. I like that it's very small and has decent specs in every area. Mppt and pure sign is amazing and oozes quality design to me. I work with some electronics technicians and a good cheap yet effective AC load test is a light bar with some sockets on it. Just add what ever amount of bulbs and get the various loads you want. It's hard to get incandescent bulbs since they are phased out but you can still get 60w stove bulbs that work well!

    The problem with jackery is they do not respond to phone calls or email. At least from me. I bought a 500 watt through Amazon. Before I bought it I had questions that weren't answered on the website. For a few weeks before I bought my unit I called jackery at least 30 times. I emailed them four or five times. I left multiple messages and not one time did I ever get a response. I finally contacted Amazon and they contacted jackery and after 2 days I got a basic letter. I kept over and over and over trying to get my questions answered. All they would really do is send standard form letters and no real responses. I told them I had called and left messages and finally got super short answers to my questions. They could have just called me or answered the phone and it would have took 3 to 5 minutes and it would have been over instead of a two or three-week headache from a company who in my opinion doesn't give a damn about customers. On one of the letters the person mistakenly sent me a copy of all other letters they had sent to other people about me trying to get questions answered and they were putting me down for asking, they were calling me a stupid American for asking and so on. I complained about this and they sent me some small $30 power bank to try and make up for their bad business tactics and shity way of treating customers. I did end up buying the 500 watt through Amazon. Hoping if there was a problem at least I would have some type of recourse. And as I Feared Two-plus Weeks Later the wall charging unit stopped working. I called jackery and left messages and got no response I send emails and got no response. I went through Amazon and got no response so I reply to one of the old emails that I had got and got basically got an empty response form letter. So I told them how shity their customer service was and told them if they're going to run a business they really need to answer the goddamn phone and answer the emails or take both of them off their website and stop lying to people telling people to contact them that way when they don't respond. After a few weeks I finally got my replacement part. Don't get me wrong I really like my power bank. I think it's a good product itself but their customer service and the way they treat their customers is absolute shit. At least for me. There was no reason for all of that to go that way for me. They tell you to leave a message and someone will contact you and they don't. They tell you to send the emails on that phone call and someone will respond to the email and they don't respond. If you buy a jackery power bank go through Amazon.

    Nice review! Detailed as usual. Thought I'd buy it. Then found that by early evening on the first day it's sold out? Come on Jackery! If you're going to introduce a new model have at least one day's supply on hand. Smells too much like bait and switch to me. After 8 years in the business they have a pretty good idea of how many units they need in stock to meet demand. A sell out in 12 hours had to be part of the plan. I'll now look to other manufactures to meet my needs.

    A lot of portable solar panels have a DC out and have a myriad of adapters. I have a Beaudens 100w panel set and it has an adapter to that fits Jackery. Bear in mind that to run parallel with another panel, I have to use a DC to MC4 and then an MC4 to DC with the adapter back into the Jackery. A lot of jump starters come with the same adapters as do some universal laptop chargers.

    Got mine the other day and was testing with a TP-Solar 120W folding panel and a Dometic CFX3 75DZ. Charging and running was working ok, until I hit over temperature limits. Which is going to suck here in Phoenix. Nice clean sun, but over 104 even in the shade. Also on the TP-Solar 120W panel. I like the size of it, but I got max around 81 watts. Not very scientific testing at this point. Was just trying to do things easily. My home refrigerator had died when this covid stuff all started, so I've been working towards a backup, that is portable and usable for at home emergencies, camping, road trips, and sailing trips. That is without having to buy ice / every day. Longer cables should let me to position everything so the Jackery and Dometic are inside. Which will help with the heat for a little bit. Power doesn't go out very often here, but when it does it can get hot fast. I'll be looking for an extended temperature range power station. Enjoying the channel and reviews. Thanks.
