John, got to disagree. Immigration policy is one thing, killing human life when it's most vulnerable is not even close. Otherwise, another well gone report.
@@durrdurius7205 Obama was far, FAR more right-wing than Benedict XVI on the economy, being a puppet to corporate interests and whatnot. Our Pope, instead, endorsed a Scandinavian-style social democracy practically identical to the Bernie Sanders campaign as far as economics are concerned.
The illicitly ordained bishop you mention towards the end may be validly ordained, although illicit, similar to the Eastern Orthodox Bishop, and those of the SSPX and sedevacantist bishops. That is because the bishop who ordained him still has the character of the episcopate on his soul. Laicisation does not remove the character of the Sacrament Holy Orders, only the authority to use them, therefore if they administer the sacraments it will be ''valid but illicit''.
I am completely bilingual i Italia, pope Francis also gave a third option, based on the fact that both refugees and unborn babies a considered unworthy of life, and that is NOT to vote at all. +
You fail to distinguish the moral context of the ‘two evils”. Abortion cannot be weighed as equivalent to a country’s laws on emigration. Right to be born is not contingent upon political considerations or laws. You miss the essential point of the moral conundrum inherent in the Pope’s comments.
Progressive ideologues keep talking about how Europe doesn't have to choose. One keeps waiting for progressive Islam in Europe to blossom into this pluralist vision as well; like it has in.... oh, wait. It hasn't anywhere.in centuries. Not only is Francis drinking too many Singapore Slings, but John Allen Jr. also appears to be more a stoner of religious indifferentism than a respectful reader of the real diversity of religions in the world; a diversity that includes resolute violent eschatological repudiation of the Cross. When Francis announces that Muslims are God's children, too, he blithely and ethnocentrically ignores the fact that Islam rejects the very possibility of divine paternalism. The master/slave idiom obtains for Islam. These (post)Christian pundits are rigidly closed-minded to the real diversity of religions, because that diversity exposes their inclusivist caricature as naive.
Schoenborn isn't wrong. Securalization theorists have for years predicted the decline of Christianity in Europe. Berger is a religious studies theorist whose clarified what's going on. Emphasis is on Europe, and a few other Western countries, but the world is not becoming radically secular. We shouldn't be alarmed because religion changes its mission over time and place.
If the US had a fully Catholic politician... one who put Catholic values first he or she likely couldn't rise higher than, say, governor of Louisiana to use a not so random example.
Probably not even that high. I have a relative who could not be elected president of the city council due to party of inclusion's subversive members who actually campaigned against her for being pro-life. We are talking about city council. I knew a lefty who was key in the local party, and she said it was important to not let a pro-life person be even a dog catcher, because they may rise to higher offices. So, abortion starts with political careers being aborted. BTW, the relative and her family had been elected officials for over 2 decades, starting before the crime of abortion was legalized in the state. So, she was a vestige of a prior party of the same name. The brand name is now owned by new owners, very behind the curtain people. So, you are very right, you cannot win in many places as a pro-life candidate, and by the way, you could be pro-life and socialist as far as I can see, and even for open borders and transitioning children and still not win. Abortion is their sacrament most unholy. The pope is more than a tad disconnected from realities in the US.
@@Shevock I don't know about that. I think if a Catholic ran on a working-class platform while also being pro-life and anti-LGBT, he'd win even more of the Rust Belt than Trump ever did. The problem is that the partisan political system is so rigidly controlled that such a candidate would never win a primary. As an independent, who knows? But running as an independent is incredibly costly and not every likely to be successful.
The saying goes only the good die young. The Pope missed his true vocation. He should have been a politician and joined diplomatic corps. We want a holy leader not a worldly one.

1) John, you are too thin, EAT SOMETHING!' 2) Saints don't go into politics and politicians aren't saints; and 3) as a progressive Catholic, I hope Pope Francis lives a VERY LONG TINE (103 years and beyond)
And oddly has not shared that same contempt for Biden's unabashed support of abortion, abortion, more abortion. It's clearly a personal dislike - Popes should not declare their personal feelings to the world.
Fraternal rapproachment? No, evangelize the Muslims (and re-evangelize Catholics on the margins) !!
Actually the shirt IS exceptionally good-looking. Wear it often, John!
No mention of unmistakable heresy in Singapore on the part of our Pope.
Our pope?????
Wake up zombie catlicks worldover. Past 60 plus years ALL are gallen mafia satanists. Paul vi hall is satanic proof.
Thanks so much for current relevant International Catholic news. ❤ Australia

In what way did Benedict XVI and Obama agree on the Economy? Can you elaborate, John?

Good thing you emphasized Singapore Swing. We don’t want the Pope to be shaken or stirred by events on his trip.

Antipope Bergoglio believes that Krishna = Christ. Thanks for covering this.
This is not true.
Thank you John.

Yes. The shirt is dope.👍.
Love the shirt! ❤

Call me crazy, but I think abortion is a lot worse than strict border laws and deportations that involve inhumane conditions and situations

The cardinal should read.the Quran chapter 9 verses 5'to 33 and see if we have anything in common.
"anything in common" is different than "everything in common".

Amen! I pray for him always-for wisdom, prudence, charity towards all.
Is that what the pope meant when he said all religions lead to God?
For the sake of album and ticket sales Taylor Swift should’ve said nothing. I notice Bruce Springsteen hasn’t voiced backing Harris.
Tighten it up….sigh
Does matter re Supreme Court.
