I have alot of respect for you Yusuke most shotokan practitioners reject other styles and only practice shotokan resulting in a very narrow minded and rigid style. Your open mindedness will shape you into a more flexible budoka both linear and circular just like the late Sosai Oyama. Keep inspiring. Osu.

I love all the concepts in this video but I've always had an issue with the practice of complete hip to fist relaxation or very specific ideas of hip control because as soon as sparring or fights begin 99% of people forget the key points once we tense up under even mild stress levels. Personally I prefer to practice a naturally structured and mobile posture and strike without judgement of how im doing it, even if a little tense but practice with a relaxed mind. I think if you train your intention and mind then your body will follow.

There is a big difference between execution of sport technique vs. that to be used for actual self defense!

A good way to think of that shooting punch is that your hip ... is the handle of the whip... it starts there .... your arm and fist should be loose until impact.
Also ... it shouldn't be sloppy ... the strike should end with your fist flat against the surface of the target ..... even when there is no target preforming kata.
2 or 3 pound weights with straps that go over the backs of your palms can help achieve faster growth to the dedicated.

Great video! Are the distances in Japanese karate longer than Okinawan karate because of the influence of Kendo? Regards.

So basically you use your hip to tell your opponent that a punch is coming?

Excellence as always the man is the earth the earth doesn't make the man adapt to every form of fighting vision and hearing as one weapons are no different than the same way a punch kicker block is Thrown always take advantage of the obvious the enemy sight and their ability to stand the two keys whenever engaged in combat exploit them both and victory will always be at hand with the sole intent of each sense being sharp being prepared being loose confident calm countering dodging and staying on the attack in the world of fighting to protect and to defend oneself and to be the very best day in and day out keep up the excellent content in the great work it's good to have an intelligent conversation keep going strong man 👊 of course competitions movie roles schools these things matter button street fighting there are no rules except to put the enemy down for good no hesitation no mercy no restraint the enemy doesn't play by the rules nor should a man who protects and defends himself
