Thanks for teaching! For people who don’t know this already, The VAG (vw audi group) including Porsche and Seat uses the same 100 millimetre CV’s from the early 1970’s as my Baywindow bus’s CV’s looks identical to the Porsche one, even some Beatles with the IRS had them! So it should be available new for decades to come as it is commonly used
I thought it was funny; you mentioned about how things like the Porsche or the MR2 might not have C.V. joints available as you were standing in front of the W.B.M.G.B.!
How do you know which side is broken, the one to the wheel or the one to the transmission? I replaced CV Axles on 2001 Saturn SL2 like 1 - 1.5 years ago, and now it started to give a slight clicking noise on sharp turns to the right (when you basically go on the circle in clockwise direction). When the car goes straight, no noise, so I think it is the left (DS) CV Axle. Maybe I moved it too much on installation, maybe just such aftermarket part (though it is Cordona, seems like no complaints about them). So, if I remove that CV Axle, can I find out somehow which side of it has a problem? Or it is better to take apart both ends? Thank you for the informative film.
This is random and I'm only asking in desperation lol. Had been watching you for over a year before I realized you live in my area. Anyways I have a 94 Miata that has been down for 2 years now over a wiring problem. It's bone stock. Would you want to look at it? Or know of a good local shop?
You can, but like rewinding starter motors and alternators the materials are generally the same price as a new shaft. I usually replace the whole shaft and keep the old one as a spare. If you snap a drive shaft the ends are generally still good so you put your old shaft in with your new bearings.
Thats all good and well if your CV looks like this. I've rebuilt a handful and I've never seen one like this. They usually have 3 dicks with bearings held on with circlips. You replace the failed bearing and the cup if the bad bearing gouged it out.
What you describe is a "tripod joint" where as the one in this vid is a "homokinetic joint" Many cars actually has one of each (tripod near the diff and homokinetic near the wheel)
@@dirchkjeldgaard9454 learn something new every day. Where I worked har a lot of Toyota 4x4s and they used to crack boots and get full of crap so I would pull them apart, clean them up, regrease the bearing and put new boots on.
Not sure why, but ur stuff NEVER pops up on my feed or recommended items. I don't set alarms nor notifications for anyone, but I still see other ppls channels on my feed and recommendations, just never urs
Chances are I’m watching this video because you made it and I’m here for all of it
Thanks for teaching!

I was thinking the same thing lmao
I remember rebuilding One for an accord. A bit different but once I took it apart I was like wow, pretty simple.
Great video on what appears to be obvious, but actually very tricky your first time. Well done. I'm just wondering who finally tuned the 911S?
Love the “how to” vids! Keep it up!!

Great video, just what I needed, thanks. 👍
50 years of backyard grease monckeing says you have to Make a vid of the teardown of the shafts. Include some stuck ones.😮
Great video! Needed to see this one.

So funny enough, I just saw my cv is starting to go, and glad to know I can rebuild it instead of have to buy a new one every time

@@1one3_Racing that task i know all to well, i think, its fairly typical for 4x4's do to the amount of dirt they often get driven in 🤔
Awesome info, thanks!!!!
Yesssir!!! Lets go!
Thanks mate
Splines need to be lubed, must pack the bearing with grease well, forget the boot, really! :)
thanks
Hope I never have to do this lol
