We are so excited that we could be a part of this groundbreaking work. Long-acting, injectable HIV prevention, really is a game-changer ! Now let's accelerate access !
I read a story about how someone who took PrEP every day except for one or two days when he had a stomach bug and couldn’t eat anything. Turns out he had been unknowingly exposed to HIV some days prior to the stomach bug, and then I think about a year later he tested positive for HIV. Although this is very rare, it’s still unfortunate. New treatments like this will reduce things like this happening to more people. Thank you for everything you do to help the poorest people in the world and the LGBTQ+ people 💜
PrEP is just 84-99% effective depending on many factors. At best its still a 1 in 100 gable. Especially as a gay man like myself, if you want to have sex you will have to accept that you will eventually contract HIV no matter what. There is no safe sex, only safer sex. If you actually want to stay safe, there is only the way of abstinence. I chose this way as HIV is an unacceptable risk to me.
Question is, was it incidental that they ended up coming up with a twice a year injection instead of a vaccine, or was that what they were looking to make in the first place since actual vaccines tend not to be profitable. The price graph at 6:45 speaks volumes :(

One giant step forward with this drug. Three Giant steps back with the selections of RFK jr, and Mehmet Oz (who had his medical license rightfully stripped) being appointed to American healthcare 😞🤦♂️

It’s ridiculous that we pay, in the Western world, $40,000 every 6-months for an injection of this drug, so that we can subsidize the cost for the rest of the globe. We made - not only with our tax dollars, but also our labor - the societies that produced this great innovation. We should not be the people who have to pay extra for it.
@@Robespierre-lI The failure is in your morality. The U.S. healthcare system is essentially a redistribution tax scheme. Simply put, we pay artificially high prices for healthcare in the U.S. to subsidize low-cost healthcare in other parts of the world. In other words, without a single vote ever being cast, money is taken from Americans, in the form go higher healthcare prices, and sent to other countries, in the form of lower healthcare prices. That's wrong. If you can't see that, perhaps you aren't as good a person as you think you are.
Whom ever told you that hiv is okay in donated blood, is very misinformed. As someone that is on a daily medication 💊 I can’t donate blood. People that have HIV and other STIs or are on daily medications (stimulants, SSRIs, blood thinners, etc) are promptly turned away.

can confirm the $45,000 price tag
I had to watch it twice to believe it.
This video has brightened my day. Such great work.
Wow, this is an amazing breakthrough that can prevent needless suffering and death.
Good news but this was created for business. Focusing on treatment rather on cure
This is SCIENCE, a sublime human activity! Catch up with the lastest, Mr RFK!
Good news!
excellent job... ❤❤
I thinks this one discussion about lencapavir injection which is so expensive 😢😢😢

He’s not an anti vaxxer, he actually supports vaccines only if they’re proven to have no significant side effects

If I can get a couple shots a year, I'll take that over prep any day. It's not easy on my stomach plus I might forget.
Hopefully insurance won't get in the way
The price is so high...
One way or another big pharmas making $$$
I'm sure this drug is "safe and effective", right?

Got to wonder why humans think they need to buy their immunity in a store.
You can go and try to build natural immunity against HIV 🤡
