well some little things I have to say about that, your car didn't get warm, for 2 reasons, first you turned up the heater all the way so any heat the engine generates you take it away immediately so no chance for the engine to heat up and so the passenger compartment won't heat up, another trick is, to put paper, cardboard etc. in front of the grill so no ice cold air can enter your engine bay and cool down the engine even more, all the heat from the engine is needed to warm up your passenger compartment so no worries for overheating and even if, your car will show you if it gets too hot at such weather One more thing, when you start the car, turn off your ventilation and lights, as it only takes away power from your battery, after starting the car, turn on the rear window defrost and the lights immediately but don't turn on the ventilation, so you put some littly load on the engine and it can warm up a bit faster while you free the side and front windows from ice, just as little tips, for the next time that it'll be so cold
you don't have to put cardboard in front of the radiator. There is a built-in thermostat that ensures that your cooling water circulates in the engine.
dont know how no one else has pciked up on this put its ffour years later and wanna let you know youre wrong, he turned the heater down when he turned the key
@@willcampbell7162 yes and at 2:12 you can see that the fan is on III. When there's no warm water in the engine that does nothing other than delay the warm up of the engine
@@JordamWesterink yes the thermostat controlls the flow of the coolant to the radiator although there's a small pinhole in it to get rid of air in the cooling system. Moreover the cardbord controlls the airflow through the engine bay. Even if the thermostat is still closed the engine block will still heat up and will take longer to heat up when there's a flow of very cold air hitting it. Same goes for the heat from the exhaust. Yes that effect is slim to none but still. At -30°C everything counts in a badly insulated car which has a heater core that is too small due to cost cutting. So 75°C coolant temperature is then a HUGE difference to 60°C in cabin heat. I don't worry for the engine. It takes years of neglectance or malicious intend to destroy one of these engines.
Late reply I guess, but I have another tip: Don't. The AC clutch only engages AFTER the car has already started. It makes absolutely no difference DURING the startup.
That's not actually true. Battery performs well in a certain temperature range. Having the lights on, warms up a bit the battery a bit. Compared to the starter motor's power need, it's really nothing, you sacrifice a really small percentage of charge, in order to get a bigger starting power. (high current draw)
@@ENTK87 u are right but this is so only when the battery has a verry smal electrical charge aplied all the time like a small LED blinker inside the car ..... for 10 seconds before starting the car turining lights and AC on does not help at all ...... it does not do damage either .... @@ENTK87 ..these cars dont have a normal size 55-60ah battery its a 30ah lawnmower battery... even in hot weather the dome light is losing power if you are using the electric windows.
If you need to block radiator your thermostat has gone bad. Cars in general will keep you warm even in extreme conditions, on the other hand thermostats fail all the time and cheap temporary fix is to cover the radiator. Few exceptions apply.
+louis smeets Neither would I but it's my moms old car that I got for free when she bought a new one and they live far down south so I drove it all the way up here this winter :)
It's about 250km south of the pole circle so in northern Sweden. Where in Sweden did you go? It's not cold here now, about 10ºC so no wonder you didn't freeze. Wait a few months then you probably will if you're up this far :)
Yes you need the AC

This car has no engine temp gauge.

The little car that could!
Tipp: Turn A/C off during start....
Sascha Zimmer thanks but I've sold the car. Have a older Toyota atm and will probably make a new video on that one as son as it gets cold 👍

@@ast5515
That's abolutely not the point.
The compressor and the fluid inside can be frozen so it will damage the compressor when it will be engaged
@@JRCW892 Which is why the AC clutch won't engage under the a certain temperature. Car manufacturers are not stupid.
@@JRCW892 The air con fluid cannot freeze. The gas chosen has to work at low temperatures because that's what air con does.
Turno lights and A/C off when you start the car
The usual winter in Russia.
Last winter, I started my 107 at -30 to warm up, he needs about 30 minutes.
спасибо! буду греть полчаса
Wait lets say 2 minutes maximum, then slowly drive. Better for your car.
Best regards.
I want to know the brand of battery. It turns perfect.
Don`t start with your lights on! Battery is the weakest link in the starting process.

to get warm you need use a thick paper before a radiator
Even better if you use this pallet package thing which is like cardboard, but made of plastic.

I had one couple of years ago. It just needed 5 seconds to figure out that it's -35 celsius and then it was ready to go.
Peugeot powerrr here ! best start up , only 2 times
The engine is from Daihatsu
May the battery goes down on that temperatures and better to start up with everything's off . But wao, im impressed 👍🏽
Damn, never been in -30 degrees. Poor little Peugeot ;p
+louis smeets Hehe yeah the car didn't really like it and neither did I... Only -10 degrees and 50-75cm snow atm so summer is coming ;)
+NoExitTV Wow, it's like 0 here, so winter is coming XD, I wouldn't buy a 107 if I lived there
+louis smeets Neither would I but it's my moms old car that I got for free when she bought a new one and they live far down south so I drove it all the way up here this winter :)
+NoExitTV Ohhh, free cars are always good :) for free this is a very good car I's say
sounds swedish. like pewds you know😋
What’s your oil grade? 0w20, 0w30, 0w40? I’m travelling to Europe in mine in the dead of winter and don’t really wanna be using 5w30 oil.
5-w30
5w-30 is fine until -25. It rarely gets that cold unless you go to the northern parts of Scandinavia or Russia.
Made in Czech Republic, car faktory TPCA Kolín.
hello is it ok if i use a part of this video in my compilation? of course i will link the original in the description.
AC on, another belt and compressor that needs to be turned. Genius....
Do this to my daily Civic Si and no worries...all winter long.
peugeot 107 negative to positive wrongs way jumpstart it not start i check the fuse it's fine i don't know what i do
Uh... With this temperature, the problem will not be the car, but me stuck in my bed
Where is this in sweden? Just did a road trip across sweden, but it didn't freeze

I went all the way up to finland, then I drove back to copenhagen :)
Ooh that's a long drive and you probably drove past where I live :)
A little over 5000km in 10 days, it was awesome !
Ooh nice. What brought you up this far and what car did you drive if i may ask?
Sweden?
Yeah
My battery would need jumping about 20 times
Is it a petrol or diesel
Petrol
@@merlin9240 nice because u can get a Hdi which is ok and u get a petrol 998cc
What no engine block heater? Good way to damage the engine with such a cold start. Should be plugging that vehicle in at -15C. Yeesh.
didn't it get warm for real?
Damn... Turn the AC off, you will destroy the compressor...
Yes 👍
Late reply, I know.
You won't destroy anything. The AC button is on but the compressor doesn't turn on below 0 degrees.
Lol its idling at 1600 rpm
Mhm? It's -30
+NoExitTV yeah i know, just never saw something like this...!
+Sander Monster Ah. Well the idle revs goes down when it gets a bit warm XD
NoExitTV does it mean that engine is on its optimal temperature if it starts idling in 800-900 rpm after a while?
Zemzem Dağdelen
No, it just means, that the zylinderhead temperatur is fine, your coolant and oil ist still to cold to drive with full throttle
With AC on... 😂😂😂
toyota engine normal
Daihatsu*
jävlar va kallt...
