  • @Seveneleven44

I have 42 acres, I currently have a cub cadet/yanmar sc2400 with a 60” belly mower, 4’ Kodiak brush hog, and a small disk/cultivator that was made for this tractor. I’ve had it since new in 2011 and it has 3673 hrs as I type this message. It had a thermostat go around 1400hrs if I remember correctly(I’m a mechanic) so no problem there, replaced a shredded serpentine belt a time or two. Other than that I am more than happy with my machine and would absolutely recommend them and buy one again. I like simplicity and reliability, and if they sold a 4052 heavy duty in a stripped down version without all the electronic stuff, I’d buy one cash today. I don’t want the electronic stuff, I use my little yanmar to do every aspect of property maintenance, and I tend to use it for things it surely wasn’t intended for, and I know in the long run, those electronics will give you some form of headache in the form of not working, or needed for replacement. Love to get a 4052HD With a loader, pull behind finish mower, probably get a bigger brush hog, and a small field cultivator and I think I would be set. We have a lot of old growth timber that I’ve been slowly cutting, and it’s all my little yanmar can do sometimes, trying to hoss some of these logs around. All said and done, and if I would convince my wife, I’d go to the dealer with $70,000 and have a field day. No pun intended.

What is the size for the front tires? Best i can tell it looks like an odd size - looks like 31.5x13. I think Deere is feeling the pressure from other brands that include some of these "extras" as standard equipment. For the price they charge these "extras" shouldn't cost extra. I think the 4M looks awfully narrow from the rear. Does the 4M have an aluminum rear end?

  • @GoodWorksTractors

Welp, I want one! 🤩 Looks like it's got the 4r seat suspension as well which is a huge improvement. Not that it's necessary, but wonder if air ride is an option. Very curious how price point stacks up to the 4m & 4r. No tilt steering, right? Unless I misunderstood, only one rear SCV is possible plus Power Beyond? No 4th/5th?
The bigger front tires remind me of the Kubota MX Series, makes it more of a direct competitor to it. We're the ROPS light guards also standard with those rear facing work lights? Didn't fully understand that part.

Thanks Tim will check it out at the show. I still just don’t get JD thinking on why hydro trans is so great. I would think HD would be gear or Power shuttle at least. Just can not get into Hydo for hay work and heavy duty operations. Jdmich

It's more for new tractor operators. Makes it easier for people who have never used a tractor like myself to operate it, and for quick directional changes.

All skid steers and many dozers use hydrostatic transmissions. They're plenty heavy duty. HST tractors give the operator ultimate control. The ability to inch up out back to something is why buyers will continue to demand hydros.

Because hydros are better and more nimble than their geared or power shuttle counterparts. I'll take a hydro over a geared tractor any day especially with the majority of the work I do with my tractor. Like loader grass cutting and tree work

I don’t know about you but for some reason I really just can’t get used to a hydrostatic transmission. I like having the fine control of a gear transmission and having that RPM pedal down by the brake pedals. I don’t even clutch most of the time going into piles I just use the power reverser and throw into neutral then brake.

Somebody please tell me what the deal is with armrests. They act like it's a big deal option worth mentioning. I guess it is! Lol..... I figure they're showing me a 45k tractor and it's features should include BASIC features such as armrests. THERE! I got that off my chest.

I fully agree! Who is the bone head who thinks arm-rests are not a requirement on a $45k+ tractor???

I am curious if I could use my attachments from my Johnny 1025r That would be a great tractor for the final homestead

Some of them, maybe, but most of your attachments would be too small.
