I realize it's been a few weeks since my last Powerpuff video, and that's partially due to a few reasons. I was sick, I was testing the waters with those other videos I released, and most importantly, I was waiting for a buffer of episodes again. But yes, it's time for me to get back into the swing of things with this week's episode: Odd Bubbles Out.

This was made for the purpose of criticism & discussion and is considered Fair Use under RUclips & Federal Copyright Law. All of these clips are narrated over top of and edited so that I only need to show what is necessary for me to explain my critiques.

At this point, I'd be very shocked to see a fight scene where the girls don't instantly get defeated. It's really disheartening

I have a theory. I believe that this writers hated the original PPG and this show just exist to humiliate the PPG. But seriously what kind of dumb asshole reduces 3 of the most powerful super heroes in cartoon history into damsels in distress and they even make superman weakness of a rock look like a freaking nuclear weapon. This show only exist in order to see how many face palms it takes to break a face.

Also WHY DO THE GIRLS WALK SO DANG OFTEN? In the original show, I hardly remember seeing them walk or even touch the floor. Y'know, because they're a foot tall and it'd take them forever to get anywhere
Because of hack writers, that's why.
Which is crazy because having them fly would probably be easier to animate than walk cycles.
I remember one part in the episode "Simian Says" when the girls are walking to Townsville (because Mojo is controlling the narration) and Buttercup says "these feet are clearly not made for walking."

The curse of tiny legs
To be honest, I was more annoyed with Donnie/Donny's behavior than Bubbles going yandere.
I hate those commercials for new episodes of shows that get all over dramatic when they say "you won't believe the reveal" or "you won't believe what happens" and then immediately show a clip of it..........
Or when they say, “Your new favorite show”
I wish Mojo was all dark and serious like he was in the movie.
Bruh the movie's coloring looked AMAZING, The villans, ESPECIALLY FUZZY LUMPKINS LOOKED SCARY.

It's really sad that this show is becoming more and more predictable.

Im glad the reboot is alright now its improving but am I the only one who just doesn't think its a good reboot? Hardly any action or darkness, theres no edge or creepy stuff except that Viral Spiral special. Its just boring and dull

Yeah I would rather watch PPG2016 than any of the TTG episodes. ITs just this particular reboot makes me angry cos PPG has more of a connection to me than TT.

I may have mentioned this before in another video, but I want to like this show. I really do for nostalgia's sake, but every time I watch a new episode, I'm just reminded of why everyone hates this new remake.
At least in the episode "Fashion Forward" they made the Professor's personality similar to the original, which is an improvement in my book (hopefully, they keep him like that but I'm not keeping my hopes up).

This reminds me of the episode where they meet the new girl Autumn (the infamous "I was an accident too" girl) and she is tricked by Princess. Mojo was a win but his plan could've been a twist on the unicorns powered by virgins myth. Instead of virgins make it innocents I don't know. Donnie is a character I wish was handled better mainly because of story potential. Have horses be mad at him for abandoning his "original self" or his adoptive family show up. ANYTHING! Thank you for the review, Mr. Streak.

This episode reminder me a episode of "My life as Teenage Robot" called "No Harmony with Melody"
Where Brad meets again new friend named Melody. Jenny gets jealous about her. And at end discover they discover she is secretly android created by a mad scientist who is also her father. Melody only wants a normal teenager like Jenny.
Donny's defining character trait isn't that he's a unicorn, it's that he's the stereotypical moocher/dickhead/oaf comic relief friend that (hopefully) learns to better themselves by the good influence of the character that they hang around with.
And they never change because that would require competent writers
Fun fact, the voice of Chelsea (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) also voices Grace from Infinity Train.

