Thanks for your advice, very helpful.
Not huge deal but its suggested to compress the brake caliper cylinder with bleeder valve open for it can cause issues with abs system. Can run hose to catch can with extra fluid so when you reinstall everything and then push brakes it wont suck in air
How do you determine what harness or sensor is bad. Do you offer an inexpensive code reader?
I noticed there's grease of some sort on the end of the sensor when taken out, do you need to reoil the new one before installing or does it get grease from some other internal area of the hub, tks
What are symtems of a bad sensor if you dont have a light coming on..im getting a plastic rubbing sound as if gears are clickimg past each other..??
👍👍👍 Very helpful video thank you.
Can you show me a video or a location? Where the white center oxygen gas center is located on the forward Mercury. 202 V6 model. I cannot find it. I'm having trouble it's just not display anywhere's on that. I'm starting to think that the salesman and autozone gave me the wrong center. Tell me it's wrong. Tell me to try I need help. I'm gonna get my car small really.
Correct me if I'm wrong, this is the same for any 02-05 Ford Explorer? My advtrac light went off today after I changed out my battery... go figure. One thing is fixed, another thing breaks.
+wonder1070 This should be a very similar installation for your Ford Explorer.
The gm dealership told me I have The same problem with mine both sides need replacements 2004 Pontiac grand prix super charged
Is this the same way replaceing
+Jeffrey Martino Thank you for checking us out. The concept remains the same, but hardware sizing and orientation would be different. At this time we do not have a video for your vehicle, but suggest searching other RUclips channels for an accurate replacement. 1aauto.com
The dealership diagnosis is suspect. While both of your original sensors (if both the original factory parts) would be the same age and so we could assume both would fail eventually, ultimately it is highly unlikely that they both failed at the same time, that the error you're seeing is due to only ONE of them needing replaced.
Essentially, the shop is probably trying to double their profit by replacing two of them, and even then at a high OEM part markup. In other words this is DIY for one sensor for around maybe $20 to $50 while a dealership, probably $250+ for both installed... and note how it was done in the video in (a little over since they skipped raising the vehicle and taking the wheel off and put back on) 9 minutes, but you'll be billed at least an hour.
I bought a wheelbearing for a 2011 ranger the abs plug was round and the ranger plug was oblong and the wires where different colors black blue white and brown any ideas why
Is there a way to check the abs sensor? Do you check the sensor resistance or voltage while spinning the wheel?
Yes. Sensor resistance will tell you if the coil in side is intact, meaning that with no resistance (open circuit) you know it's bad, but a good resistance reading doesn't tell you if it's generating a good signal. Signal, since it is the inductive sensor type you can use a meter on mV AC voltage range and spin the wheel fast (relatively fast, by hand I mean).
The problem is, you may still get a voltage signal, just weaker and enough to be off compared to the other wheels. In this case it is more likely the ABS activating at low speed when stopping, while having the ABS dash light on is more likely bad enough to measure the difference easily without a 'scope.
Frankly if you have a code scanner capable of reading Ford ABS codes, this would be the easiest method and most clear indication of what's going on, and on which wheel, except that getting NO reading does not tell you the sensor is bad necessarily as it could just need gunk cleaned off or the connector could be fouled and need cleaned.
Yes you can
Is the abs sensor the same as the wheel speed sensor?
+Greg Cummings The ABS sensor works with the braking system, and the speed sensor works with the speedometer. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
Yes, if you have a "wheel speed sensor" this is it, while there may be other speed sensors on your particular make and model of automobile. In the case of this generation explorer you would also have a speed sensor in the differential which senses rear speed for the ABS (if not at both rear wheels, I don't recall which generation changed that) and generates the signal for the dash speedometer.
the gasket on the rear end pigtail how do you change it
how do you change the gasket on 2005 Ford Explorer for the realend
Ron Hurley my 03 explore won't turn changed the starter n nothing engine wants 2 turn but doesn't have enough spin but if I put the scanner it says c 1234 c1233 think this is what causes the engine 2 not start just dont wanna take it 2 a dealership if its a quick fix thanks n advance
excelent . thanks so much!!!
Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair we carry the replacement part shown in this video on our website. Here's a link to them goo.gl/PaX3xp
Why can you just replace the sensor instead if the whole harness??
the harness material determines the current flow sensed by the sensor magnetic field. I guess thats why you need to change everything.
Oz a 488 dash d two
Why is there such a huge disparity in the volume on this video? If you were going to narrate it then why did you not turn your narration volume up? I can barely hear you. You're speaking way too Softly. It also does not match with the loud audio from the non narrated parts
+Eastsidegeorgiaboy Thanks for the feedback! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
