This video shows how to rebuild the cv joints the correct way.
There are a lot of wrong info out there, so look carefully for the details on each part so you get them in the correct order. I will show how to clock the two cv joints on aksel in an other clip.

This is the best rebuild CVJoint video I’ve seen. Very well done. Thank you. 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks for the nice comment 😃
Finally!! A good instructional video without a lot of "fluff" and unnecessary chatter - just "right-to-the-point" information!!! THANX!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
My joint came undune in situ.. tried to put it together on the car.. impossible!! Had to take it out and then it took me one minute.
Thanks for the video mate!
Absolutely the best video for rebuilding the CV joints. I was doing my brakes and the silly things completely disassembled in my hands! KUDOS for a great, informative and easy to follow video!!
Thank you Sergio, glad you liked the clip 😀
Thank you John.
Very precise and helpful details.
I just went through my four brand new LOBRO CV joints.
1 of the 4 was assembled incorrectly.
I would not have known without your helpful video!
Mille Grazie!
Eric Schusterman
Thank you for the nice comment.
JOHN Thanks for the explanation,
There are many wrong explanations on the net
Thank you very much for this video. Best I've seen to date and extremely helpful.
Thanks for the nice comment George 😃
Great rebuild detail, many thanks for taking the time to put this video together. I have been looking on the net and there are soooo! many out there that are giving the wrong advice.
Thanks for nice comment 😃
Thank you for excellent explanation!! I never knew these things.
Glad you found it useful 😀
Soon it will be my turn to rebuild CVs on my Syncro. Thank you for the clear explanation.
Thanks for the comment sir 😀
Thx for informative vid! You know i made a mistake when u see me search for this haha. Knew this, but somehow forgot myself when rebuilding it this summer. Lazy me was gonna mount the axle today, but it was stuck stiff as can be, obviously, so after removing the new grease on the inner cv joint, i saw my own eyes pop out of dumbness when i saw my own mistake lol
Glad you found the video useful 😀
Thanks --good video! Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way about this about 20 years ago.....
Best video Ive seen. Wish I saw this before I started messing with it
Glad you found the clip useful 😀
It's a Groove John, a slit is a cut in something, hope you don't mind too much and you're English is extremely good but you did ask😉 Fantastic and detailed content as always you're certainly very thorough. Cheers Sir 👍
Thanks for the reply. I learning something new every day 😁
@@Italjohn Groovy, man!
Fantastic video! Thank you sir, this was exactly what I wanted to know. 🍻
It's good to see a person who can give people a run down on how CV joints should be fitted because people debate whether it's really necessary on a street car,.
I'm starting to find out that it is because I've been going through the inner rear axle CV joints are wearing out in about 30,000 kilometres because I haven't been clocking them & I wasn't aware that the raised inner edge should face the CV boots.
There's been no information in the generic Holden Commodore service manuals but Holdens factory service manual May have details about that.
I'm part Norwegian myself as I'm actually a Holden, Edward Holden started.thr the Holden motor company in Australia but he died of the same thing that Henry Ford died of - brain cancer !
Some videos say grove on the Shaft side and you say grove on the outside, Wheel or transmission side.. I'm thinking it doesn't matter as long as you stay consistent
You are probably right 😀
Great video….Sorry for the dumb question, so on the same axle, they face the exact same direction to the gear box ? On both ? They both face the same way ? Or are they reversed. One side like you explained close the gear box…, then the other close to the wheel faces the same way also? I think i missed something thanks
They should be the same on both sides, so if you flipp the axle around, it should not matter. Sorry for my bad English.
Great video
Thank you 😊
You legend!!!
Good job explaining!
Thank you Rob 😀
Groove, not slit. A slit is usually associated with a very fine mark as made with a knife, Very good presentation and very helpful.
You said comfort edge to the gear box and to the wheel, it makes more sense to the gear box right
chamfer edge must be where the axels entering the spline in the CV joint. Badly described by me, sorry.
Nice detail video
Thank's Dennis 😃
Thank you!
Cool video!
Thank you sir 😀
Tank you 👍👍👍👍
You are welcome sir 😀
Sir please help me ,,I need this bearing for my car Skoda laura ,,,,I find but didn't get ,
Hi there Jay. have you tried autodoc ? (Google autodoc)
Few people are detailed to notice this difference.
Mine was like a pinball machine, the balls flying everywhere. TILT!
Salut John
Would it not be better to say, facing out or in rather than wheel or gearbox as it depends which end your fitting!
Or is it just me!
Yes you are absolutely right, it's just my lack of English words
@@Italjohn You should hear my Dutch :-)
Great video, and I’m very thankful for you putting it together. I have a related question though; if I’m understanding correctly, should both joints on the axle be built the same, but mirrored? Like, chamfered edge inboard, “extra metal” inboard, grooves on the outer shell outward?
@@brentdreaver6548 yes mirror is correct
The groove is where the rubber boot fits, either side!