Powerpuff Girls or Teen Titans Go?
HINT: Both are garbage.
TTG at the very least knew what vision they were going for. They are the MAD Magazine of cartoons: A media that lampoons sources and uses crass humor that pisses people off but attracts an audience by doing so.
PPG16 is just a mess with janky focus and identity crisis by claiming to be new while also attempting to appeal to older fans, on top of being made without McKracken's consent and dropping the original VAs for no damned reason.
The reason they dropped the old team was because CN was AWARE if they oversaw the writing and animation there would be a lot of objections to the choices made. Think about it; this is Craig's (and Lauren's) baby and with him back in charge he would more or less work CN to a level they have not done in a long, long, LONG ass time. Without him, the new heads can do whatever the fuck they want and give artistic and writing control to whom they deem is worthy and....yeah....
THAT HASN'T WORKED OUT, HAS IT?
My guess why Tom Kenny is still in the series is mostly because he's in EVERYTHING....but what about Tara Strong? It could be argued that with the new VAs for the girls it would have been massively AWKWARD to have her acting with these kids, as well as bring up WHY she was kept on while the other two were not. The sad thing about all of this is that this reboot shows that the current crew of CN have no fucking clue how to handle a reboot and it's not like this is the first time. They fucked up again with Ben10 which was once again taken form the original creator(s) and handed off to the current crew at the network who have shown that once they're pushed outside of their elements they're lost.
That....that is REALLY bad for a bunch of professional animators and writers. You can say that certain people have their niche and I understand that. I have my own niche and so do other writers but I question a lot of choices CN has made as of late when it comes to handling their shows. If certain members of the new crew were so uncomfortable with the assignment, you'd think they'd inform the higher-ups or at the very least research more about the show they've been given the task of continuing, especially when the head of the new series has stated that this is indeed a CONTINUATION.

And sorry for the double-post but I realized there is an episode of a show I adore that did this better. It's sort of niche in terms of who knows about it but I wanted to do this comparison.
There is a little animated series called Sally Bollywood about a girl in India who runs her own detecive agency. They had an episode earlier in the series where Sally was pen-pals with a girl whom she considered a homebody as in the girl liked to keep things organized and clean and as it wasn't something that Sally liked she thought they could never get along. As that episode ended however, Sally's penpal actually helped her solve the case (via email communications due to the severity of it) because she knew about chemical make ups in cleaning products that lead Sally to the final clue and Sally realized that the girl was a lot smarter than she expected and became good friends with her.
A few episodes later, they introduced the girl as an actual character, Anna, and Sally had more or less planned a similar situation that Bubbles did with Donnie in that Sally wanted to show Anna all around the school and her lab. However, as it was school clean-up day, Sally wasn't able to and another girl, Crystal showed up. The thing with Crystal is in another episode she was the culprit of a case Sally solved but as we find out Crystal only committed the crime (cleaning up TOO MUCH and shrinking wash, ect) because she actually has OCD and didn't want anyone else to be dirty either.
Crystal is uppity but she's not stupid but she does serve as a foe to Sally due to her personality and it is this that bothered Sally when Crystal found a LOT of things in common with Anna and the two became friends. It's because of this that when a case does come up, Sally keeps blaming Anna for it based on her own bias against her and the fact that the crime looks similar to something that Crystal would do. At one point, Anna calls Sally out for her bias, as does Sally's partner Doo-Wee, and says that even though she likes Crystal she still likes Sally and there is actually no reason for either girls to fight. In the end, Crystal, Anna, and Sally use their talents in what they love to solve the crime, the lesson being that even with their difference the girls do have things in common and it's okay for them to share friends. The other lesson was that Sally was wrong to try to for Anna into picking her friends for her as Anna did like Crystal but she still wanted to hang out with Sally as originally planned but so many things happened in the case that distracted them.
Why am I bringing this up?
BECAUSE THAT SHOW FROM LIKE 2008 OR WHATEVER DID THE WHOLE 'BUT MY FRIEND IS FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE ELSE' PLOT BETTER.
Seriously, in the end the episode sucked because both Bubbles and Donnie were in the wrong and not for reasons to show a 'moral' but to show they were just annoying assholes. THE END.
All jokes aside, I feel like they might be trying to redeem the show a little. Seeing Mojo being evil was refreshing.
All they need to do is stop getting one shot by villains, stop having normal people be the heroes for like super villains (or actual monsters), stop bubbles from being triggered easily and MOAR VIOLENCE!!! >:3
oh and make the professor more useful.

I know I’m late with this reply section but I remembered drawing Powerpuff girls all the time in fifth grade and they looked way better than the reboot. Even my comics of them had an actual plot than the reboot itself.

Yep pretty much. I actually hate this show more than I let on but I try not to come off that way in my videos. I know that no matter how hard this show tries, the original will always be superior in every way.

Aw man great video but I was a little disappointed in that overused triggered joke. I don't think triggers are something to laugh about considering they're related to PTSD flashbacks.

That's okay, I understand. Everyone has a different sense of humor so I don't expect everything to hit all the right notes with everyone. But thanks for the heads up :)
