“So, I did the right thing and I threw a whole bunch of money at it to see if I could make it run.” LOL. Every one of us guys can totally relate to that.
I to am a older and a 67 -72 Chevy freak ! You did good is worth every penny. As a driver is worth $5,000 . They are getting very rare. Especially the two wheel drive version.
Not boring at all! Just an easy-going Sunday morning chat about an awesome project. A perfect companion with a cup of coffee and a beautiful Texas sunrise. Thank you sir.
Matt and the kids should be very proud of a dad and a grandfather such as Dr. Lee, with that being said, I wouldn’t expect nothing more from a Man, A Veterinarian, A compassion for Animals ❤
Good luck with your restoration, Dr. Lee. I have a story. (I always do) Back in '61 my family moved across country to a suburb in Orange County, CA. I was nine years old. One of our neighbors about 6 houses down would restore cars from the early 20th century. 1900-1920's. Every so often I'd see him drive a flatbed truck past the house with a beat up shell of a car. I don't know how long it took him to restore cars as I'm sure I missed him passing the house 90% of the time but when he was done, if I were lucky and standing outside when he passed by, I'd see a beautifully restored, to my eyes, museum piece. Occasionally I'd ride my bike or our car would drive past his house. His garage door would be open and I'd see him working away day and night.
I think many of us probably know or remember someone like that. Sadly here we are streng verboten to do anything that leaves the car inoperable overnight. Nice having enough land so nobody can tell what you're up to.
I'm not a car person at all; however, I have to say that for me not knowing one single thing about cars, I found this interesting. Most importantly, Dr. Lee, I am so glad for you that you are fulfilling a lifelong dream. Your expertise and knowledge just simply amaze me. I think that's why I find this restoration so interesting. I'm always intrigued by people who can do such intricate involved projects. My best to you, Dr. Lee. If I know you, the finished project will be grand!😊
Knowing the quality you put into everything you do, I can't wait to see the transformation and what it looks like when its completed. Its going to be a great vehicle you'll enjoy Im sure. God bless Dr Lee! Always makes my day.
I am not a car person, I am just an old retired nurse hanging until the good Lord calls me. I ran across this, I used to watch the channel all the time. I remember back in the fifties and sixties young guys would take an old car and get them running. Annie laid back to the topic, I will try to watch all your videos now, I always watched everyone but then I was sick and life got in the way. But I am back and we'll be watching again. And believe it or not for an old lady I am very interested in watching rebuild this. What year is it? If you did say I Missed it So good luck and I still love you. ♥️
This series is gonna be great sir. A 74 Blazer hardtop convertible was my first in high school in the early eighties. Not as bad on the rust but after an engine swap with an 80 vette, that thing sure could climb out of some 10 ft. gullies. Thanks for the memories Doc.
Take all the time you need Dr. Lee. I had a 1997 Tahoe the last 2 door ever made and it was awesome. The Blazer your restoring was my reason for my 97. It will be great to see a real restoration on that Blazer.
Dr. Lee awesome video! Ill sit and watch *you* rebuild any car or truck you want. My preference is muscle cars but Im no snob. I assisted my husband...rebuilding a tranny, dropping a gas tank, so many starters on my Chevelle (grr) I lost count, adjusting the butterfly on the carb. Over 25yrs of that. I think I would have made a good mechanic. Im all set. 🍿🥤 Lets get started restoring!
I have always loved working on these kind of projects…hunting and scraping for parts and ideas…I am so excited for this project please don’t give up on it. It is not the destination, it is the journey! God Bless you, kind man 😊
It's good to see you making the most of your ranch and rescuing those old cars. Those of us who didn't grow up wealthy learned a lot by having to keep ancient pieces of automotive technology running because we couldn't afford better. That's why my dad taught me how to fix cars, and I taught my son.
Same here. I was raised fairly poor. We had "enough" but that was it. If I couldn't fix my car, I had to walk.....Learned to be an "okay" mechanic, plumber, electrician, framer, drywall, mason, etc.... Taught my boys the same too!
