He had a good trainer , idk it would've helped much . Because he did most of his learning and developing on the road fighting in sparring sessions disguised as paid pro fights . He avoided sparring at gyms because he thought that's where most damage on a fighter takes place which he is very correct. A guy like him wouldn't been able to have all these fights if he was stuck sparring guys in gyms.
Another informative video ,I like that you cover the lighter weights and not obsessed with heavy weights , glad to hear about these more obscure fighters .
Great Movie! Thank You! hardly ever do i choose videos over 1 hour long, and mostly skip through alit of minutes. this was great, and i did not skip, but instead rewinded several times to see things twice and three times. keep up the good work!
The real strength for Buck Smith is that he had no problem essentially promoting himself, like wrestlers on the minor circuits who might only paid enough for their hotel room and gas for the night of the show if they were lucky.
*Great video. I learned a lot about this guy (Buck). He's definitely a grinder (or WAS a grinder). Thanks for posting such a quality video about an unknown legend. BTW, I just subscribed. 👍*

so many great boxing channels out there but hancho's the best. these mastercuts have been great and put you a level above; no other channel could i watch for hours straight. hooked from the first sight of that gorgeously aesthetic and beautiful intro. GOOD SHIT RIGHT HERE

Buck Smith fought Julio Cesar Chavez and Kirkland Laing?? Impressive. I'm surprised I've never heard about him before. If only we had more fighters like him in boxing nowadays. He was more deserving of some of the big paydays that other fighters were getting back then. Lol, people assuming Estrada was a bum. It says a lot about the weight classes south of featherweight or Jr lightweight when people assume someone as good as hes proven to be is a bum. I wouldn't have minded seeing Chocolatito win their second bout, but some of the scorecards in the first fight were so bad it kind of evens it out. Also, Brian Viloria was a fun fighter to watch. And great at skipping rope. Estrada is about as fan friendly a fighter you'll see though.
Michael Buffer has one F’ing job, and he gets paid *MEGA BUCKS* to do it…. How could he F that up !? I mean things can happen to anyone, and it may not really be his fault…. Unfortunately in the boxing culture that had been created, people would shame Buck Smith . There are fighters who are literally doing that rn but be shamed on social. Up and comers being shamed and asked to fight a "real boxer" I don't understand what is a "real boxer" . I think the whole Paul thing sorta exposed the hypocrisy in our community. This is a great insight, I feel like late 80s and 90s boxing is very obscure and a very interesting topic. Hajime no Ippo vibes.
Bucky Smith especially. A boxer who traveled everywhere in his car taking dozens of fights a year to hone his craft and make steady income.
