    I've been using this feature on my S6 Edge Plus. Works pretty darn good. I had one food checker tell me it wouldn't work as I started to place the phone by the reader, she continued telling me this store didn't have the chips yet, and I continued holding the phone by the scanner. The transaction went through, and she gave me a dirty look. One day I forgot my wallet, this saved me. I would have had to replace a shopping cart full of stuff.

    For real world use your demonstration is excellent; BRAVO! Thank you for all your effort and time, very much appreciated.
    FYI: At the 17 second mark you say you are so anxious to get it to us. Actually you are not anxious you are eager: The word anxious is a negative word, eager is a positive word. Anxious comes from the Latin word, angere, to choke or strangle. For anxious think anxiety, fear, dread, worry, and the like; all negative connotations. When you are happily looking forward to something, as you are about sharing your information, you are eager, a positive feeling. Conversely, when you are not looking forward to something you know will occur then to some degree you become anxious, not eager.

    • @foxhound6364
      @foxhound6364 8 лет назад +24

      Haha. Not so much. Have you ever been to Japan? Outside of big cities like Tokyo, about 80% of places don't even accept credit cards yet. Even in the cities, if you leave the touristy areas, you'll need cash. Japan is still a pretty strictly cash-only society still. Many utility companies don't even accept credit cards or direct bank transfers. My Internet and electricity providers only had the option for paying with check or going in to a convenience store and paying with cash. Japan seems like a high tech society from the outside, but that is really only the touristy areas in cities.

    • @Jason-nosaJ
      @Jason-nosaJ 8 лет назад +5

      Actually I lived for 3 years in Japan, have you? I guess you're on the "Merikas #1" tip. I just stated a fact that about 10 years ago people were paying for items with their phone, we only started using this recently. You can now return to your regularly scheduled delusion.

    • @foxhound6364
      @foxhound6364 8 лет назад +5

      +Jason H I lived there for two years. You must have lived in a big city, because your experiences are far from the norm there. Japan is highly cash based. The only places where you will be able to pay with your phone or even a credit card are usually in large cities. The great majority of Japan does not work that way. I don't know where you get your Murika #1 shit from (makes me think you are just a weeb). I was just pointing out that Japan actually has never had much support for this type of payment, which you seem to think it has.

    • @Jason-nosaJ
      @Jason-nosaJ 8 лет назад +1

      Yore're arguing as if things are mutually exclusive. Its similar to if I've said vanilla ice cream tastes good, then you come behind me and say not all vanilla ice cream taste good.
      I lived in Tokyo, and I've been to Osaka and Okinawa. In regards to technology Okinawa is probably on par with Tupelo Mississippi, and NYC is the equivalent to Tokyo. Because Okinawa isn't as technologically advanced as Tokyo that doesn't mean Japan as a whole is void of technology.

    • @foxhound6364
      @foxhound6364 8 лет назад +3

      ***** Sure, but your initial comment was that we are now "caught up to Japan ten years later." and this makes no sense with your own argument. Google Wallet allowed NFC payments in 2011, and many other smaller companies did it before them. The support was isolated to a handful of small cities, too, just like in Japan. So we really caught up to them in mobile payments in 2010-2011, and have far surpassed them since, seeing as how most places have pre-1970's levels of technology.

    Since I got Samsung Pay activated, I rarely use my cc. It's tucked in my wallet case and is usually brought out when I need my card number. I haven't had a transaction fail on me although I am nervous for that first time. Especially when the clerk says they "don't accept Apple Pay" and I make this gesture about how it's a Samsung, causing her to stare and see if it works. 100% of the time, it's worked and their faces were priceless. Even creates a few conversations about the phone with people who would've never thought about getting a Samsung device. Samsung Pay was the biggest feature (aside from double clicking the home button) that I was really looking forward to before it's release. And most of all, I love that it works even with a case on.

  • @douglashughes2331

    Thanks for the video, it helped me out. One thing, neither Samsung nor you mentioned that there is the added step of connecting the card to The simple pay section of the app. Samson kept on saying swipe up from the bottom to access Samsung pay and it wouldn't work for me, then I saw you doing it and I started doing more research. Inside Samsung pay you must add your card to the simple pay in order to get back to work.

    You should make sure you keep the back of your case unobstructed to make sure there's a connection. Having a flip case with the flap folded back behind the phone will probably cause a failed transaction every time.

    the problem with the mcdonalds transaction was that you put the phone above the NFC scanner, Samsung pay does not use NFC, it uses MST, so you have to put it near the card swiper, never the NFC reader.

    • @trails247
      @trails247 8 лет назад +1

      +2020 Tech incorrect, Samsung pay uses MST as the primary an NFC as Secondary, seriously.. Try it out on the slider next time at mcdonalds. Trust me... It works better at the card swiper over the NFC contactless payment time.. 100% of the time.

    • @trails247
      @trails247 8 лет назад +1

      I may have been incorrect with the NFC, but I also use SP on a daily basis. I find it easier to use it where the card swiper device is over the NFC one. That is all I am saying.

    7/11 works, but you have to run it as credit with no PIN as they don't support PIN routing.

    • @ryanreyes5440
      @ryanreyes5440 9 лет назад

      +GuruAidTechSupport So at 7/11 do the terminal ask you for debit or credit or is it a Debit/credit button but it reconizes it as debit?