Yeah I know the drill.. You learn to be a MacGyver fixing everything you can think of with enything you can find in the surroundings.. Cheers from Northern Sweden 🍻
Dr. Lee, I’m not a mechanic, I’m not into vehicles of any kind in fact I don’t even have a driver’s license. However, I love your videos. After a busy day I can put on your video and your soothing voice will relax me. So I’ll be watching your restoration of this vehicle.
My son’s first truck was a First Gen Chevy Blazer ❤. He rebuilt it from 15 years old until right up to the day he got his drivers license. Here in Maryland that is 2 months after your 16th birthday. He got it tagged and titled in his name the day after he got his license. He is now 23 years old has that Blazer and a brand new Ford F350 Super Duty lariat. He loves trucks and works very hard at his Demolition Company he started on his own. Your videos are never boring. 🎉❤
Good Sunday morning Dr. Lee! First off, your videos are never boring! Personally, I'm excited for this series. I love older car restoration videos. Actually, one of my favorite channels, junkyard digs just visited Matt at his abandoned town lol. I'm sure he could be a great resource if you get stuck. Wishing you a beautiful day and look forward to the next installment. Love from Magnolia. ♥️
Yeah, I spent a good nit of time with Kevin and Dalton (Pole Barn Garage) when they were at the abandoned resort. LOVE those two knuckleheads!!! Happy Sunday!!! Love you back!
Burst out laughing when you said “I did the right thing and threw a bunch of money at it”. I completely agree that was the right thing to do! You seem to be a doer rather than a watcher but just in case, here’s my favorite channels for just this type of thing….Fab Rats, Matt’s Off Road Recovery, Merlin’s Old School Garage. If you’re interested in recovery videos in beautiful country by skilled people rescuing “knuckleheads” ( my sisters term), the first two above plus Casey La Delle and Trail Mater. Casey is in Oregon and the others are in southern Utah. Now back to finish watching your video. PS as an almost 71 old lady who’s physical and cognitive functioning have been going downhill more rapidly, I am definitely a watcher now. So especially grateful for your wonderful videos on all subjects! 👌💕👏💕👍
I found this whole video very interesting actually. Yes I remember you telling the story of the car and all and I am very excited to see the progress as you try to fix it up. I am an old car enthusiast woman and I am looking forward to more on this old car.
Come on Lee! This is Jimmy Lee in Mountain Home… yes, we still haven’t met in the last 5 yrs even though we only live 50 miles apart, and I used to visit Uncle Floyd at Walmart. I will watch any and everything you, and Matt make (still wish Mark was posting ). Y’all are are on the right side of God and Texas.. Love y’all.. Put together a group of volunteers, and we’ll get together and fix ‘er good … I’ll be there… may even drive the ‘55 F100 down ….. Go resto-mod….
We all need something to do as we get older. Working on a 23 year old dream, seems to me like the perfect thing, to me at least. The old Ford Broncos are really nice, however the old Blazers and Suburbans, and some International Rigs are cool... I had a buddy that had a 69 or 70 Blazer, that was light blue with the white top, and it was very cool. I lived in Idaho at the time and had a 1972 AMX javelin it was the odd but I bought it for 500 bucks and I thought it was way cool.. (I wish I still had it) I think we all will love these videos. I know I will.. God bless you Lee and your loved ones Godspeed
Oh Dr Lee!!! You’re not boring at all! I barely understand how to switch on an engine 😂, but you are so good at teaching and explaining all things that you NEVER bore me! Good job as usual with your videos!!! 🤗 🇮🇹
I'm one of the car guys, currently restoring a replica Bluesmobile. Worked on it for a couple of hours today, even though it is a hundred and all of it degrees out there in the Phoenix area. Needless to say, this is an approved activity in this household, and I look forward to more. And with as popular and valuable as these early Blazers are, you weren't really gonna junk it, were you?
I for one am looking forward to each video you make in this restoration project. I really enjoy watching these great autos being brought back to life again. Keep these videos coming even if they seem a bit boring to you, I assure you they are not boring at all to us. Good Luck and have fun restoring this Blazer.
