  • In this episode I FINALLY sort out the cooling system on the 57 Chevy. The fan kicks on and off as it should. It was nice going for a drive and not having people point at the smoke screen. Now that it runs and drives I can figure out all the rattles, squeaks and leaks.

Nice job, Dan. I love that thermostat fan setup. I believe it's a better way to cool an engine. I saw the video where you drove it, I didn't get a chance to comment, but I enjoyed the ride. Thanks for letting me hang around in your shop again. The 57 is turning out great.

I just bought a 57 Chevy 4 door with same color as yours. I am currently working on getting the 283 running (tune-up, points conversion, cooling install, 2bl carb rebuild). I have not tested the transmission yet. Everything is all factory and numbers matching. I also have a vintage a/c to finish installing. I am thinking of upgrading to 4 bl carb, but not sure. At some point I will do a LS conversion, but that will be many years down the road when my daughter is old enough to work on it with me.

Let me ask you something!? “ you work very hard on your various projects! You try to get by with the barest of bones!! (Cheapie)
I too was like that! Till I realized that each project any one does should build value in my pocket book as well as somebody else’s mind and eyes!!!
So out with the chespo brakes install the Willwood!
Even the SS brake lines as well as 4 wheel disc brakes!!
I then took out the relay and temp sender for a digital temp sensor that plugs a probe into the radiator that is adjustable to turn on as well off fans!
    Then Dakota Digital dash!
Also I found out that one of the best modifications I could do was ad a 21 circuit wiring harness!
There for improving the value of my vehicle in my eyes as well as someone else’s eyes!!!!

I enjoy your videos! On your horn wiring it should be a ground system just like your fan you really don't want hot wires running through your dash if you don't have to and through your firewall having the power under the hood with a relay and grounding it with a horn button is so much better!