    • @ryanreyes5440
      @ryanreyes5440 9 лет назад +1

      +Ryan Reyes I dont like the fact that terminal still acts for pin numbers. It doesnt actually save more time than actually swiping your debit card. Mcdonalds is the only terminal that actually checks out fastest when paying with debit - it just approves it.

  • @007Kellam

    have you ever tried it at a gas station? I'm really curious to know if it works or not, but cant seem to find any videos covering that

    • @dontcallmehowie
      @dontcallmehowie 7 лет назад

      007K You have to trick the gas pump. Insert a dummy card (business card, rewards card, etc.). At the same time you need to have S Pay already active. Hold your phone to the slot as you remove the dummy card. You have to be pretty coordinated. Also, make sure you don't insert the dummy card in a way that the machine will attempt to read it. Your goal is to trigger the mechanism that makes the machine look for card data.

    How old is the video footage from this video? Harris Teeter is Kroger so you's think they would have MX915's there. Seems Earth Fare is upgrading to MX915's but with the Contactless(tap to pay) turned on. So I've been using the looppay fob for almost a year now, its the same MST tech although I had it totally fail at Marshalls, just made the rejected noise, haha. I'd have to agree that 90% of places do work with mst.

      +2020 Tech when u get a fail using Samsung Pay as debit use it as credit this is bc their system isn't activated to read it don't ask me how,what why I don't know. I used it a Kroger chain grocery store numerous times and all of a sudden I get "not authorized" when I use it as debit. I called the bank and my card and account was all good. Like tech said earlier as reply from my post. we have to spread the word on situations like this so users can be aware. By the way just used it at IHOP. I only use my CC if I'm out at a restaurant where the waiter or waitress needs my card.

    Man I had no idea it was possible to wirelessly transmit magnetic card info....or that those old readers could even read the signal from the phone.
    I just realized that feature would be rarely used here in Australia though...if our card has a chip, it must be inserted, not swiped. All our credit cards have chips, as do a large percentage of our debit cards. So emulating a swipe wouldn't work, we'd still have to insert.

    Best video for the MST so far. Also, every 7eleven I've been to they say that they have tap to pay disabled. I've contacted 7eleven and they weren't very much help and they said they will plan to integrate a mobile payment solution in their app if they can.

      Wow, thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. And that is interesting. It's kind of frustrating as well. I'm not sure these companies realize that we don't always need apps for things. Maybe that's easier and cheaper for them than implementing tap and pay readers but really, it's just a business ploy, for us to download their app and then feel more inclined to go to their gas station next time. Oh well I guess. Here's to hoping

    Samsung pay does not use the same technology as Android pay (NFC). Like at McDonalds, you dont hold it to the top to the NFC reader, you hold it by the slot to swipe your card. And yes about 99% of ALL card terminals that have a swipe will work.... if you hold it in the right place!

    Do you have to swipe up in order to use samsung pay. with android pay you dont have to open app, it automatically activates when you tap. could samsung made it simple like that.

    I'd like to see some more clearer video about how exactly you place the phone to get it to read Samsung Pay. Your current video just confirms that it works at many (90%) of the places you tried. It doesn't show exactly where or how you hold the phone up to the reader so it can be used. I have the experience where I go to a fast food place, where they still use the older style readers. From the customer side, it looks like a computer, where the employee enters your order, and it also calculates the cost. Along the side (facing the employee) there is a vertical track or slot where the employee runs or swipes your card. I am wondering if there is some specific way or spot, where you must hold your Samsung Pay phone, so that vertical slot reader can receive the Samsung Pay signal from the phone. I have a feeling that it should work but most employees are not aware of Samsung Pay and have never seen it, so they must not have set up the transaction correctly - or maybe it truly is just old equipment and not set for Samsung Pay, although, with both NFC and magnetic technology, it seems like it should work. Why not put out a better video, showing the actual placement of the phone relative to the reader?? Just a suggestion for a better and more informative video.

      also just heads up if they ask for last 4 digits make sure u give them the digital number under your card on samsung pay. if u give them the actually 4 of the actual credit card transaction will not go through. This is the same for returning an item. that 4 digital number is associated with the purchase, even with returning u just do the same instead of swiping a card use same method as u purchased it.

    When using mobile pay, wouldn't the transaction always swipe as credit? I know the card is debit or ATM, but as long as it has the credit logo on the card like Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, etc., it should go through with which ever establishments accepts those credit cards. I think the only time it's debit or ATM transaction is when you put in your pin. So the 7-11 should have, by my personal theory, worked if it was credit rather than debit or ATM. I know it was said it should have been credit, but only to reiterate. Lol.

    As an employee who has worked drive thru at a fast food place that isn't McD it is a liability for us to try to do any phone payment system because that would require us to touch a customers phone which is risky because if anything goes wrong we can be blamed for it and phones are expensive

    Great! Now I'm wondering something, why the heck does Samsung Pay just normally work with NFC Contactless Readers already installed in stores while Apple Pay requires specific new readers to be installed in stores? What's the difference between them? Or can you use Apple Pay the same way as Samsung Pay? Thanks.

    • @mrchen1211
      @mrchen1211 8 лет назад +1

      +Vylkeer Samsung uses MST+Knox security to share your card information to the POS machine magnetically just like you would when you swipe. Apple and Android Pay only uses NFC technology which does not work on older POS machine

    I tried using this for the first time ever at an Exxon gas pump (which was equipped with NFC) and the phone and pump communicated, but the pump declined the transaction every time. I couldn't get it to go through. I'm guessing its because that particular gas station didn't have their system set up for it?