A man after my own heart. I bought a 1965 CORVAIR Corsa Covertable about 18 years ago. It had been broke down and I’m storage since 1968. I’ve named him Lazarus. As soon as I finish my barn project my first project is to bring him back to life. Unlike yours my classic has zero rust rot. But it will be a full restoration from the ground up. Right now he’s hanging from the ceiling by some 1 1/2” nylon rope. Keep those updates coming brother!😉
Not boring at all and to be honest I've Been waiting for you to do a car or truck build for a long time , love the old blazers and I will look forward to the progress.
Love this car series, Dr. Lee. Now I know where Matt gets his love of car "restoration/modification" of vehicles. 😊 Have fun with the rebuilding project.
Hi Dr. Lee, I don't mind a few videos on the rebuilding process. My Dad was a mechanic when I was a kid many years ago so this rebuild is my time era. Thanks for sharing. Have a Blessed Day ! 🙂❤️
I’ve always had a true soft spot for the 1st generation K-5 Blazers. And their natural rival Broncos as well. A similar story really as I remember seeing a ‘rich kid’ in high school drive up in one that his dad had bought for him. Rough and ready, yet there’s something really beautiful about that design. Hard not to be a little bit envious. Awesome that you rescued this one from the pit it was trying to make for itself. Which ever way you go with restoring it, it’s hard to go wrong really. You can do just about anything imaginable to them & they’ll still look and perform great. I’m excited to see what y’all can do with it!
Dr. Lee... update about mom. Dad woke up on July 4th and found mom had had a stroke in the night. She was hospitalized for 18 days. They also pulled her out of a coma. HALLELUJAH PRAISE! She will be in a SNF for a week, then she gets to go home. Her memory is currently not so great but, hopefully, this issue will be resolving over time. Be sure to thank all of your Subscribers for their prayers for her, ok? Much love and prayers to you and yours, from your eternal sister in Christ somewhere near Seattle. ⚘️. 🙏 ♥️ 🙏 ⚘️
Worked at a gas station after high school. The boss got rid of his old Jeep pick up truck and bought a brand new Blazer for a service truck. We would fight over who would do service calls in that. It was a riot to drive, especially in the snow. When you get finished with that old K5 you’re gonna love it!
Thanks Dr. Lee look forward to seeing more on the blazer. Just want to say I sure do love the old chevy truck you have. All the best, as always be safe. Peace.🇺🇸
Dr. Lee, I look forward to seeing this restoration!! My dream truck is a72 Chevy stepside. These old Chevy models are beautiful. All the models from 69 to 72 are wonderful. God Bless you and see you next time Sir.
I bought a 72 Jimmy new in 1972 in the midwest and my wife and i drove it to Alaska and used up there over three years. Great vehicle. Built in Flint, MI. 10 inch wide tires. Pulled Jeeps out of ditches.
💯 ❤️ Love it! My 1st Blazer was an 87' S-10, My 2nd was a 92 K-1500, and my 3rd was an 89' K5, But i've always wanted a 1st Gen With a full removable roof, same story here for me Dr. Lee, I saw a guy in high school with a beautiful, bright red one I would have loved to had... Unfortunately, he took it out to what we call the old brickyard because that's what it is, and he destroyed it. He rolled it over, however, he used the frame and built a sort of monster truck back then which did give him the start to his life career, and he's currently just now moving into retirement from being a professional monster truck driver. Shout out to Larry Quick, Quick Motorsports. One time, back in college, when I had my S-10, I saw an old S-10 GMC Jimmy with the whole roof off, I don't know if it was a custom or limited edition. If anyone knows anything about them, let me know, as I used to research it and never came up with anything back then so I think it was just custom but I always wondered about that, as it didn't look custom. Currently, I got an 07' Avalanche, which is nice. I love it with the removable back window and all, but still, a convertible 4x4 is just a super cool concept 😎, you're right!
