the sound is intoxicating, the body work is really incredible. Aluminium !! Amazing work Jim. A beautiful car, and you drive the nuts off it too!!! AWSOME!!
I just was at paddy's markets tonight and saw the GT first hand and spent an age looking over it and had a chat to Jim’s partner about it. A fantastic showcase for craftsmanship. Absolutely loved it.
I love seeing people in their element of their passion and especially speaking of it... There is something extra specially about a person of the trades being able to create something from nothing though... Kudos and hats off! This is a sublime effort and mammoth undertaking. The will power to see it through speaks volumes.

Well done video guys! You really captured the story and passion behind this car. I'm an old school DIY modifier myself and love seeing these kinds of stories. Most people just don't believe the kind of passion it takes to build a car of this calibre. Serious respect for the owner. I've seen the car many times around Sydney events and Nulon Nationals. Thanks so much for giving us the story behind it.
I've passed this car a couple of times while driving on the Old Pac Hwy. It is good that he didn't paint it and left it in raw aluminium - makes it unique and really stand out from the other GT40 replicas.
Simply fabulous work Jim... You're a true master craftsman! Oh and that spin-out on the video - like I used to tell my students back when I was still instructing "Sometimes you don't know just where 10 tenths is until you've been to 11 tenths"... Glad that the momentum of the car bled off through the gravel trap and assume that there was no contact with the tire wall..
I have to have one of these... I just have to have one. I'm obsessed with them. Mine will lean a little more into the restomod category, with a modern drive train and brakes etc. Because I plan to use it all the time, it'll be a road car. I'll probably order a CAV GT+ and have most of it built at the factory for me. I have some skills, but nothing like this guy.
LOVED seeing it spinning off. That's how you know it's being driven exactly the way it was intended. Such an amazing machine. It's almost insulting to call it a rep - it's actually an improvement on the original in many ways.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING LOVE YOUR GREAT WORKS, YOU ARE TOTALLY ONE OF A KIND GUY LOVE ALL YOUR WORKS HOW YOU DID EVER THING FROM SCRATCH YOUR AN EXCELLENT TRUE MENTOR THANK YOU FOR SHARING I LOVE ALL OF IT. PLEASE CONTINUE WHAT YOU LOVE AND DO.
An interesting choice of engine, not greatly appreciated but I feel maybe a better option than the std 5.0 windsor every goes for to get Registration, fantastic build and i know how it feels to have an automotive passion that gets you excited to wake up early and get into it.
To hand beat the body shell out of aluminium yourself just shows the dedication and 15K hours he must have a very understanding wife and no doubt calls herself a garage widow (lol) A beautiful handcrafted car that isn't a garage queen.
Unbelievable, super human; by the way this demigod of bodywork, looks and sounds like Ben Mendelsohn. I'm currently having a bit of a "Matrix" moment, while watching this for the umpteenth time. ,Jim Cowden is a he'll of an engineering stud.
To see a project like that to fruition is truly incredible. The pitfalls, problems, and issues one would run into would be daunting. I mean, he hand built the wheel for FK sake. That's insane. Plus,.....the way he improved certain design cues from the company that originally conceived the kit is also incredible. The best clone,.....I'm sorry,....HAND BUILT clone, I've ever seen. A true master fabricator and craftsman.

Love the almost rat rod look to it, probably the coolest most badass version of the GT40 I have seen.
Huh?
Jim, that had to be the finest example I've ever seen. There's more heart in that car than any other GT.
For a replica, it sounds good, but does not sound just like the track race car.
Dont forget Ken Miles with his love for the car

Brilliant car, if you are going to hand build a car may aswell build the best
Aesthetically this is the best I've seen out of all the GTs. Amazing!
that shot at 7:41 when its behind the falcon, realy makes you realise how low they are

Grants on thew video Jim truly gives perspective on your efforts and passion. That crossover exhaust on a V8 can't be beaten. WOW.
I am glad it wasn't painted, it looks awesome!
must be stainless steel?

Great feature guys! Captured the story really well.
That's the best sounding GT 40 I have ever heard.
I remember having an HO slot car (Aurora) GT40 -- it was one of my favorites.
Great job making this movie, greater job building that car😍
Awesome car, well done! Love it!

Nice job and good to know you take it out and drive it as it should 👍💪
Nice craftsmanship, sounds great too.
Great Jim your artistic skills in building the car in Alloy
There was a guy in NZ had built two cars in alloy,
I like it✅
What can you say?...Just a work of art.
Great workmanship brilliant car.
Geez you make me envious. It would be awesome to know how to do the things you do. The car is bloody brilliant.
Amazing build. I luv this !!!!
Like the man said, "It turned out perfect." What an accomplishment.

Not really a car I like but all those countless hours of work on it and then he goes out and race it hard, that's just awesome!
This guy is a Legend!
Wow!!! ...one bad--ass car!!!
Built not Bought.
+10-points for the music selection
Gorgeous machine!!

mate, thats an awesome looking GT!!!
What caught my attention hand made wheels and suspension
Throttle body & linkage, suspension, too. Original GT - 40 had steel body & fiberglass bonnet and boot.
Thanks for sharing, SUBSCRIBED, LIKED, and DING!!!
One of the best cars and tge Builder!
Great work! A testament to your skill

Good job man...
Love it , would pay a kings ransom to have a ride in this car. What about the brakes are they new or original GT 40. Amazing car,
Yes!!!! Awesome vid!!!
Good god...this is a marvel...
I'm glad he left it unpainted in the raw aluminium. It just looks so good as it is.
Just needs a clear coat to give it a little protection.
Nice car dude

7:13 was pretty scary. I assume he was able to stop before the wall...
John McGuinness its got to be heavy too right!? the car was designed for a mostly fiberglass shell but aluminum's got to add some mass.
Snug
With full glass fiber it weighs a rather scary ~2300 lbs in some replicas.
@@Snugggg nope. Aluminium is light
Gorgeous.
👌🏻more please lol
Awesome car
Pause at 7:41 if you want to see how low 40 inches really is.
