This does work like a champ but.... if you have a Subaru with eyesight, this will disable it! Eyesight is part of your cruise control so if you disable the chime, you will loose your cruise control.
Some of my friends have the tendency not putting their seat belt when they ride with me. The chime is a good annoying reason for them to fasten their seat belt. Especially when it gets louder. But, it’s good to know how to turn it off.
I have a 2021 forester touring and it does this and so annoying! Like if you forget something in the house it will still go off like crazy and loud. Gonna try this trick for sure tomorrow!
Thank you 🙏🏻, just fixed mine, it was the most annoying thing and what about when the door open chime that never stops sounding, is there a way out to adjust for how long it chimes ?
You’re welcome! As far as we know there’s no way to adjust the length of chime or turn off the door chime. Also a very annoying if you want to have the door open while the car is in accessory mode
I did this a while back on my 23 WRX. That chime was BAD! Now, the question is how do you defeat the rear seat chime? That is my question. Have not seen anything anywhere on how to beat the rear seat chime? Thanks!
- I saw this other video and he said to do it 20 times. I tried it three times w/o success. - I’ll try 30 times. - If it disables Eyesight it is unacceptable but a previous comment has this point in dispute. - 2023 OB Limited
Any clue if this will work for passenger side? Our 15 Outback is doing it for the passenger seat with no one in it, I'm assuming there's a sensor that is bad but if this will work, I'm in! Thanks for the vid!
Not working for the 15 or 16 legacy... tried endlessly with parking brake, without, following other videos. Sighs. Guess it'll stay behind me on short trips.
If it's annoying? Then it's doing its job lol The younger generation( Not you guys though 😉🤣 ) Or people in general, aren't always paying attention to what we're doing. Ever since the age of the internet and technology, we've been living in the fast lane. So chimes take care of our forgetfulness or distractions. But I'm old, what do I know lol
Haha agreed. Fastening seatbelt should be as autonomous as closing the door when leaving the house….at least for us we’ve never forgotten our seatbelts..lol

Good point! Didn’t know that about eyesight, thanks for the heads up!
It will not work if your not wearing your seat belt. If you have the seat belt on the eye sight and everything else works.
@@michaelnowak7150THANKS for the clarification. I almost reinatalled after what the person said.
In NY adults in the back seat aren't required to wear seat belts. Does this, or anything, work to disable the rear seatbelt warning?
I've had my 2024 Crosstrek Limited for a week, and the chime is the biggest annoyance lol
Haha right?!?!
I have an Outback wilderness. It is the most irritating feature as I love this car. However I tried this and it didn't work

Your the driver your in control. Including who uses seat belts in your vehicle. Please don't drive if you cannot maintain adequate safety and control.
Worked for 2023 OBW.
20x
No seatbelt chime anymore.
Perfect.
Amazing, glad it worked!
Lol just FYI for next time to save your buckling and unbuckling efforts a little bit, it's 20 times to deactivate 😊
Good to know, thank you!

Yes exactly! Hope it helped!
Does the seat belt chime ring if an occupant in either the second or third (Ascent) row is unbuckled, when the vehicle is in motion?

Not sure about the 22+ WRX but there’s no rear seatbelt chime for the STI

Have you figured out if it disabled “Eyesight”?
The seatbelt trick does NOT work! Therefore, Eyesight is not affected. It is a sham. Perhaps it worked on earlier models.
Interesting! Since ours doesn’t have eyesight we haven’t been able to test it
My dad has a 2021 Ascent with Eyesight I can test on
Just open the door lol 😂

It disables the chime for both driver and passenger seat!
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but I’ve tried it over and over again and it’s not working 😢
I have a 23 Ascent
It doesn't ever work!
Love the washed look😊
Thank you! Clean car = happy heart lol

Weird, it should work without issues - did you make sure the car is in accessory mode?
I am also having a hard time with it shutting off on my 2016 legacy
@@treasurefree7288 I currently keep my seat belt buckled under me... pia but no other options.
Legacy?? And how far back in years does this work
Have tried on 2005 Subaru Legacy and it worked!
What kind of seat belts are those
The red seat belts are OEM!
@@thomasandsteph_ they come with the car?
Elsewhere it has been shown on the current Generation Outback that 20 times will turn it off.
Another way to do it, get in and turn up the radio. Done haha
Or that works too 🤣
I think it works if you do it 20 times
Haven’t tried it but very possible! As long as it turns off the chime haha
I aimed for 25. Because 20 didn't work for me
If it's annoying? Then it's doing its job lol

You're not old
You got your wits about you
Responsible accountable lol
And ... in habit of putting your seat belt on without reminder lol
Doesn't work! Ever . Don't be a fool!