The hope and prayers of the first generation are rarely those of the future generations...I'm happy you have had the enjoyment of bringing it back to life and the hope of resurrection to be functional again..but what an awesome resurrection....love it
I love car restoration content and look forward to seeing the progress in future episodes, Matt has his own flavor of "restoration" content from the ZR-1 to the resort and a bit of everything in between so this is a welcome change of pace in the family
"Hey Dr. Lee, I know a kid, kind of talented but doesn't do much of the mechanical stuff himself, but he knows people...lots of people..." Lol. I hope you bring this Blazer back to it's former glory, like the Bronco was. Nothing over-the-top fancy, just a working man's daily driver. Whatever you decide, we'll like it. Cheers from North Texas.
Enjoyed the video Dr. Lee. What a cool project. I had a high school story like yours. A wealthy students dad bought him a 1973 blue blazer and he was a wild man in that thing. I bought a 1975 black K-5 Blazer in 1977, wish I had it back. Anyway, looking forward to your rebuild project. Thanks for the video You take care and God bless.
Dr Lee… I’m Kevin. Hi… My dad had 4 boys and when we all got older, we’re told to buy our own cars & insure them…So….My first was a $30.00 Chevy Malibu…( good thing I took auto shop ) and learned to buy decent Craftsman Tools because stitches cost $$$. Mi intro, forgive me …Then I fell in love with a 1968 Ford Ranchero…. Well, it was worth all the pain . Hard to drive because the original 390 engine was swapped out for a 302…the owner of this vehicle was the son of the Mom & Pop auto parts store I worked for and did not want to sell it to me. But this was my love ! and I got the parts at a discounted price. 1980’s … heck I was makin $ 4.00 an hour or less…. Weeeeee. It was basically a ford fairlane but a Ranchero…. I brazed a new floor in the front., in Auto shop, fixed the 4 speed front I put shaft bearing and drove it everywhere. Oh boy do I still miss that 68 Ford Ranchero. Not very good in the snow up in Northern , N.J…Well, Good luck with that Wild Lee Brody truck…All the best ! Oh, I’ve had 25+ cars since that Ranheroo… Today os a 2000 Subaru with 94k…AWD. And a 2022 650 Ninja…. Keep that green ! My Ranchero was Forest Green…
Nice! Looking forward to seeing more of this Blazer restoration. Back in the early 00's, my 1981 Silverado got stolen, but fortunately recovered a few years later. Unfortunately, it wasn't what it once was, so I had some decisions to make. I also did the right thing, and threw a whole bunch of money at it, to get it back into good running, and cosmetic condition. Cool thing about the truck, is my grandfather bought it brand new, and I got it at age 16. I was able to take him for a few rides in it, at various stages of the refurbishment, before he passed away. He did get to see it all completed, too. Well worth it, to see him enjoy the truck again.
I am very excited about this build, I had one, 1969, 454, ac, power brake, and roll bar. It was red and I loved it so much, I wish I would of never got rid of it.
Good morning Dr.Lee from San Antonio. My dad (RIP) had a 87 4x4 K5 blazer diesel about 20 yrs ago which was the truck I learned to drive when I was nine years old. Can’t wait to see the transformation of this blazer.
@@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo unfortunately, no. I talked with my dads old co-worker awhile back who bought it off of him to try and buy it back but he said he sold it to a rancher from Mexico awhile back. My hopes in buying it back are long gone.
Really looking forward to seeing this one brought back to life. My Dad had a '72 Blazer when I was in high school. So many great memories of taking that top off in the summer and carrying a bunch of friends to the pool or the creek. 🙂
You did the right thing! My Aunt and Uncle had a K5 Blazer in the 70`s. He took it hunting and got it sooo stuck, they had to use a dozer to get it out! I would love to have that one. Take care
Mr., Dr., Pop's Carriker, & Brother in Christ . . . Well praise the Lord for a new project to piddle around with. Hope it comes along with the Lords blessing and plenty of joy, giggles, and smiles.

Good Sunday morning Dr Lee and family. Looking forward to see this Blazer restoration.
This is gonna be a cool series. I can't wait to see the finished product! God bless you Dr Lee!

You are never boring! Love your vids!
For me, it's the old Broncos but, I love all old 4WDs! Great Video!
I really enjoy hearing You talk. You are never boring. Love From Michigan and it's a beautiful evening ❤️ GOD BLESS You and Your Family.
