This was my father's production that shot this Blazer footage. My memory isn't perfect, but I was tagging along for the tug of war clip. Note this was shot around Colorado Springs on tracts of land that are now totally developed. Most of the AWD footage was shot around the Tarryall Reservoir area 50 miles from Colo Spgs. It was a great era for us growing up. My favorite all time truck to this day is the 72 red/white 2 tone Blazers.
Every single scene in this would be notated "Professional Driver on a Closed Course. Do Not Attempt" nowadays. Back then that is what you wanted your customers to try out in this awesome truck. Times have changes for sure.
Not every single scene. Come on get real. What about when the kids are getting in and the dad's loading up all the camping gear. And when dude walks up at building scene.. so you might want to rephrase that.
My aunt had one of these that she used in her real estate business. It was a great truck that was a lot of fun to ride in - as a kid, I thought it was so cool!
I'm taking a vacation from the world right now and have decided to spend the summer revisiting my old pal 1972. It wasn't perfect but at the same time it kind of was.
Yeah did you see the one clip in the later part of the video where there's just dirt falling out of it for a good 5 seconds at least? Gave me a good chuckle
I always hated that slogan 😂 it’s a truck 101%, ain’t no El Camino or Ranchero look to these! That’s why both those cars/trucks exist!! Lol this is all about looking cool in a badass TRUCK!
That is a lot bull crap about the Bronco. My Dad traded his Bronco for a Blazer and the Blazer was nowhere as good an off road vehicle. It was bigger and more comfortable but it would have been left in the dust of rough off roaming and for that matter even snow it was no match for the little Bronco. Also, the Bronco never had a warranty claim. The Blazer had 3 transmissions in 16 months. So much for like a rock. Also, let’s not forget the price difference. The Bronco was a little over $5K fully loaded. The Blazer was $ 7800 and didn’t have a rear seat or carpet. To give a little perspective on that Blazer price, the Corvette sitting beside it on the dealership lot was only $500 more.
A lot of your comment tells me that you don't know very much about GM vehicles and that you're a bit of a Ford fanboy... also I saw someone else in these comments say their dad only paid $4000ish for one new back in the day... Also pretty stupid to compare a Blazer to a Vette. That's apples to oranges. Two completely different target audiences
2:06 if you want to jacknife and flip everything. People buy longbed 3/4 ton trucks for that purpose for a reason. Yeah it'll pull it and may stop it, but you're fucked in a crosswind.
If it's getting over 4or 5 MPG It cant be any good. Need a 455 ci engine and the works. And extra large gas tank with a dozen jerry cans. Extra driveshafts transfer cases, transmissions etc. Roadside assistance, Ha ha ha ha!!
I had a 454 in a '67 K/10 Suburban with a TH 350 trans and 33x12.50x15 tires. I got 6 City and 8 Highway. Cruised at 80. GM didn't produce any 4X4 trucks with big blocks. Didn'y want warranty issues.
was GM serious? They were actually comparing their full size blazer to the small sized ford bronco? lol this was stupid. That would be like comparing the chevy silverado to the ford maverick truck. Like why was there even a need to compare the two when it's freaking obvious that the blazer would haul more, tow more and every freaking thing else. lol they must have been really threatened by the small bronco to do something like this. lol
The Blazer was the direct competition to the Bronco. Notice they did not compare the little mule to the Suburban. Even the car media of the day did comparison tests. The facts are that the Bronco came out several years earlier so GM created what they believed to be the better SUV to try and out sell Ford. I'll grant you the video is a bit cheesy, but even though i own the Blazer, I still like the Bronco.

that dam legal team
Exactly - read any owners manual today & probably over 40% of it is "Do NOT ...".
Notice the lack of safety - belt use, people smoking. Lol
Corporate interests, lawyers and insurance companies got us to this point. they should all be destroyed.

Drove new blazers off the dealer lot to vehicle prep back in day
My aunt had one of these that she used in her real estate business. It was a great truck that was a lot of fun to ride in - as a kid, I thought it was so cool!
Very cool! great memory
Drove new Jimmy's of 71 at dealer GMC. Build quality was ehhhhh
My dad bought one of these brand new back in 1972. At the time, it cost about $4,500, now, one of those old trucks are worth thousands.
In pristine condition they sell for anywhere from $70-120k
What a great video. I would have bought one if I would have been an adult in the early to mid 70's.
Expensive about 3600 base add another 1kfor options
When that banjo kicked in I thought Roscoe was chasing them Duke boys again brah
I loved them daisy dukes
I'm taking a vacation from the world right now and have decided to spend the summer revisiting my old pal 1972. It wasn't perfect but at the same time it kind of was.
This was great!! Love these old sales films, especially on a favored vehicle.
glad you are enjoying them. I have many more and will defiantly be posting them
“And the largest V8 in its class!”

great info
Car truck would be an El Camino, but that Blazer rear bumper here served as a great dirt shovel.
Yeah did you see the one clip in the later part of the video where there's just dirt falling out of it for a good 5 seconds at least? Gave me a good chuckle
Had a 71. Elky with 22k miles ot ripped off paid 2800 bucks 4. It apt. 73. From. Dealer

Blazer the "competitive car truck" 🤣🤣🤣
I always hated that slogan 😂 it’s a truck 101%, ain’t no El Camino or Ranchero look to these! That’s why both those cars/trucks exist!! Lol this is all about looking cool in a badass TRUCK!
I still have a '71 GMC Jimmy K/1500. 350 V8/SM465/NP205/12 Bolt 3.73 Posi. The only Bronchos I see are new.
1:48 dood I wanna be in that Bronco holding that steering wheel brah
Love the videos!
Thank you! more to come soon
"Competitive make unit" LMAO! Nice shade!
......but to think how much more valuable are those Broncos now vs the Blazer!
not many left, everyone wants a bronco
Actually they are pretty equivalent. Just look at Barrett Jackson auto sales or bring a trailer. Fine examples bringing near $200k.
@@focojeepr yup. Not sure what Broncos go for but saw a fully restored Blazer sell on BAT for $125k just the other day
One of the coolest vehicles ever made by GM. Today's Blazer is pathetic.
these were total beasts
Was that Don Shula at the wheel at 6:10? They must've given him a Blazer for winning the Superbowl that year.
nice observation

sometimes you need a narrow vehicle for off road. jeeps fulfill that category. the bronco was closer to a jeep. the blazer is more like a Tahoe today
And ford back then was garbage thats facts

Always said those first gen Broncos are trash and funky looking! Chevy always on top!

Yes its junk
The big bad Blazer
72 was the year of the cheapskates. they bought them cheap because 73 was the year of the new trucks.
Ford Bronco was a better vehicle that's why Bronco is still around and Blazer is long gone.
Ever heard of the Tahoe?? The Blazer name was given to the 1982 S10 line. The full size Blazer became the Tahoe.
@Todd bob you lying
Sounds like a Ford fanboy has some research to do...

I agree. But Blazer was still a neat vehicle despite this ridicous comparison. No, make that silly comparison.
The Blazer is superior to the bronco in every measurable way.