Hey Dr Lee, I'm excited about this restoration. Looking forward to more content.
I am so excited for this new series. I grew up under cars with my dad and LOVE these kind of videos. I can't wait for the next one! Thanks, Dr. Lee!
Goooooood Sunday morning, Dr. Lee and family. Hope y'all are doing well. I'm excited to follow along with this series.
What an inspiration! Great video, Dr. Lee. God bless you and your family. 🙏
Dr. Lee... update about mom.
⚘️. 🙏 ♥️ 🙏 ⚘️
Not boring. Love your vids.
Worked at a gas station after high school. The boss got rid of his old Jeep pick up truck and bought a brand new Blazer for a service truck. We would fight over who would do service calls in that. It was a riot to drive, especially in the snow. When you get finished with that old K5 you’re gonna love it!
Wasn’t boring Dr. Lee.
Will be and has been lots of work but your dream will come true. 🌻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
Nothing wrong with a healthy project.
Totally agree!!!
Yep, my son Drew has an 07 Avalanche (beautiful dark green) with 120k miles...great truck!!!
The hope and prayers of the first generation are rarely those of the future generations...I'm happy you have had the enjoyment of bringing it back to life and the hope of resurrection to be functional again..but what an awesome resurrection....love it
I am so...excited to watch the restoration of this Blazer you have eye balled for 23 years...
🎉CONGRATULATIONS🎊
HUGS & BLESSINGS ALWAYS 🙏✝️🤗
I love car restoration content and look forward to seeing the progress in future episodes, Matt has his own flavor of "restoration" content from the ZR-1 to the resort and a bit of everything in between so this is a welcome change of pace in the family
Bring it on Dr. Lee, If you post it I'll watch it Sir. Have a glorious Sunday !
God bless you sir, what a man you are ❤ from Scotland 🏴 thanks for sharing the video Dr. 🙏
Hi Dr Lee,,,if the blazer turns out like the camaro it'll be super nice. Looking forward to the updates on it.
Happy to watch whatever content you choose to post.
You're a good man Dr Lee.
Never boring with you Dr Lee! I'll watch even tho I'm not a car gal.
A friend of mine had a blazer back in the 80's it was pretty awesome! Good luck with the build!
I could listen to Lee all day. I love his Texan demeanor.
Thanks for sharing this journey with us Lee. I appreciate it very much
Not boring to me. Thanks Dr. Lee.
Your videos are never boring. You are one of the realest and bestest youtuber ❤
It's just after 6 a.m. Seattle time, Dr. Lee. What a great way to wake up to your handsome mug.
Looking forward to the rebuild.
Take care... ⚘️ 🛐 ⚘️
Have a blessed Sunday!
@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4l
And to you and your beautiful bride, as well, sweetheart.
This Blazer is the perfect vehicle to restore. I hope that you do it in "Dr. Lee fashion." Wish I could be by your side to help.
Love to have a 650 Ninja, Kevin....and the Ranchero of course!
Looking forward to this series..
Oh man, been waiting on this!!! Thank you!👍👍It's a crime, a felony that family left it to rot when all they had to do was cover it or garage it.
A 💯worthy project Doc, very few of that vintage are still around. Happy Restoration!
That's an awesome story! Great memories!!!
@@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo Thank you! Yes, many fishing trips with my grandfather taken in that truck.
Very interesting and excited about future videos of this build.
Love it Doc! It’s not so much about the trucks or Blazers, but the memories that come with them. Can’t wait to see it come together.
I am very excited about this build, I had one, 1969, 454, ac, power brake, and roll bar. It was red and I loved it so much, I wish I would of never got rid of it.
AWESOME!!!!
Good morning Dr.Lee from San Antonio. My dad (RIP) had a 87 4x4 K5 blazer diesel about 20 yrs ago which was the truck I learned to drive when I was nine years old. Can’t wait to see the transformation of this blazer.
Morning neighbor! I love the body style of that era Blazer like your dad's. Do you still have it, Marco?
'72 blazer has great style. She is grateful you bought her.
